Drop down with tables to get outa downswing

Blog by : seriouschris

Allright now since my monster 10BI loss I played over 4k hands the last two days and lost another 4BIs. So at this point I am down 1.1k in June and def not playing my best poker anymore. So I am gonna drop down to only 6 tables at once, and also look to get a few sweats. I already played 9.5k hands so far this month and I really want to get things going well as long as I am able to grind that hard.

Tomorrow I'll have to do some work at college and also plan on hitting up the gym in the afternoon before I start playing. That should def help too cause since my recent losses I havent left home lol. Hope all you are doing better than me right now :)

Thomas

May winnings: 2.5k

Blog by : seriouschris
0

So I scrolled back in my blog to see what my goals were for May. As it turned out I only had my little challenge about maintaining a high W$WSF and I think I really did the change as far as that goes. For me being the laziest blogger ever I did not mention here so far that I hurt my ancle 3 weeks ago so I am gonna start my May-recap with that:

I broke 3 of my ligaments in my left foot and had to wear a plaster for the first week. Since then I got a splint that allows me to walk but I just started using my foot again this weekend. Before that (last 3 week) I spent on the couch all day long cooling my ancle and enjoying pain killers. Needless to say I was able to play a ton of poker lately, though I still got a decent amount of hands in as soon as I was able to sit at my desk.

The accident happened while climbing on a Saturday afternoon at our local climbing hall. After 2 hours of sports climbing we decided to finish the day with a bit of bouldering. One of my mates showed me a nice boulder problem with a jump, sure I tried it, didnt grab the edge, felt like 2meters and managed to land on my left foot. my whole weight got on my ancle and it made an awful sound as my forefoot clicked to the inside. I instarealised that something is damaged here and didnt even tried to stand up until the emergency arrived. Stupid me ...

This whole thing made me think a lot about life and goals in general, I decided a few things and also realized a few huge life-leaks but do not plan an talking about that here for now. Anyways my mood was down quite some day but now as I finally can start to walk and work out again I am def getting a lot happier.

As I mentioned in here I won my little challenge and ordered Rock band. It arrived at 23th and it really broke all expectations. That game is just pure fun and I am def looking forward to a ton of sessions on the next few weekends. School-wise I kept sucking and didnt get a lot going. My motivation as far as school work goes really dropped towards a critical point lately and I hope I can manage to finish a few exams in June at least.

Poker: Not too much to say. 100nl turned out to be very easy for me and I beat the games for ~7ptbb lately. Sure not a monster winrate but given me 12 tabling all time I consider it decent at least. Although cashing out ~$800 this month I have my bankroll now at 6k+ which was my initial border to take my first shots at 200nl. Now as I reached that point I am not sure wether I want to give it a try right now, or keep grinding 100nl for a while. I also had plans of withdrawing like 1.5k and buy an awesome desktop pc, but now I decided its better to wait until I can afford that easier.

What really gives me trouble is the party poker software. That piece of shit keeps closing itself randomly and does anything else possible to make me tilt. I would really love to try out stars cause its obv best place to multitable for me. Dunno how games are there, I guess they cant be that different but who knows. Might take 1/2 of my roll and move that to stars, try the games for a few k hands and if I like it get rest of bankroll over too. Sure that would also hold me back from moving up to 1/2 damn who knows ... Suggestions on moving up or not are def welcome :)

As far as June goals go: I wanna play 40k hands thats all I know lol. Def try to achieve that, shouldnt be to hard while getting in ~1000hands/hour. Had a decent start today playing 2.2k hands and winning 3BIs at 100nl. I guess thats all for now so I'll leave you guys with my pt stats from May, hope everything is well with everybody!

May PT shot:

I know most of these are pretty standard, but getting owned like that in only 600 hands still made me laugh lol. At least I play like god and still managed to be up 1.5BIs for the day :P

Looooooong update to come but too lazy for that right now!

Blog by : seriouschris

I just had a massive post about my weekend with my parents and my last days of poker. Sure CR offers the only one blogging software available on the net that doesnt auto-save while editing. Everything is lost now and I am not in the mood for writing that stuff down again, so here in short form:

  • Did not play any poker on weekend
  • Spent like 20 hours on the golf course
  • Had a blast getting drunk at a bbq party
  • Played 2.5k hands in the last 2 days, and won 7.5BIs
  • Blogposts should be autosaved zomg

So far thanks for reading,

No more reload bonus please...

Blog by : seriouschris

I just finished the first real tilt session since a year I guess and feel really miserable about that. I only played like 400 hands yesterday and was really busy today and my bonus was only available until tomorrow. Cause I knew I'll be busy with shopping and whatsoever I had the great idea of firing up 12 tables of 100nl on my laptop when I arrived back at my parents house at around 1am. Obv a great plan after I left the bar cause I felt way too tired!

Its been a while since I played on a weekend night, and I got really raped. Games are incredible soft, seems like at least 2 drunk guys are on every table. I start by playing bad but still getting paid off, after a while I check results (next mistake) and see that I am up $60. Now I think like: "waoh thats cool, I can sit here nearly falling asleep and still winning money!" and as cool as I am I continue to play. Sure my ego is to big to leave one table where a 40/38 directly to my left powns me hard in every hand I am. After I take a few beats I start to give no credit to anyone, feel like I get bluffed all the time and start spewing really dumb. Managed to lose (only) a bit over 4BIs, which is ok cause in the 500 hands yesterday I won more than that but still I am just so dissappointed of myself right now ...

The best of all is that I just put in a bit over one hour of painful poker, lost more than $400 over that period, feel like total garbage right now, and all that shit just to unlock my wonderful $100 reload bonus!?! This def shows me that I am not made or at least not ready for grinding bonuses/points, if I force myself to play I suck really bad lol. So from now on no more bonuses for me, instead I am gonna start focusing on my play again and try to win more moniez :)

Thomas

May continues well

Blog by : seriouschris

So I only got 600 hands in today by 12 tabling a bit. As far as my goal goes I managed to maintain a W$WSF of 49% while playing 9-12 tables, I guess thats ok lol. Sure I run good again, so I take home 2.5BIs really easy. I made 2 good light 4bets that got folds, and also managed to lay down when they have the goods. Bankroll looks really good right now (~4.4k I think) and I also soon release a $100 bonus from party.

I def have to work on being able to continue playing after taking home a nice profit. My winrate will def be at its highest if I dont start to play again after being up or down for the day, but I really want to get in more hands and grinding a lot. Dunno if I find too much time to play tomorrow cause I go climbing and have to visit school for a few ours too. In general I will not be able to log massive amounts of hands in mid-late May cause I have some school work and use every free time for climbing cause I developed a sick addiction lol. That is part of me starting to play 12 tables again, by that I can maximize hands while investing little time, and turns out I am good enough to beat 100nl with that already at least if I run good (thats what I do know :P).

Wishes out to my buddy Dan who is on a break even stretch for now, I am 100% confident he will still beat the games in May for a decent profit. Hope everything is well with all others reading this shit I am writing here :)

Thanks for reading,

Thomas

I suck ...

Blog by : seriouschris
0

... at blogging, at finishing challenges, and at putting in hands. The good thing is I do not suck at poker lol. When I started my challenge of playing 5k hands over the weekend, I should have known better. For sure I went climbing twice and besides that got drunk every single night.

I started off playing on Thursday when I found 9 really nice looking tables. As soon as I sit down sure all the fish leave (I am scary I know) and my games start to break. In general I like to start my session with ~9 tables and then drop down until there are only 3-4 playable tables are left. This time I reached that point after 250 hands and sure I knew I was up a bit. Would def be better to not check results already, but w/e I went ahead and found out that I somehow managed to donk a win of almost 3 BIs in the few hands. This made me way too happy to risk losing that again so I was already done after 250 hands on my first day lol.

Evening was nice, next day I went climbing, met up with friends and sure was not able to put any hands in cause we started drinking at 8pm already. At that point it was already pretty clear to me that I would not be able to play the 5k in the remaining time but still planned on putting in a decent session on next day. Saturday I woke up surprisingly freshened and decided to start playing after having lunch. In the first 30 minutes I was already stuck ~4 BIs but was still feeling fresh so stayed in the games. I also tried 12 tabling that time cause I experimented with a nittier, more posotional game and really felt like grinding a ton of hands. Finished my session after 1.5k hands and was sooooo happy to find out that I managed to get unstuck and was up maybe $80. After taking a break, playing a bit forza on my xbox and taking some coffee I fired tables up again (mainly cause I needed 12 party points more for weekly goal, damn you party's new reward program) and over the period of 500 hands I got paid off really nice and finished the day finally up 3BIs.

I only put in 2.8k hands instead of the planned 5k, but I def played very good, I managed to get my W$WSF up to 42% over that sample size, given that I 12 tabled mainly I think this is really decent. I experimented with my image a lot and it worked great and sure I improved a lot again. So although I did not succeed in my challenge 100%, I still wanted to reward myself for the good play: I withdrew $400 and preordered Rock Band :) Amazon says it should be here around the 20th and I am very excited for that. I can just advice everybody to withdraw a bit of money from time to time and rewarding yourself by purchasing something special, I already payed for my 37" LCD and I still feel so happy everytime I look at it, def +happynessEV.

To stay motivated I decided to focus on my W$WSF for the next 10k hands. I def have to get into more grinding and meanwhile improve my game a lot. After finishing that I will do an intense review of all my hands at 100nl so far and maybe get some good guys sweating me a bit to improve my game. Withdrawing a bit money makes me stay longer at 100nl and I really appreciate that, cause I want my game to be very decent before taking my first shot at 200nl somewhere around summer hopefully.

Now I have to hurry to get into my bed cause after climbing yesterday and today, and also having 3 hours of golf lessons today I have a hard time sitting at my chair lol. Hope everything is well with you guys!

Thomas

April results, little challenge

Blog by : seriouschris
0

So what can I say about April ... I did have second 1k+ month in a row, I got fortunate to run super hot when I moved up to 100nl which helped to make up for all my mistakes. My bankroll is at 4k right now and I feel quite comfortable at the new level.

PT stats for April:

I always feel the need to set myself goals or do some sort of challenge. I find myself starting to play a lot weaker as soon as it comes to abd grinding. So I took one day off yesterday and decided to start May with a little challenge:

Play 5k hands at 100nl until sunday while maintaining a W$WSF of 43%+!

My W$WSF stat is just way too low right now with only being 39.5%. I dont focus enough on small pots, and I also tend to give up too easily. To combat that I will play 4 days of focusing very hard on picking up every single pot I can take a stab at.

I order to motivate myself for performing good I also set myself another goal:

If I win 4BIs ($400) during that 5k hands I am gonna cash
out that amount and buy Rock Band for my Xbox360.

When I cashed out the last time to buy my new TV I felt really great for quite a while. I think I am gonna continue setting myself little goals and keep rewarding myself with smallish cashouts and purchases. This should def boost my motivation for playing well greatly.

Thanks for reading,
Thomas

PS: I am gonna post my blog entries both here: seriousownsya.blogspot and on my CR blog from now on. Maybe I get a few hits in that way lol
