Pay attention to your HUD you fool

Blog by : ynotraise

Hand #1

www.pokerhand.org/

The hand was played piss poorly the whole way by me obviously. The problem here is that the guy had an aggression factor of .6 over 90 hands. Duh.. learn to fold this crap.

Hand #2

www.pokerhand.org/

Lesson here as well - don't stack of with TPTK you donk. This guys aggression factor was .85. Nice work.

I did however do one or two things correctly. This next hand being one of them. I put this guy on A/x diamond draw. On the turn I was 56% to win, he was 31% to win, with an 11% chance of coming to a tie. I made the correct call as you can see. Just didn't work out.

On and on

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea boyyyyyyyyyy

I find $10NL absolutely silly. Obviously people have no idea about odds to draw and will call all the way down with middle pair or a flush draw calling pot sizebets the whole way.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2242288

This hand was .. well, I don't know. I think my fold is ok here. His minbet on the flop seems to me to indicate a desire to see a cheap turn card. I made the decision that he was trying to do this so I raised. I led out on the turn as well still feeling the same about the hand. I've seen it multiple times where the player will be on the flush draw and call the reraise on the flop but shut down to a turn bet. Anyhow, I went ahead and folded on the river as you can see.

This was just a blunder on my part. I saw how short he was and just decided to put him all in. Poorly played by me.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2242333

After I made my 50 points for the day I moved onto $25NL. I feel much more comfortable there then at $10NL. I'm not quite sure why that is. I think it's nice to see more then $.75 in the pot on the flop. It's just hard to take seriously.

Easy double up for the day:

Making less bad calls pays off..

Blog by : ynotraise

The past couple of sessionshave been fairly decent with the fair share of beats and suckouts alike.

www.pokerhand.org/

Here's one that worked out for me...

www.pokerhand.org/

Overall things have been going much better. One of my most consistent problems is that I tend to not be completely focus right when I start. I want to start things off with a bang and always end up getting involved in a big hand and not being able to let it go..

This hand would be a good example of this:

www.pokerhand.org/

I'm still playing way too nitty at the moment. I run around 15/11/3. I'd like to expand that to around 21/17. I just feel like it's hard to do at this level with all of these calling stations. My post flop play needs better development when I'm not peddling the nuts.

Onto the graph..

Thanks for reading.

It's fairly obvious what went wrong there. I happy with the flop play.. sort of. After all the raising was done the pot was $3.10 and I had to call $.75 to draw. Getting the right odds I called. At this point I stopped thinking and let my ego take charge. I decided that I was going to take the pot away... uh.. didn't work out.

Only other hiccup for the evening was calling an all-in preflop against an unknown with AKs. I was getting 2-1 and figured him to have a low pp. He had JJ. It held up. Those were hands #380 and #450 or so on the graph.

That's all for the day. I made 50pts for the day again. I'm trying to get 50pts on FTP for 20 days to see some of those iron man medals. At the same time this helps me play more hands. In the past when I have gotten discouraged I have quit quickly even if I had only played 50 hands. This way forces me to rebound from poor play by myself or bad beats. It's definitely helping with the discipline that it will take to get much better over the next few months.

Starting off decent..

Blog by : ynotraise

Today marked the beginning of my new trek into online poker. I've always felt like I had a decent understanding of what was going on and how to play hands, but it turns out I was completely out there.

After watching Bystmar's videos, I have come to realize that I know so little. Things like pot management, setting up bets so that you can shove the river without overbetting the pot, thus giving the person correct odds to make a call.

Anyhow, the day went ok. I started off by playing a hand pretty poorly.

Obviously played poorly by me. I raised strongly because I didn't want to play the hand out of position. I don't believe that was a mistake. I believe the first mistake I made was on the flop by thinking that I could represent a big pocket pair. I'm not sure. All I know is that I played it pretty poorly.

Ran into some standard hands;

I figured he had a flush draw the whole time. I suppose in retrospect I should have tried to pin him on that sort of hand to begin with and bet the turn. However, after watching him play for another 200 hands or so, I watched him never fold a flush draw. Not quite sure betting the turn would have helped against this specific opponent, but it is probably the correct move against others.

Nice little cooler;

I led out and bet the flop hoping someone would call with middle pair or top pair. At this level it's fairly easy to bet and have someone tag along with a marginal hand. I've found that the best way to make money here is to build the pot yourself and not try and get cute and let someone do it for you.

I shoved the river believing he had an 8... he had one alright.

I made some money when I flopped a set of 5's. I bet the whole way, shoved the river and had someone call me with TPWK.

Anyhow, here's a graph for the day so far. Pretty ugly.

Wow

Wow.

Just joined here after getting fed up with a roller coaster ride with my bankroll.

I just watched half of a video by Brystmar... gross. I had no idea how much thought actually went into making good plays. I

always had some sort of secret thought that I was thinking on more then the first level and paying attention to things but I am missing out on soooooooo much. I stopped at 38:27 and will finish tomorrow.

Goals for tomorrow (Wed, Feb 28):

1) Finish watching video

2) Play for 1 hr of two tables at $10

2a) Try and apply things that I learned in the video

3)??????

4) Profit?

Hahah.
