Still in $2500 PLO after day 1

I think there's about 60 left and I'm a little below average in chips... the site that's best for updates is www.pokernews.com then go to live coverage then the $2500 PLO event. I have some good stories from the last few days and I'll update everything else after I bust from the tourney (or win).

Poker and Horsies with Big Hooves

I played the $2500 6 max on Monday. I had a pretty good starting table and ran my stack up to over 20k pretty quickly (you start with 7500 chips). Then I went awhile not getting many hands or hitting anything, and always getting played back at and was down to about 8k chips. So there's a little over 300 left (108 cashed)... lost JJ to A9s allin preflop. He made it 1200 at 200/400 blinds i shoved for 8k he called. He hit an ace on the river which kind of hurt but if I win that pot I'm right back to about an average stack.

Went to Bellagio yesterday for cash games and ran pretty well and had a good table. I ended up making about $4000 so right now I'm up about $5300 for the trip. Dezell gets here tonight and Nider in the morning. They have no fear they are talking like they want to go out every night and get bottle service at all the big clubs in Vegas. I'm not sure if they will still have that attitude once they realize how much that costs.

Another thing I wanted to mention in my last blog but forgot was the Belmont on Saturday afternoon. I had just arrived at Bellagio and put my name on the wait list to play but had some time to kill before I got my seat. The sportsbook is right next to the poker room so I always go there to watch every sports event that's on tv while I wait. Well it was just before the Belmont was starting and it was absolutely packed. Every seat was taken and people were packed in so tight in the entire area you could barely even move. Everyone was going crazy during the race and I couldn't even tell who won until they put the results up. In case you're wondering why I added big hooves to the title hooves is my favorite word.

Flashing 13 year old girls

Blog by : xTheNutsx

Pokerwise... All I've done the last 3 days is play cash games. Mostly at the Bellagio and a little at the Rio. The games have been pretty good and I've managed to get all my money back and then some. My tally right now is up about $3800.

This is the first day since we've been here that we haven't gone straight to a casino when we got up. Pagel and Adam have been playing online tourneys and I've been practicing pool. We have a nice pool table at the house so we have been playing a decent amount. I was the worst at pool because I never really played... but I enjoy playing and hopefully I'll be okay by the end of the trip. It's about 4:30 here now and we'll probably watch game 2 of the finals that start at 5 then head to the Rio. I want to register for the $2500 6 max tomorrow and play a little bit of cash games. One thing that's weird is that the sporting events start to early compared to what I'm used to. The finals and Stanley Cup start around 5. Today I woke up and most of the baseball games were already close to being over.

Yesterday Pagel and I are walking through the Rio to get something to eat and a group of 13 year old girls is walking beside us going to a show. The one girl looks at us and goes - Can you guys flash us? We are like uhhhh what? They say, "You know, lift up your shirts and flash us. We want to take a picture." We consider our options of what to say but elect to politely decline rather than risk getting arrested.

Big Daddy Dezell, Nider and Tehan are coming Wed night/Thurs morning so I better start to prepare because I know how Dezell likes to get wild.

Tourneys are fun, but frustrating

I played both the $1500 NL 6 max and $2500 half PLO/half PLH. I was out after an hour in the 6 max I lost half my stack with KJdd on T9xdd8x2x where I raised pf, bet flop and turn then just gave up on the river. Then lost AQ to TT after an aggressive player opened on the button to 300 at 50/100 blinds and I shoved for 2k. The structure in the $1500 events is a little bit better than last year. You start with 4500 chips which is 90 big blinds to start but still after a couple hours you have to accumulate chips.

I had fun in the $2500 half and half event. You start with 7500 chips which is a lot compared to the blinds even if you're only at starting stack for the first few levels. I ended up going out late last night around 120th (about 450 played, 45 cashed). I had a good table I just didn't get many hands and got unlucky in a couple spots. I never had more than 13k in chips so I never had a big stack. I was playing with Robert Williamson III for awhile he seems like a really nice guy (not a really cool guy like Antonio Esfandiari). For people who don't get this reference last year we were at Tao and cardrunners got us VIP passes. We were drinking and hanging out in an area with Esfandiari and Laak and they left for a little bit. Somehow we started talking to the girl Esfandiari was with all night and there was a moment of silence so I decided someone needed to say something. For some reason I decided to say - Antonio seems like a really cool guy which was a big mistake because everyone made fun of me for it for the rest of the summer.

So after losing 4k in tourneys yesterday that brings my total to about -4500 for the trip so far. We are going to Bellagio shortly to play cash so we'll see if I can get it back. I'm going to try to play mostly cash games for the next few days but I'll definitely need to play a couple more tournaments to keep sane for the next 35 days. I'm going to try to stay focused and play as much as possible since this is my job and I definitely don't put in the amount of work hours I should when at home.

I'm already tired of writing about poker hands so I probably won't write about too many unless there's any really interesting ones. I also doubt I will continue to update my blog every day I'll try for every 3 days or so or when something interesting happens.

We did figure out how to fix the oven so the timer stops going off every 15 minutes. Also someone (or something) took the giant dead bird out of our backyard either last night or this morning so we aren't afraid of going outside anymore.

In Vegas...

Blog by : xTheNutsx

I got to vegas this afternoon and moved our stuff into the house. I'm living with Pagel (high school friend) and Dahlin (met him last year in vegas while working for CR). I'm happy with our house overall it's very nice but there are a couple things I don't like. First there is a giant dead bird in our backyard that all of us are afraid to move. Next is for some reason the oven timer goes off every 15 minutes and we have to get up to turn it off. We tried messing around with it but it doesn't even seem like the timer is set so I'm hoping it we get that figured out. Third we have a hot tub but there isn't any water in it.

Anyway Pagel and I headed over the Rio to check out the WSOP action. I played 10/25 and ended up losing a few hundred. Lost a 6k race AK vs QQ button vs blind against an aggro player that was on tilt who had already shown he was aggressive pf. Nothing either of us can do and hands like this never bother me. I won most of it back by hitting a set vs top pair.

I registered for the $1500 6 max tourney before we came home which is tomorrow at noon. There's also a chance I might play the $2500 half PL holdem half PLO at 5pm if i'm already out. I don't want to waste a lot of time/money on tourneys but these are 2 of the ones i would like to play the most the entire time. Well, I'm very tired as I didn't get much sleep last night. So I'm heading to bed I want to improve on my 9th place finish from last year in the 6 max.

Oh another thing I'm pissed about is the rental car I got. Paying $1900 for a terrible Ford Focus to drive around for a month is a joke. And it appears something is wrong with the outlet that you plug the GPS into (that I brought from home) because it won't turn on when normally it's fully charged whenever it's plugged in. So if I get lost going to the Rio tomorrow I'm going to be on super tilt before the tourney even starts.
