Tilt Video on CardRunners

Hey guys, sorry it's taken so long to put up a new video. I'm a perfectionist, and been working hard on putting that last video together, and actually remade the tilt presentation 4 different times. Lot of the concepts I felt I could have expanded a lot further, but opted not to due to length and time restrictions. My last video is dedicated to Dr. Jeff Idelson, who really opened my eyes in terms of seeing things for every light. I already had some raw skills and elementary concepts in terms of dealing with tilt, but took it to another level with his help. So thanks again.

I am hoping in the future I can possibly expand on some points and clarify on any points that need explanation. I apologize for the different format, I know a lot of players may not like that but figured a change of pace, and focus on tilt, which is the cause of my biggest loses and biggest wins, would help a lot of players grow in that area. I am really trying to get each player better, and hope they don't feel the video is a waste of time. I remember not too long ago, I was playing .50-1 limit and watching Mike Schneid's videos (big thanks again!), which really improved my game. I am only hoping that my videos will do the same for future players as well.

Sorry, I'm a mess this morning and my mind is elsewhere. gl at tables guys (and girls), best of luck.

1k Monday Hand

Poker has been up and down for me lately, and I accept the variance part of the game.

Anyway, I'm not much a nl player, and I'm not much of a mtt player, but I'm definitely one that will never pass up a soft spot when I see one, so I entered the 1k Monday yesterday. The following hand transpired. Read on dfish is that he is a decent regular in the 1ks, and is able to fold small pairs preflop.

After talking this hand with a high stakes mtt player, I realized I did several things wrong on multiple levels. The high stakes mtt player's thoughts will following mine (which is crossed out).

My thoughts preflop was dfish is a wussy, and is going to fold or I'm going to hit an ace because I'm the golden boy. First, you're going to be playing 55bbs at a level with a lot of play way too early. You had two CORRECT options preflop:

a) Flat
b) Raise smaller (3.2k)

My thoughts on the flop were I'm a limit monsta, and he is going to fold because that's what people do when I have ace high. My mentor was sitting next to me when I bet flop and said I'm repping AA-QQ and that 10's and maybe Jacks would fold. The high stakes mtt player verified this and thought I should bet half pot or check turn behind.

On the turn I do a little dance. The check on the turn isn't for pot control. My hand is already polarized, and the check on the turn is mostly for deception. I should be re-evaluating the river, and maybe even check the river behind sometimes.

On the river I snap call and do a victory fist pump. In a vacuum on that river, there is very few hands he is shoving as a bluff. My hand is basically face up, and the river shove in dfish's range here is AA, 67,99. In this particular spot, he had 99.

I cried. I took this pot as a learning experience, and a building block for the future of my ever growing poker game.

(Side note: I ended up final tabling the 1k Monday. Gratz to losebigpots for taking it down, and special thanks to Chris DeMaci and my mentor for the help)

I am currently working on my new CardRunners video about poker tilt, and I am hopeful it will be finished and posted online soon.

gl at tables.
