Well, I tried to make a run at easing a possible 15 month blackout last night, by going deep in the Stars $300.. $55k to first..Mustache free for first..So much on the line :)
I was 3rd in chips with 15 left and busted in 14th. It's truly remarkable how bad I've ran this year.

Chicken Little was right?

Blog by : tranquilchaos

Well, as of this being written, it looks like a bill will pass that would make Online poker legal.. Something I have dreamed about since the UIGEA went into effect in 2006. Why, then do I find myself rooting against it?

If it does go through it looks like there will be a 15 month blackout period before any sites can do business.. What I'm worried about here is all the delays that the UIGEA went through. I could see this blackout being longer, but never shorter. Assuming the 15 month blackout ends in 15 months, I will likely have to sell my house and move my family out of state. Seems to be little to no chance that Utah would opt-in to this. Sadly, I bought my house at the peak of the housing market and if sold today I would likely still owe 30-40k on the existing loan.

No foreign players for 3+ years? ugh

All of this on top of an already incomprehensible downswing that has had me already questioning my longevity in poker. Things have not fallen my way the past two years. Although,I've basically lived a very lazy, comfortable life for 6 years now because of poker.

It appears that if the bill goes through I will be
A) getting a 9-5 job, waiting out the 15 months then hopefully jumping back into poker.
B) a live pro?
C) getting a 9-5 job forever.

None of which are alluring prospects.

Black Friday shenanigans

Blog by : tranquilchaos
0

For the third year in a row, me and my buddy went and camped out for Black Friday. I wasn't getting anything too huge this time, but its more of a tradition to just go and be dumb kids again for a whole night like the good old days. Although, I did almost get my hand ripped off going for a steam mop for my wife..

The only casualty I saw was when a 15 year old kid grabbed a PS3 game and turned around to run to something else and jabbed his shoulder into one of the metal clothes racks. I did hear about super crazy people at other stores though that came to blows..Over saving $25..

It did make me laugh at how well these big stores (wal-mart) have people practically begging to take their money.. So many people we're just lined up to get one thing and end up spending 3x that amount.. (me included)

Mustache update: I had a real close call losing heads up in a $50 freezeout the other day. I went in to hds up 7:1 disadv and got it to even at one point, but thats ok.
I did offer a 4 way even split when i was severe short stack 4 handed. I actually think it was close to happening, but someone busted before I could legitimately think about it..

Movember!

Blog by : tranquilchaos

I'm still shaving everyday. For those that don't know that means I havent outright a mtt with more than 100 ppl yet... For added motivation I decided to still shave everyday, except for my mustache.
I look really hideous with a stache..as does anyone who isnt named Sam Elliot or Tom Selleck.

I have also found out that Movember is an international month for growing a stache in support of Prostate Cancer research. Like Breast Cancer month for boys!! It actually started in Australia and apparently is really big..So, now im not just growing this monstrosity for nothign :)

Had a close shaving call last night in the stars 2nd chance..17th place
I called off from bb with A9o and 15bb vs a button jam from a guy that had 50bb and routinely opened 3 and 4x..Not sure if this is a good call or not as hes clearly not good, but don't know what kind of hand a fish like that is just jamming 25bb effective.. W/e

Who I am

Blog by : tranquilchaos

I think the bottom line is I dont really have a choice. This is who I am. I can't go sit in an office again. I can't be forced to listen to some boss tell me when to piss. When to shit. When to breathe

I can't get up every morning, zombie walk to the shower, wake up and I'm conditioning my hair. Put a hat on cause I've given up, pull out of the driveway and never get above 20 miles an hour due to every other slob on to wherever. Sit through another meeting, be told I've got so much potential again.. Let those people down again..

Piñatas

I read a lot of Stephen King. My particular favorites are his short stories. Books like "Everything's Eventual", "Just after Sunset", "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" etc. He has a great way to make the mundane housewife exciting and also terrifying.

I was re-reading Just after Sunset this morning and came across this paragraph in the introduction. He is talking about when he was poor and him and his wife were just trying to get by.

"And that little bit of extra income often came from the short stories I was able to sell to men's magazines like Cavalier, Dude, and Adam. The stories, when they sold (they didn't always), were simply a welcome bit of found money. I viewed them as a series of pinatas I banged on, not with a stick but my imagination. Sometimes they broke and showered down a few hundred bucks. Other times, they didn't."

This reminded me of a mtt pro. You register for a mtt hoping this is the one that showers you with a couple hundred (or thousand) extra bucks. It's usually empty.

Reincarnation

I'm giddy. The N.O Saints and the Minnesota Wrangler ads kick off the NFL season tonight. (like anybody doesn't know this). I'm a diehard Dolphins fan, but am swinging a little bit from that WhoDat bandwagon after getting the chance to go to last years SuperBowl and watch Dreamy Drew Brees bring it home.
Rumor is Brees will lead the Superdome in a "Who Dat " chant right before.. Normally, I find gimmicks like this stupid, but like I said, I'm drinking that Black and Gold Kool-Aid.

Also, I just read that Gus Johnson will be announcing Miami's game vs the Bills on Sunday.. Needless to say I'm excited..Put it this way.. I bought Madden '11 this year after a 2 year hiatus of buying it every year, solely because Gus is the announcer.. So yeah..I'm a dork..

Also!!!! WCOOP is going on.. I have done nothing..ever..in a wcoop.. I went really deep and made day 2 of a scoop event once...but thats not the WCOOP... I had a dissappointing showing yesterday in the $200 hds up WCOOP only winning my first match. Was really excited about that event.. I'm playing the $265 6max KO in about 35 minutes..Another event I'm really excited for.. I just do better in 6max events it seems..

Go Dolphins! Go Utes! Go RedSox! Go tobias fuke! Go Tom Brady's hair not being injured in that accident this morning! Go MyPoopIsRonnieandBrown (my ffb team)! Go exclamation points!

State of mind

Blog by : tranquilchaos

I'm completely submerged underwater but my nose. I am breathing through my nose. I breathe a long breath in and let it out. When I let it out it sounds like Darth Vader. I think to myself "if I was a movie sound guy, I would want to capture this sound for when someone is in an ice cold room and you can see their breath"..

I'm thinking about poker. I breathe in and I notice my heart beat in my chest. I breathe out and there it is again.. I breath in and notice my heartbeat in my hands. Then my forearm. My whole body seems to be pulsing. Is this what goes on all the time? Are we always pulsing like this? I envision colorful waves coming off my body everytime I pulse/beat. I breathe in. This seems to be my first experience with meditation or something like it. All I'm thinking about is breathing. Pulsing. It all seems so clear.

I sit up out of the water and my first thought is like a giant neon sign flashing right in front of me. POKER.. In bright red.. Flashing.. I don't notice my pulsing anymore.
