cr, cool or emo donkey farm?

Blog by : zackmorrisfive

sometimes cardrunners is great sometimes its just a group of complainers that the majority cant beat 25nl. i dont think its helping my game anymore to be honest i went straight to the real source and bought let there be range and i think that alone is better then any video. I also love but hate reading blogs like internet pokers where they just write pages of emo bs talking about how they dont love poker blah blah. I got a lot of respect for isildur1 like everyone does because he seems to love that game play fearless and is the modern day stu ungar. to all my readers of this blog you'll see me if you play on bodog and wont see me if you dont, gl at the tables guys.

Magic Johnson

Blog by : zackmorrisfive

everytime you lose you die a little inside and everytime you win your reborn.

^ if thats not a true statement i dunno what is. I remember seeing a thing on magic johnsons career where one of the first games he played in the NBA maybe it was the first game, well the lakers came from behind to win adn at the end of the game Magic was jumping up and down like they just won the NBA champioinship. Kareem pulled him aside and said, kid this a long season a real grind, you cant keep that level of excitment up after every win and you cant get bring that emotional attached to a game we lose. Its not the Kareem didn't enjoy the wins and didn't let the losses sting but he had been around long enough to know you gotta keep a even keel. this definitly applys to poker as much as any other game on the planet i think.

Side story my second cousin is a ref in the NBA scott Foster, his rookie season was magic comeback year 1996 and as a rookie he had to eject him from a game for the first time in magics career because magic lost his cool and chest bumped him, later magic wrote him a apoligy letter in the mail. I always thought John Stockton was the best player ever to run the point but magic obvi was a superior player and more versatilei and skilled all around.

I'm thinking about throwing some money on bodog and trying to run it up, it really sucks how i cant get rakeback there but they said with there cash to points that its equivalent to 3% rakeback and with the double points even more, thats not a ton but it is cool that any site offers a cut or points to cash or anything like that. I'm really looking forward to when Charles Town VA opens there poker tables because i really love adn enjoy live "real" poker and think i'm better at it. Casinos might give you free booze and the occasional free breakfast but you wont find them trying to give you any cut of the rakeback.

it happens 1-44 times... rush plo

Blog by : zackmorrisfive

top set is usually my best friend but i've suffered from the dreaded 1 outter recently. For the second time this week ive had top set cracked by the under set. The first time was playing holdem where i flopped a set of aces turn paired the board Ax99, turn went check check and the river i got over shoved into, so i'm like ok thanks, then get shown quads whatever who cares. Then today i had KKxx on a KJ46 board, and check raised the turn, guy tanks then shoved over my bet shows JJxx and i'm counting the chips only to see the Jack come on the river and the pot shiped :). I really couldn't care less about these pots though, i mean besides that the guy tanked with JJJ there its not something that should ever bother you its just something that will happen and you know i'm sure the guy was probably playing a bunch of tables or whatever. play millions of hands and this will happen so its not like you can expect for it to be 100% sure thing when its not.

i'm saving up my one outters and luck for bigger games anyway though so thats my plan.

I've done ok playing HU lately, and i contribute this to playing bad players late at night but whatever a win is a win and i'll take any win at any stakes against any players right now.

I fooled around with the rush plo games and theyre pretty fun i like it a lot better then the rush holdem games which i'm pretty much burnt out from, i've only played like 2k-3kish hands at small stakes but honestly the initial gimmicky fun of rush poker has worn out for me very quick i dont really enjoy playing with no reads and with the quick action and less flops.

1 thing i really struggle with playing on the internet is remembering players and reads on them and developing reads on players. Huds are good to combat this but they obvi dont tell the full story of a player at all.

i'm watching the vikings saints game right now and its 21-14, i'd love to see favre make a classic comeback here its pretty hard not to idolize the guy just for his durability both physically and mentally, hes the man and i hate the saints more then any other team in all sports.

homeless shanty town, when it rains it pours

Blog by : zackmorrisfive

So i badly need to grind and make a withdraw over the weekend and sadly my computer has started to randomly turn off. It did this twice yesterday and that was two too many times for me! and yes it was costly both times, the worst is when you have AK hit the flop hard against a donk, your ready to stack off and boom, black screen no lights... ouch!

so i took it too staples and went back there today and they say that the hard drive needs to be replaced! so this really stinks, i'm going to have to end up using it this weekend anyhow then take it back when the hard drive comes in, although since it randomly shuts off i'd be smart to rethink that plan.

the computer is only like 3 months old and thats disapointing but its all covered. i'm on a borrowed mac now so i can still play full tilt but unfortuntely only have 10 dollars on there! have no hud, stove, or ninja either. BUT on the plus side i am getting some rakeback money tommorow and i'll do my best to run that up.

One time about 4 years or so back i was playing a 5-10 game on bodog where i had 150bb in front of me and so did villian, i raise 99 on button get 3 bet, and call, flop comes K95, he fires the flop and i call. turn comes a duece he fires again a big bet and i go to click call, then of course get disconnected from the internet. That would be a pretty bad story if that was all there was too it, but it gets worse. So i'm pissed and i just HAD to know what he had so when i get back online i check the hand history, and it turns out he had KK and so of course the river was a 9. so i did win the pot but i only won the preflop and flop moneys and not the HUGE action that was going down on the turn and river. sick but whatever i still won and it makes for memorably disgusting story.

on the way to staples i left town a different way then usual and noticed a shanty town of tarps where a nieghborhood of homeless are living in the woods. The winters here in MD are ROUGH, and while there are quite a few homeless shelters and soup kitchens in town because of the poor economy they are serving and housing like double the people they can handle. I am going to walk to the shanty town sometime soon and give them like 20 bucks worth of canned goods, mostly beans i think because they are cheap and a excellent protien source. In the past i had little respect for homeless people because they usually just yell at me downtown beg for change and then spend it on cheap booze, but hey maybe i'll be there soon and be praying someone drops of canned foods for me!

hopefully that link works, GREAT song.

rush poker is soooo sick

Blog by : zackmorrisfive
0

im sure anyone that plays on ftp already knows about rush poker but if not check it out. Its basically speed poker which is funny because live players often make the comparison that live poker is like chess and online poker is like speed chess. I agree completely. so now rush poker is like a speedier version of speed poker. its fast its not traditional poker, its not "real" poker but its a nice fun poker game.

speaking of chess apparently in russia or europe or wherever i dont know they have chess boxing matches where you box for 2 minutes then play chess for 2 minutes so you work your body and your mind. I think they need to make this with poker because that way when your steaming in a hu match you get to punch the guy in the face. it would do wonders for the trash talking element. man i'm a genius, the frederick MD chapter of this will be starting immediatly lol.

LOW 90k breakeven stretch

Blog by : zackmorrisfive
0

well, maybe it was breakeven maybe it was winning small or lossing, i had never had a problem with HEM keeping perfectly accurate results but i think it shows me as up a few hundo when i'm really down a few hundo over the last 90k yes, 90k hands i've played.

well, this is demorilazing, very sick, and a little stressfull mostly because it comes at a time when i do need the money. I have to be honest though, this did not have to happen at all and i only have myself to blame. When i was up i took shots at good games ran bad and then stepped down in stakes and ran worse so yep thats how you break even over that many hands at low limits against not the best players in the world.

I have been down and out before and i have made amazing comebacks and have been fine. i know sometimes you gotta run ice cold and sometimes you gotta run hot but it doesn't make these stretches any easier to take.

I could elaborate on this sick feeling all day but simply put, the sun cant shine all the time man its gotta rain!

oh i also want to edit that in this time the short stackers have absolutely humiliated me and completely just crush my soul to shreds its been amazing.

Is this bet +EV?

Blog by : zackmorrisfive
0

this isn't really a poker related blog, more a gambling related blog, because over the holidays i haven't played a ton but i did win real good in a half hours or hours worth of play on thanksgiving.

Anywhere heres the question and i'd really love to hear what people think of this.
(216) Tennessee Titans -3 (-135) Sun@4:15p-----------Risk US$ 135.00 to win US$ 100.00
(216) Tennessee Titans -3 Sun@4:15p--------------------Risk US$ 110.00 to win US$ 100.00

so i have 245 to win 200 on the titans -3.

Then at halftime the score is 6-3, and the halftime spread is a PICKEM, but if you take AZ its +150. If i take AZ at halftime and they score more points then TN in the second half i'll obvi lose my TN bet. And If TN outscores AZ in the second half I'll lose if i bet on AZ as a pickem at half. So i ended up taking AZ at half as a pickem.

(215) Arizona Cardinals Pick (+150) Sun@5:40p--------Risk US$ 245.00 to win US$ 367.50

So if AZ wins I lose the -245 i bet on the titans, but win 367.5. If Titans win, I win 200 but lose the 245 i bet on the az so its a net -45. so its a +77.5 [(367.5-245)-(200-245)]. So basically i think i recognized a good spot where i took the gamble out of the game and picked up a smart bet where i take advantage of lines changing in my favor and get to book a small gamble free win.

I did something like this before where it was a randy moss over under for recieving when he had his home opener playing for the oakland raiders. The line started at OU like 75 recieving yards, i took the over and then a couple weeks later the line had changed to like OU 115 recieving yards, So figuring a lot of the time he would be over 75 and under 115 i bet on the under once the line changed, so i win both if he has between 75 and 115 recieving yards and pay juice if he has less then 75 or over 115.

table ninja, staying positive! nfl games

Blog by : zackmorrisfive
0

so for anyone that plays on ftp or stars i'f highly recomennd a program called table ninja, its pretty cool it allows you to do some things quicker and easier like setting up right click to auto check fold. I find it really comes in handy when your playing 4 tables and just want to fold 3 hands real quick. I always get pissed mult tabling when i gotta go check that tiny box but with this you just hover over the table and right click, i thought it was pretty awesome.

So i've had a long break even stretch i think i complained about it too much and for the first time in awhile i have some uncertainty in my game, but i know i really shouldn't feel this way, games are still great and most of my most recent and most disapointing sessions came down to big pots where i had the best hand and was never folding or had the worst hand and was never folding.

Today i try to make a comeback but lost with over pair vs under pair in 4 big pots, lost some flips then probably the most demorilizing was having jc7c on a 5d6c9c board and getting it all in against 33 and bricking off my one million outter. oh well what can you do.

Honestly i've given some semi serious consideration to getting a job and joining society to work for a living, i hope it doesn't come to that but i will be grinding my heart out the next couple weeks and just hoping i can run something up. I started playing poker when i was about 18 and working at a golf course, i'd take my tip money and deposit 50 dollars online and just do that over and over running it up and running it down. Then i remember it like it was yesterday i deposited 20 dollars on bodog and ran it up to 4k one semester at school, before i knew it i had ran that up to 40k+ before the year was over. At one point the next year in school during class i realized i had a 100k net worth with all my poker accounts and saving put together, i spent some money paid ridiculously high tuition in cash and kept grinding the games all the time, i stopped working at the golf course and did very well playing online poker untill one summer when i moved to the beach and went broke, i played on a bad connection for a week, played with some sort of mysterious sickness for about a month, i think it ended up being mono, then when you factor in drugs and alchohol and living with 5 other people i was broke before the summer was over. So i was 23 maybe and for the first time in awhile i had to find a job, i got a office job and worked in the 9-5 hell that most americans work in hated life every day. I'd play poker still all the time but any winning quickly went to bills and not to building my bankroll, then one month i netted 8k and the next month 13k i was back! I was sooooooooooo hungry when i was working that 9-5 job and playing bodog at night, i wanted to win so incredibly bad and every pot i lost would get replayed in my head all day at work, i think this did a lot to keep my game sharp. In the last year plus though i haven't been able to top that 13k month but i've had fun every step of the way grinding smaller games and playing bigger ones when i could. so that brings me untill right about now where 2+ years after recovering from my first broke i'm borderline brokish again and boy does it ever hurt.

I remember hearing once that stu ungar when he was older before he won the wsop the 3rd time was broke and he was scared to play his own money, the only way he'd play was on a stake and that he was still scared on the stake, maybe not scared money cause you know hes still stuey but he was scared to lose, scared to play. I could never understand that when i first read it because he was the fearless player that had consisitently ran up and down millions, but i guess when you hit a brick wall over and over eventually you will feel fear when your brain gets ready to do it again.

my poker career has mirrored the nfl play off games so far, not one game has been close its just been teams taking turns beating up other teams. There was 1 good game so far GB vs AZ but other then that theyve been pretty lousy.

eating bannanas, throwing poo.

Blog by : zackmorrisfive

so i've been playing a good bit lately the last week, i had one disaster day where i was tilted and i dropped 2k playing mostly .5-1 and 1-2... it was mostly .5-1 though. I haven't been thrilled with how i've played lately, but i think a lot of that is cause i've got caught with my pants down in a few spots were i couldn't resist bluffing off stacks with few outs if called.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911380
^ pretty sick one, whatcha gonna do though.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911387
insane bluff, insane callz good for insane image and thats about it i guess.

not often one pair of fives is good in PLO...
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911246

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911270

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911282
big pot, weak hand lol

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911289
looking back at this, i'm suprised that someone could get it in with such a bad hand and still be a favorite lol, but i hit my 40% shot.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911335
cant ask for better in PLO.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911343
nevermind you can get it in better, 9-1 here, and i thought maybe i NEEDED to hit that ace. lol

I've been playing mostly NL though usually 3 tables NL 1 PLO or 2-2. I did decent in tournaments last week so i'm giving the bodog 100k a try today, i already wish i hadn't played in it though because you cant quit whenver you want and i dont want to sit here and play 1 table now and i want to play 4 even less so i'm kinda just stuck grinding hopefully i'll go broke soon or win it all. But i really cant complain cause i'm watching the Pats beat the snot outta the Jets and cover hopefully. The more i think about it, bellichecks decision to go for it last week wasn't THAT bad, but given teh specific situation and how payton was playing in that half i still think its a pretty bad call but you cant say its horrible i mean they were a inch away.

good things can happen when you smooth call big hands, sometimes you get burnt but here i make the max.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911425

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4911436
^ standard cooler, JK, but i did not completely hate this given some of the table dynamics. I dont think this is as horrible given the table dynamics but i wish i had more experience playing against the player that 3 bet the KK on the button because had i had a better read on the player i could have played this a lot different but afterwards i felt bad now i dont feel too bad.

did bellichek really do that? OMGROFL

Blog by : zackmorrisfive
0

got my omaha and holdem manager working together, however now i cant get the hud to work for either so hopefully i'll figure that out soon. it was nice to get omaha manager working mostly because i checked my results for this month and i was up 1k after 1600 hands lol. I took the ravens -11.5 tonight but it is a small bet and its mostly because i'm going to shrimp night to watch the game, and when your eating 15 cent shrimp its hard to not wanna gamble on teh game for the bill and then some ha. Speaking of football that colts patroits game last night was RIDICULOUS, i couldn't believe bellicheks arrogance. Either that or he thought his D was just awful. I bet that randy moss would have over 85 recieving yards, he had like 170 so that was nice.

I didn't get to play a ton today but i managed to play pretty bad and run bad adn lose 5 buyins in about a half hour, then i had to go get my car so i took a break went to starbuks got a juice a apple fritter and a peppermint mocha coffee and was recharged, i rarely drink coffee so when i do it gets me jacked. I came back to the tables and ran up a good sized stack on 1-2 plo table without ever winning a pot over 80 total bb's. I really hate the short stackers in omaha, i dont mind the 50bb stacks but the shorter ones are annoying and i just quit the games when no good stacks are in. I'll have to pick and choice my spots playing omaha anyway on bodog because the games are dead a lot and get filled with short stacks quick, I'm hoping to see split omaha holdem action in a casino in the future so i look at tihs playing plo online as my training ground.
