September results - Good bye NL25

Blog by : pocketfish007

Hey folks,

I'm here with the results of September. I played 14k+ hands which isn't much. I played not so well imo, lost controll in several occasions (NOT tilt) and had to pay my dues. BTW 10th consecutive winning month.

Results:

In the middle of the month I had my 2nd coaching and we talked about my lack of motivation because my coach also sees as an issue. He sees I'm making progress which is very good. I thought much about it and finally decieded to step up a level after my loooong nl25 carreer. My coach says I will most likely have the same winrate at nl50, and i'm more then overrolled for the level so it's time to give it a shot.

Here is the result of my NL25 carreer:

So here are some expectations from my nl50 carreer as a newbee:
- start to know/understand the game more
- learn to develop a good thought process, learning to always find the optimal action
- reduce auto-piloting time
- learn how to review my sessions in a way that really helps my learning process
- I want to be a better player and not a grinder
- keep open mind for new theorys, interesting situations
- win more :-) (understandable)
- blog more

So that's about it. Welcome NL50, and Goodbye NL25 i hope i never see you again :-)

C ya next time,
pocketfish

August results - i need a wake up call

Blog by : pocketfish007

Hi,

it's been a long time since my last post. Honestly I have problems with my motivation nowdays, but today I finally find it again so don't worry about me. Told my coach to give me some advice how I can keep myself motivated, hope he has a few tricks in his pocket.
So, let's see how august was poker wise. As I already told you I didn't felt to play much. Question to myself: How can you think that you will improve with zero detrmination?
I ended up in the green again at the end but i consider this one as a breakeven month. Actually it's my 9th consecutive month with a small to medium win. Sometimes i think a need one big alarm siren, or someone who shouting "WAKE UP! PLAYY FINALLY!" into my ears.

The results:

I promise today I will turn the I'M SERIOUS switch ON! :-)

Tomorrow coaching session nr 2. I think Steve will kick my a.s.s for this month :-(

Cya next time!

Hi guys,

i'm here to give a short update about the progress i've made.
The 2nd coaching session went very well. It's amazing how much confidence you can gain in 1.5 hour. Don't get me wrong, my coach doesn't repeat "You're the best" 90 minutes long, but to experience how a real player thinks understand the logic and motivation behind the plays and to know that i will get there too can boost it amazingly.
Steve asked me for some modifications before the 3rd coaching and already started to apply these into my play. We talked about cbet sizes and flop texture to cbet so these are the main scenarios i should work on in the next 10k hands. He said that my progress goes well and in the 3rd session we will shift our focus to the villains.

Although i start to feel myself better as a poker player this months results are not so good. After 5k hands i'm down 6bis which is not a tragedy but feel that i had to fight against variance the whole month so far. It's not a big deal because the bad streak will end and i can bounce back finally.

In SGB5000 we thrust! :-)

cya next time

Back from holliday, bad streak continues

Blog by : pocketfish007

Hi everybody,

finally back from holiday. Sadly i don't had much time to deal with poker related stuff but guess it's still OK to have some pokerfree days to refresh your mind.
Yesterday i've played ~850 hands with the same results as the last two session, somewhere around -60$. After the long break i've tryed to approach the tables somewhat passively to get the feel back and than continue with my normal agression. It went well, didn't really had much to win with but still was able to come up with a medium profit until i've arrived to a hand where i lost a stack. Try to describe the scenario.

MP nit opens, CO nit calls, BTN me calls with TT, BB calls.
FLOP 22T. MP opens for 3/4 pot, CO calls, I made a small raise, BB and MP folds CO calls.
TURN 7. CO checks, and i check very quick behind.
RIVER Q: CO opens for 3/4 pot, i shove he calls with QQ to win the pot.

I somewhat tried to show weakness with the check from the turn, wanted to show that the flop raise was a bad steal attempt. I would think i lost value here with not betting the turn because he would call me with any overpair.
Yeah i have leaks in my thought process but i do think actually that chasing the nit away here is a very bad idea, and not shoving river also. I can't be affraid of him, the only hand that beats me is QQ and 22. but sure get a call from JJ, KK, AA, AQs, 77. He flats with QQ from CO really surprised me actually :-(

Coming from this shock i've lost 3 bis in 200 hand where my dear maniac villain spiked his outs on turn everytime.
Clearly i was on tilt and i should have stand up right after the 1st bi loss after the hand above because that one affected my play and while i do think i should have played it somewhat differently.

It's time to say good bye to the NOLOOKSTREAKOMETER. 25 sessions in--a-row without looking into the results i think i'm comfortable to say : i've done it.

Tomorrow is a coaching session but before i will have a session, hope to bounce back and regain some confidence.

Until next time, GL at the tables.

July results with coaching

Blog by : pocketfish007

Hi guys,

a bit late but i'm here with the results of July. I drew a yellow line to show you when the coaching started.

The first ~5k hands after the coaching session went soo well but than something happened. My task is now to review the sessions and find differences between the two periods. I also will count the money i've lost in pots where i clearly made a mistake or bluffed my stack away. Hope i really will have time for all this because it's really interesting and can be a huge boost in the developing process.
All in all i'm satisfied with the results and semi-satisfied with my play showed in July but i'm 100% optimistic about the future.

About the streakometers:
NOLOOKSTREAKOMETER: 24 - one more and i can say goodbye to this.
6MAXSTREAKOMETER : 2 - will continue to use this because it helps to focus more if i play on fewer tables.
SLEEPINSTEADPLAY: 0 - i'm not sure about this one and how useful this is but somehow i should motivate myself to wake up for early sessions.

GOALS for the month:
- play 15k hands after the next coaching session
- maintain iron man
- review sessions and analyze
- post interesting hands in the google group finally

that's all i hope next time i can shove up with some interesting analizys about July and some good results from this month.

Until next time,
CYA

The poker weekend #2

Blog by : pocketfish007

Hi,

here with some results, call it a 2nd poker weekend. It didn't went so well as the first. In the first two session i've experienced some bad luck, lost with a flush against higher flush 3-4 times. I had over 4bi loss but than i made a nice comeback with two great sessions. In the 4th session there was a deep set over set win against a nit. The last session was pretty bad though. I barely won any pot, didn't flop a thing and my bets and raises didn't had much respect. all in all the total result is -18 which is not bad but after that comeback i waited more from the last session but it's ok, better luck for me next time.

Poker weekend #2 results:

6MAXSTREAKOMETER: 1
NOLOOKSTREAKOMETER: 21
SLEEPINSTEADPLAY:

Two session and i will post the result after the coaching. Already agreed with SGB5000 on the next coaching session which will be on 13th August.

cya next time.

Afternoon practice

hi,

i'm here with the latest session. I'm angry about myself, donked on several occasions, payed one set out with TPWK just to been able to say "i knew you had it". In the other hand slowplayed my set aginst villain and shipd the money in as he got his flush. Foolish.
In the otherhand i can feel myself lucky because this is another a minimal lossing session. I just can't keep focusing and i don't know why.

Result:

The post of the final results nearing, hope i can make a final push to make it even better as it looks. Have to reorganize my play though.

6MAXSTREAKOMETER: 0
NOLOOKSTREAKOMETER: 16

I hope tomorrow i can bounce back...

Until next time, GL to all at the tables.

I can donk too...

Blog by : pocketfish007

Hey guys how's goin?

Today morning i've played my worst poker in recent memory. Really. I don't even need to review the session because i already know i'm beaten and what villain had in most cases before showdow and still payed the drunks off... I'm soo lame. I can be actually happy with the result because i was even on more than -3bi down, i had a good comeback but man...it's sad to realize that i can still play like a moron :-(

Result:

I hope i can bounce back from this bad play in the next 2k hands because if it doesn't change, my coach will seriously kick my a.s.s.

Have to introduce another meter to monitor another weakness. Because my best time to play poker is 3AM-6AM (i have a full time job and family) I always have to weak up early, but on occasions i just shut down the alarm and sleep. I know i must have enough time to sleep, but if i want to be a pro in the future i have to bring this sacrafice. So this meter will show the number of days when i shut down the alarm instead of playing. I will reset this meter every month.

6MAXSTREAKOMETER: 1
NOLOOKSTREAKOMETER: 14
SLEEPINSTEADPLAY:
0

CYA next time.
