Final Table Bubble Boy

Blog by : unknowneinstein

PLayed day 2 of the Fl million yesterday. Had a roller coaster ride but ended the day with 13 players left. I was short with about 16BBs but came in as 11th in chips. And thats what I finished today. I cant really be too dissapointed because i did get lucky a few times to make it that far. I was just so card dead from 20 guys on and I didnt have any chips where I could afford to make plays. I busted A9 vs AQ obv. I didnt care too much about making the final table since the pay jump was pretty insignificant. Whatever though i got 7200 for a 550 buyin, finished 11/1532. Feeling neutral towards it, I really wanted to win.

Day 2 of FL Million

Blog by : unknowneinstein

Made day 2 of the florida millions. Its a $550 buyin, 15k starting stack with 40 minute blind levels. Basically they have several day 1 qualifiers, where u move onto day 2 if u finish in the top 10% of day1, you carry ur chips over and everything. the day ones go on for about 6 weeks. I just played it yesterday, as it was the last weekend, and I am moving on with 190k, (average will start at about 150k). I played well all day and had a lot of confidence in all my decisions. I read everyone at my table pretty good, except one guy, but I busted him later anyways haha. I won one flip, I had the pair so I was favorite anyway lol. And I sucked out one hand A9 vs AK. Other than that I never really got lucky, had my best hands hold up, and just chipped up when I had opportunitues to. Day 2 is this saturday, starting with about 140 players remaining. Blinds start at 1000/2000 so I am confident I will do good since we will be so deep stack. FIrst place is expected to be around 200k so I'm pretty pumped. Wish me luck.

School almost done

Blog by : unknowneinstein

So today was my school's Senior Design Showcase. Exactly what it sounds like. All the seniors show off the projects we've been working on all year. A bunch of employers come in and look at them, etc. Now that its done its a huge burden taking off my shoulders. I am going on cruise control for the rest of the semester. I'm going to have so much extra time now I dont know what to do with it. I'm going to try really hard to start going to the gym or working on my poker game a lot more. If i can do one of those two things during all my extra time now I will be happy. I will try to post videos of my project (its pretty epic) but I have no idea how to post them. I recorded it on my phone so if anyone wants to tell me how to transfer it from my phone to this blog (or forum), please comment.

Finally I dink something

Blog by : unknowneinstein

So after my last blog focused on taking a small break from tournies and playing cash games for a while, I finally win something. I chopped a $24 donkament on full tilt for ~$5500, I really didnt wanna chop it cause I knew I was the best player there but I was afraid variance was going to bend me over backwards. There were 4 people left with places paying 1: $8419, 2: $5558, 3: $4128 and 4: $3228. Chip leader had like 2 million where I had like 1.3, next person had ~1 and shortstack had about 600k. Blinds were 20/40k so I felt stacks were getting a little too short for my skill to dominate. Allin by taking the deal I was taking 2nd place money whihc I'm fine with when theres 4 guys left. Definitely helps pad my bankroll a bit. Now I remember why I dont play cash games lol. Tough to turn $24 in $5k in 7 hours of poker playing .25/.50 haha.

Update....no creative title today

Blog by : unknowneinstein

So all in all I havent played much the last month or so. I skipped out on most miniFTOPS events (I played 4 I think) as my bankroll was kinda suffering and I really wasnt playing all that great. I've just kind of been playing a few select tournies here and there. I managed a 3rd place in a $24KO for ~$1900ish which really helped my bankroll a bit and gave me some confidence. I played the mFTOPS 2day event where I had a nice 12k stack about 3.5 hours in and I really made a mistake overplaying AK. Then in the main event I managed to cash 2 guys, nothing great though, a mincash and then the next payout spot after that. Even though I feel confident in my game I still think I'm going to continue taking somewhat of a break.

In other poker relatedness, I think I am going to try cash games for a bit. Thats not to say I've given up on tournies, just more or less play some cash. I used to play some before I become an MTT instructor and dedicated all my time to MTTs. Since then it seems cardrunners has put a curse on me so I cant win anything (not to mention augie coached me so he cursed me too lol). Back in the day when I dabbled in cash it was in 50NL FR. I enjoy rush but feel that I cant play that tight lol. So i'm just wondering if I should stick to regular FR, do 6max, or play around with rush some more. If anybody has any tips please feel free to leave some as I may become serious about this cash game stuff since I may not have the endless nights to play tournaments anymore.

In school news, senior design is going goodish. We have to have our project done by next friday (11 days). If it works the way it should its going to be EPIC. And then I graduate in May so yay. Also I'll be getting a full time job (hence the possible transition from tournys to cash).

Anyways all u cash game people that actually read my blog feel free to give me a tip or too. I'm going to watch verneers mt micro but if theres any other exceedingly good vids lemme know.

Long Break, Finishing School, etc. etc.

So I haven't blogged in a while, and not much has happened, at least poker related. I played two $345s at the WSOPC in Palm Beach. I finished 33rd in one to get most of my money back. It was definitely a fun experience and those were the first live tournaments I've played that actually had a good structure. I could definitely see myself traveling doing that for a living. The first event I played I managed to build my 10k starting stack up to about 40k before bluffing off 25k in a series of pots. I then got my last 15k in preflop at 300/600 with AK vs JJ and couldn't win a flip. After that I said when I came back for the 2nd event I wasn't going to run any big bluffs. So as expected, I didn't run any big bluffs and I managed to have a decent showing. I would've loved to make some money there but I'm happy with the way I played and was proud of myself for cashing in on one.

In other poker relatedness I am going to take a nice long vacation from online poker. I was planning on playing miniftops in all of its wonderful multientry glory but I don't have the bankroll nor the interest to do it right now. I will probably still do the Main event for it as I can't pass up a tournament with that much value to it. Other than that I probably won't play for a long time. I find myself lacking motivation to grind these small stakes tournaments out.

In other news, I am graduating in about 2 months and I got my job offer again up in Virginia working on Navy ships. I think it'll be a good job and it's in a nice area. Right now that's my plan in lieu of a better offer. The next month of school is going to be busy and stressed because of senior design. We are having issues getting our code together and I'm really hoping we can get it done, as if we don't have a working project we don't pass.

Other than that not much has happened. I find myself having so much extra time on my hands when I don't play. Its crazy. Well that's all for now.

Todays the Day

Blog by : unknowneinstein

Its poker sunday once again. Gonna grind my usual assortment of tournaments on full tilt and i'm taking a shot at the ftops $129KO. I only registered once (yes i know Im gonna be seen as a donk) but thats all I can afford atm. If I dont win anything today I'm taking a break until next weekend when I'm gonna play the WSOPC in palm beach, where we all know I'm going to dominate. If I get a bunch of KOs early in the ftops I might register a second guy, but that'll require me getting hit with the deck which never happens. Wait I need to think positively.... I've going to record 7 KOs in the first hour and be chipleader with 43k at the first break. Lets see how accurate I am haha. Good luck to all playing. May I steal your luck.

Life And Poker Stress

Blog by : unknowneinstein
0

So as I'm finishing up my last semester at college and about to graduate, the final work I have to do is really getting to me. Mostly its just my senior design project. For those who want to know what it is, me and a few friends will basically be building a small robot and programming it to respond to the different elements of music and dance accordingly. Different elements are like frequency and intensity. Anyhow we can't get a damn thing to work so thats kind of stressing me out a bunch. I've kind of shut down academically which is pretty bad. I just don't give a shit about any of my classes (granted their mostly electives). I'm just ready to be done with school.

Poker stress is same as always. Can't win a damn thing and I'm beginning to second guess my ability. I had recorded every withdrawl/deposit I had made to Full Tilt since I turned pro/semi-pro, and somehow I have myself making a lot more money than OPR suggests. I've not sure how this is possible since I definately have the money in real life to prove it. Its pretty bizarre and I'm trying to figure it out.

I am considering selling shares for mFTOPS since my roll took a pretty big hit throughout January. mFTOPS is going to get expensive with all the MEs. I tallied it up and it looks to be between $2.5-3k. Granted half of that consists of the 2day (216), the main event 6 entries ($450) and the $109 4 entries ($436). This would be my first time ever selling shares (I don't even post on 2+2, so I'm not sure if I could even sell), but I really don't have $3k to drop on tournaments with 10k+ fields and such high variance. Maybe I can dink something in the next month since I'm pretty sure with so many entries I am going to crush this mFTOPS, not to mention all my run bad should be gone by then (I'm praying it is).

Maybe I'll just win a WSOPC event in a 2 weeks when it comes to Palm Beach. Pumped for that!

Anyways I'll leave it at that. I have class in 10 minutes anyway. Yay electro-optic devices!

Poker Sunday and Superbowl

Blog by : unknowneinstein

I decided that I'm going to grind out a nice session today instead of looking for a Superbowl party to go to. Of course I'm going to watch it and I know the Steelers are going to dominate. This is my first majorsession of February so hopefully I can dink something. I'm playing across 3 sites so I'm hoping to start this month of right. Good luck to all playing today, except the Packers. They just straight suck haha.
