OMG when does it stop?

Blog by : randyhereman

When does this downswing stop? I started with $5K in November and now I'm down to $1.3K again.... I just loose all my flips, doesn't matter if I am 50/50 or a 90/10 favorite, I tend to loose them all.........

I was playing NL200, move down to NL100, move down to NL50. Changed my game to PLO50. I played well, learned a lot in a short period of time. Off course I make some errors but if I look at EV graph I get a little depressed......

I move down to PLO25 now and I want to win 20 buy-ins before I move up again...

Improving my game :)

Blog by : randyhereman

It's been only a few days since I'm playing PLO. I have to say it is really swingy and running good is a big part of making money. You stick in your money a little faster then with NL HEM and hands have different value, witch you have to get used to.

Here are some hands that I played today witch where interesting.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3719048
Villain is raising almost a 100% on my BB and the last 5 orbit I've answered by 3betting him IP, he folded 3 times and 2 times he called. I think he is getting a little bit frustrated by me so I expect him to play back at me a little lighter.
I flop a hand that villain wouldn't expect me to have and I c-bet a lot smaller the normal, hoping for a c/r to be able to get all-in on the turn or river. I turn the nuts and get it in as a 77% favorite.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3719054
I was planning on c/r the flop but since the other villain called I thought it might be better to see a cheap turn and then c/r or donk the turn. I like the turn card pretty good since only 45xx got there and I feel like it didn't hit the IR his range hard. And even against 45xx or TTxx I've got like 35% equity in the hand. Unfortunate villain did have 45xx for the nuts and the river didn't help me

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3718948
I flop top two pair and I lead. I don't know villains range for raising me here since I don't expect him to hold 22xx here and 88xx or 77xx is unlikely since I hold both of them (maybe this is to much of a NL HEM mindset??). I decide to call the c/r and hope for blank and then bet/fold the turn to make him pay for his draws. The river misses all the draws and only A8xx has got there. I decide to check, hoping he would check it down. Villain pots it instantly and I use my full time bank to make a hero call with 2 pair. My thought proccess was that villain would be happy to check behind all his SD hands since he wouldn't get paid off buy any worsed hands. Even top two he might check behind since I could have a set here and his range doesn't contain any set except 22xx but he would have raised it on the turn.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3718016
Not sure if I am that happy with my play here. I only paid $1,25 but since I've got bottom set and there is so much dead money in the pot I decided to shove the flop. It turns out I got it in as a 40% favourite, 4 way. But it wasn't enough.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3717979
Villain was raising a lot of buttons and I decided to make a stand. He 4 bets and at PLO50 that's always AAxx. Since I got 2:1 I called hoping for a decend flop and get villain to put in the rest of his money. I flop good, decide to shove the money in first, having some fold equity. Villain calls and I win.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3717925
I call the flop to use my position and hoping to hit my gutter or my flushdraw and seeing if the board doesn't pair. I turn the nuts and decide to only call, inflating the pot and hoping to sqeeuze out a big river bet.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3717914
I flop the 2nd nuts plus a backdoor nut flush draw. Villain makes a bad call and turns the nuts, lucky for me I suck-out on the river.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3719249
I stacked villain twice within 5 minutes. He might be tilty and since he is only 40B deep I instatly shove and suck out :)

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3719257
IR donks, Villain instant pots it. My read on him is that he is insanly spewy and would do this with a extremly wide range of hands. Unfortunate I'm only drawing to a 1 outer.... Still happy with my play though.

I've played two session today. Almost putted in 1K hands. I will play another two hour session before I call it a day. I got in some interesting spots. What I like about PLO is that you have so many possibilities and ways to play hands. Bluffing is extremely profitable if done well and position is the most improtant thing since it makes your decissions so much easier.

BR update: $1842,-

I know I said I wouldn't play any HU anymore. But since I don't have any discipline and like to gamble I wanted to play some HU today. I started of really good but was running like shit. I don't like to brag about those things but here is my first graph of Omaha Hi.

At least I like the fact that I'm getting my money in good... Now it's just a matter of time and let the skill work itself out..

My BR dropped to $1663

PLO session review

Blog by : randyhereman
0

Another session. This time a losing one. I started good but dropped a couple of buy-ins losing a lot of my flips.

http://weaktight.com/690284
Here I am a 65% favourite to both KKxx hands. On the flop I'm still a small favourite to but with his flushdraw my equity drops a lot. The turn I hit the nuts and the river is 'off course' a spade... To bad.. next time better.. Got it in well, that's all we can do...

http://weaktight.com/690115
I'm happy with my play here. I think it's pretty standard to get the money in on this flop. Although I think it is the worsed flop and for sure there are some sets/straights out there I just can't fold anymore with all the deadmoney in the pot.

http://weaktight.com/690078
I'm sure he's holds top set here but since I've got the nut flush card I decide to take a stab and try to bluff him of his hand. Off course he is not folding here (questionable??) and then I'm not happy with myself shoving the other $12 dollar in. He is obviously never folding anymore and I need to spike a 2 outer to win... Bad turn play.

I'm pretty happy with my progression in my PLO game. I just started playing PLO this week and I feel like I'm already playing good enough to beat PLO50. Hope tomorrow will be a better day and I'll be able to win my flips and get a nice heater. Up to PLO100....

At the moment my BR is $1800 dollar. I hope to reach $2500 by the end of this week playing PLO and then I might take a shot at PLO100 if the games look good..

Where is the discipline?????

Blog by : randyhereman
0

Where is the discipline. Looking back now I'm disappointed in myself for not closing my laptop after 23.00 and keep on playing. I wanted to go to bed. Just needed to wrap up some stuff on my computer and after a final look at the FTP tables I saw my favourite donk came on-line and I could find two tables with direct position on him..... Even if my BR isn't even close to a PLO100 bankroll and I don't control the game as much as I should I do feel like I have such a big edge on this guy that I still wanted to take a shot. I played a little tighter and limped a lot more instead of raising. But I made a nice 250$ profit... Making my day break-even.

I didn't lose any flips and run pretty well. Here the biggest hands..

http://weaktight.com/690493
Jakka is the big donk here, he plays way to many hands (over 60%) and if he wants to play a hand PF he will play it regardless of the price. I flop the nutflushdraw and villain bets out. I see him doing this mostly with 2 pair, sets or a made straight. Maybe a huge draw, something like Tc Jh 8c Kh. I decide to call and keep Jakka in the pot. I turn the nuts and villain bets out again. I feel like he's got either a straight or a made flush now and I decide to raise and get some value out of him. Jakka turns top set and he calls and villain folds. My flush holds and I win the pot.

http://weaktight.com/690494
PF I raise to isolate the limper and play him in position. Jakka also joins again (as ussual) and we see the flop 3-way. I feel like I can't really rep anything on this flop and check behind. I turn the (2nd) nuts and Jakka leads into me for pot. I don't think raising here is the good play. My hand is just a lock and is only beaten by 66xx and if he is bluffing I would like him to bluff again on the river. He doesn't and fold to my smallish bet.

http://weaktight.com/690491
I kind of flop the nuts, only 66xx beats me and I wanted to make a weakish bet hoping he would c/r me with air (or a 6). He only calls. Checks the turn, telling me he's got something he would like to go to SD with. He calls my potbet on the turn and checks to me again on the river. I think his range here is either an overpair AAxx or trips 6's with a weak kicker. I do think a 6 would have played it less passive and therefore I decide to make a small suckerbet he will call with his AAxx or he might think I'm weak and repot.

http://weaktight.com/690489
My favourite villain.. My call PF is pretty marginal I guess but against him I feel lik when I do flop something good I will get paid off since he is overplaying all his hands. I flop the nuts witch is always nice and he bets into me. I raise it a little below pot. He is really agressive and might repot with his flushdraw or 2 pair+. When he calls I have no idea what to put him and still now I have no idea what he calls the turn with and folds the river. Maybe a hand like AhKhJcTd but I think he would have jammed that in on the flop since I noted him as a huge gambler. Any thouhts about this by anyone??...

http://weaktight.com/690481
Again against the same villain. He can't fold AAxx or KKxx preflop and as soon as he coldcalls my 4bet I'm sure he is holding KKxx. He jams it in on the flop and I obviously call.. This time m AAxx hold :).

http://weaktight.com/690484
I flop well, top set and just pot, pot, pot. On the river I know I've the nuts and since there isn't that mutch he can have (i've got the QQ's and I hold one of the 6's) I decide to bet only 2/3 pot since there isn't so much in his range that could call me..

Quite a lot of hands. I don't know if anyone i even reading this blog but analysing hands and calculating equity's is opening my eyes to the possiblities and hand strengts in PLO. I can recommend it to everybody.

Anyawy, my plan to go to bed at 23.00 has been delayed untill 03.00. A good session but a little dissapointing not being able to keep discipline and keep myself to my plan.... Let's see if we can do better tomorrow!

Addicted to PLO

Blog by : randyhereman

What a fantastic game. You need to gamble a little more but people donk off there money so easy with so little.

http://weaktight.com/688560
There was this one player I who is normally playing PLO50 but went on playing PLO100 and he is a huge donk. I decided to open up two tables where he was sitting at and I had position on him. I opened UTG with AA82ds, BTN calls and the fish opens pot from the BB. He can't fold PF so I repot and the BTN obv folds but the BB calls. I have 93% equity in the hand but I still lose unfortunatly

http://weaktight.com/688619
Here I'm a 2:1 favourite when the money goes in. The turn looks shitty but equity wise it didn't change. I'm excally a slightly bigger favourite. But when the river hits I freak out and still see the money shipping to my stack...... I look back and I discovered I rivered a full house, lol......

http://weaktight.com/688777
Here it turnes out I'm a huge dog (3:1), witch I didn't expected. Preflop it looks like he's got AAxx since he never 3 bets. He might be a little tilty vs me because I just hitted a 4 outer. Supringsingly to me I found out to be better of, him having 2 sets then only 1. If he did have someting like, let's say AsAdJhTh, I would have been a small favourite, so getting it in here verses his range aint that bad I think.

I love this game and I'm looking for somebody to talk through spots and hands. I'm really motivated and I'll be playing a lot untill the 22nd of January. After that I'll move to Venezuela to keep on training before the World Cup season starts.

Mental note!

Blog by : randyhereman

Just a mental note to myself, I would like to post here..

1. I'm not allowed to play HU anymore untill my BR is over $5K.
2. I need at least 100BI to play any game HU.
3. After 0:00 I'm never allowed to play anymore.
4. 5 times a week sporting/fysio
5. Bedtime is before 23.00 during the week.

If I can keep myself to that, Everything is going to be good! I wasted at least 500 dollar this week by playing to late some HU PLO or NL HEM....

Variance, changing games

Blog by : randyhereman

It's been a while since I posted anything on my blog. I didn't feel like posting anything since I was running so bad. That's part of poker and I learn to except it. If you can't handle the swings, you just shouldn't play the the game...

I changed my game and started playing more PLO . I love this game. The challange of mastering/learning a new game is cool. I sometimes play like a complete donk but that's part of the start... For now I'm winning just a little but when I gain my edge I expect to win a lot more, since people get it in so easy at the lower limits..

Goodnight to all.. I'll write more later..

Randy

Regs suck!

Blog by : randyhereman

Poker was going really well. I had a 3 day break from poker and started again on thursday. Untill last session I only had winning days. I made 650 dollar at NL50 and took a shot at NL100. I 3bet JJ from the SB vs a 25/18 regular and he calls. We are both 100BB deep and the pot is now 26BB's and we have 75BB's behind. De flop comes Jc8h5h. I bet 11BB's he raises to 33BB's and I shove with the rest of my stack. He snaps with Q9 of hearts... WTF are you doing with Q9s in a 3bet pot. Even though you have position. People are taking this 3betting war way to far and start calling so light, even against unknowns... The turn brings the K of hearts and he ships the pot.. NH sir!!

The next 10 minutes I lose another 4 times my stack with huge suck-outs and coolers. Two times I flop or turn trips in a 3bet pot, in position. And the REG showes up with buttom or middle set. Caliing 13% of his stack to setmine OOP......

My BR was 2.1K but taking such a shot is destroying my roll and it's back at 1.7K... It makes me tilt so bad that I just want to kick al these people that are calling themselfs good player and regulars at a certrain stake where as they play like shit and just have there luckbox on.....

I'm obiously writing this while I am still on tilt...

Tomorrow I'll fly to Holland.. The trip will take a long time (low budget) and we will arrive Wednesday in Holland. I'll hit the tables again on Thuesday at NL50.. Let's hope it will bring some more luck.

Ciao,
Rady
