I wonder how the hate mongerers of today will feel years from now having discrimated against the gay and lesbian communities. I assume they are so ignorant to the fact that society as a whole is coming around to treating gay and lesbian people with full equality and one day they will be looked upon as the people who enslaved black people and supressed womens rights and in general fought every other equal rights movements are looked upon today. Sixty years from now I would hate to be the ancester of someone who was actively against equal rights for everyone.

I haven't played poker for a while so I will blog about the current BCS situation.

Assuming Alabama and Florida win this weekend, the winner will be in, loser is out.

USC is likely out, but here is their case
1. Only loss to what now looks like good Oregon State team
2. Look at the point differential
3. Non Conference games against Virginia, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. Didn't schedule any cupcakes.

So that leaves the Big12 to fill the other spot

If OU loses they are out.

So Assuming OU beats OSU in Stillwater on Saturday...

The case for OU
1. They put the beatdown on Texas Tech late in the season
2. They beat what is now a 9-2 Cincinati, 10-2 TCU, and went to Washington in non conference games
3. Nations #1 scoring offense
4. They lost the quarterback of their defense in the Texas game and gave up 25 second half points to Texas. Not likely to happen again.
5. Defensive and Special Teams issue seem to be solved

The case for Texas
1. They beat OU on a neurtal field
2. In consecutive weeks they played Arkansas, Missouri, OU, OSU, and Texas Tech, and only lost in the last seconds in Lubbock. OU basically had 3 weeks to prepare for Texas Tech by having Nebraska, Texas A&M, and a week off before the Texas Tech game.
3. They have already beaten Missouri, and big, neither OU or Texas Tech has done so.

The case for Texas Tech
1. Not much of one unless OSU beats OU, then beat Missouri in the Big12 championship game

that only the vices are fun? everybody has them, drinking, drugs, gambling, strippers, shopping, whatever. even the good things turn into vices, you work out a lot, then you have to work out, otherwise you get out shape, now you can't do the stuff you think you should be doing... because you have to go to the gym, you can't eat that, because you don't eat that sort of stuff. no one is normal we should just accept that. it is life after all, we should be living it. boy that was just a rambling ranty mcrant, sorry.

haven't played any poker because i spent that whole weekend working on my new house so i can hopefully move into it this weekend, as we are suppose to close on the sale of our current house. i kind of feel stupid for not getting on this stuff earlier and have the new house ready to move in before getting an offer, but alas i am stupid. i think to myself, when we get an offer, i will have 30 days, plenty of time. well, we get an offer, on a wed, i am in chicago through the weekend, they want to close in 20 days, so i have only 2 weekends before the move, 1 will have to be for moving, so 1 weekend to actually get stuff done, aside from that it is just the evenings, and I still have to go to the gym, after all, it is vice. I did not get everything done, but by hook or by crook i will be moving if we close on time.

one of the big issues at the new house is the back yard, and by that i mean there are gaps in the fence and my dogs could get out. so i spend all day yesterday trying to make my yard dog proof, especially after saturday, while my wife and i are at the new house working, my dogs are at the old house, breaking a board in the fence, getting out, getting picked up by a stranger and dropped off at the vets office. we get back to the house about 1:50, my wife checks her vm and the vet has called because someone dropped them off, great, they close at 2, so we have 10 minutes to get there or they will be there until monday, luckily we make it in time, should have left the pain in the asses there to think about what they have done. no i don't have any kids, but i have heard that works.

The title spells the absense. Just got back from chicago and i have been swamped at work so I haven't had time to play much. Chicago was good. Went to the cubs/braves game thursday. great seats, 11 innings, cubs hit by pitch with the bases loaded no outs, good pitching game, zambrano and hudson, and it was throwback game. I heard they played the first 3 innings in black and white and only used camera angles they had back in 1948 so everything was from far away. Beer was still $6,25 so they didn't throwback the prices. I can cross that off my 1000 places to see before I die list. i was in town the same time last year but the cubs were playing the whitesox on the southside so i didn't go. figured that if it couldn't be at wrigley i would just pass, plus that was my first time to chicago. the area around wrigley is great. my wife and i went and got some food before the game, there were plenty of places to eat that weren't crowded. i was suprised. another thing i was suprised by is that so many people in chicago don't have anything to do at 1:20 on a thursday. 40000 people there. don't people work. I did see one person show up about the 2nd innning in a suit. obvious half day at work.

by the way, i know i do the weird sometimes lower case sometimes upper case. it is weird, i am lazy, move on...

At work i am discovering that i am getting to the point were if i don't put the effort in then it is starting to get noticed. for the past 2 years(at least) i have been able to pretty much coast along unnoticed and things really just get done. not so much like the seinfeld episode with george working for the yankees, more like a disfunctional circus or the emporer with no clothes, as long as no one points it out everyone is safe. to be perfectly honest, i do not know how i have survived this long. i talk to some of my friends with real jobs and they are amazed that i could not show up for days and no one would get mad. But alas i think it is coming to an end, people are starting to notice when things get done. i had to actually schedule a meeting today. i am suppose to be the one who attends the meetings, not holds them. what is the world coming too!

oh, it looks like i sold my house, so now i have to actually get on top of getting my new house ready to move into. just need to get the bathroom sinks fixed and some light fixtures up. nothing too major but we also have to pack and move, all by the 1st, so i don't know how much time i will have for poker untill after the move. i am sure i can fit some in. we will see...

because i run bad, tired of the sklansky bux line going up and the total winnings line going down, just can't seem to win a flip, or a 60/40, or a 40/60, and sometimes even a 90/10. I know it will even out and running bad makes it easier for me to concentrate on my game rather than just think i am doing great.

off to chicago for a few days, will play some, will blog when i start playing or running better.

so i have been playing a little lately. started to run better. not so much winning a lot of flips, but getting my money in 60/40 and holding up, or get it in freerolling. got a little bored, played a 4 table session of nl, it was amazing how not playing nl for a few weeks can skew your senses. I started getting dealt cards and was like, 2 cards, man this doesn't seem right, this hand sucks, what kind of hand can i make with only 2 cards. oh and you still can't bluff a station of top pair weak kicker. l learned the hard way.

I have been playing more poker, mainly plo. Still running bad. playing better, not great. I have been combing over my sessions and hh's and see a lot of the mistakes, so hopefully i can correct them. I have spent a lot of time running equity calculations on propokertools.com trying to educate myself, and that is helping. I have pretty much been treading water with my bankroll, down a couple buyins over the last 2-3k hands. A lot of the medium sized pots I have won have been betting when i think I am behind, but trying to pick the right spots. Probably not the best idea at 100plo. I know it is just a matter of time before the equity starts to work itself out, but I can't wait for that to happen. There have been a lot of spots where i get it in as a 60/40 dog and don't get there, several times I get the gin flop(like 90% equity), turn and river doom me. I will keep grinding it out.

I played a few more hands at 6max 100nl yesterday until I realized I wasn't playing my best. Usually running bad doesn't affect me this much, but I can tell it is starting too. problem is I still really love playing and putting in the hands. Early in my session I pick up ako in the bb, there was a raise from utg+1, cc in btn, i raise to 16, utg+1 4bets, i could fold, but it looks so much like i am squeezing i have to shove, he has AA, meh, that is how i run.

so I decided to play some plo instead to, only 2 table, so i can concentrate, run hot on one table, pick up several big hands, don't get paid off, on the other table, pretty quiet, pick up 58xx in bb, limped button, flop comes 479r, i bet pot, call, turn is A, i bet pot, call, turn A, motha fer, i check, he bets half pot, i fold because i suck.

I will play more plo today, so hopefully i run good.

The need to get some hosted space, allocate ~250mb to each member. Let them camtasia a video, upload it, other members could review it, comment, etc. 250mbx10000 members is only around 2.5tb which is a relative bargain considering the benefit it would bring in. I think that business model needs to move away from "more videos" as it is easily duplicated, i.e. stox and dc. I think they need to take advantage of the size of the community and let that be an asset and it will perpetuate itself.
