I'm just gonna come out and say that 50NL is an easy game. Wonder what this would look like if I table selected...

Finally!

Blog by : Pinkish

I finally final tabled a guarantee tournament. I've won a whole bunch of non guarantees but tonight I made it to the final table in one of the daily doubles. Yeah it's not like a big buy in tourney or anything and I did bust in 8th but I've been looking for that guarantee final table since I started playing poker.

I think all the work I have put into cash games has helped me develop into a decent tourney player. We'll see how that turns out though.

On the flip side, I have been running like SHIT in cash games. 16BI under EV for the month, but I'm not even tripping. I'm playing well for the most part and I'm sure it will even out some day.

Good luck!

Update

Haven't blogged in a while so thought I would just update a bit. I've been on a pretty bad run at 50NL but I think it's turned around for the most part. I've also got a pretty solid idea for the CR video contest so I'm going to start working on that and see if I can put together something you all will benefit from and enjoy.

I'll blog again soon. Hopefully with some more interesting stuff but for now good luck.

Hello 100NL!

Blog by : Pinkish

I played my first full 100NL session today and it went pretty normal I would say. After padding my bankroll with that tourney score I feel completely comfortable at 100NL and feel like I can take advantage of whatever situations do arise.

I'll keep you guys updated on my progress at 100NL.

Also, I guess I'm not as bad at tourneys as I thought I was. Either that or I'm on a heater because I decided to play some 90 man SNG's as well as some more guarantees and I took down one 90 man, pretty much bubbled in every other one except for one where I got it all in with QQ vs AK on a 9 high flop and turn came a K. I also ran pretty deep in one of the guarantees before getting runner runner for my whole stack. Oh well, I'll keep mixing in some tourneys with the cash games. Maybe I can get a good score again one day. I'm still in desperate want of a guarantee final table though.

Bubbles

Wow. So I had one of my biggest scores last night in the MiniFTOPS #12 for about 2.9k. I was so close to that final table but I decided to run a bluff that cost me half my stack and then couldn't recover after that. I wanted a final table so bad. I was also the final table bubble boy in the daily double. That one really hurt. Just one time give me that final table!

I had a ton of fun and was actually a lot less disappointed when I busted out of these tourneys than I have been in the past. I used to not play MTT's because I would get so tilted when I would bust but looks like I've matured alot. Hopefully this wasn't just me luck boxing it one time and I can get some more decent scores in the near future.

MiniFTOPS #12...

Blog by : Pinkish

So I managed to satellite into MiniFTOPS #12 tonight and I'm pretty excited. It's the second largest buy in tournament I have ever played online and like everyone else playing it I'm hoping for the run good tonight.

I've still yet to hear from any tournament players that might be willing to help me out. lol then again my blog gets like no hits so that shouldn't be a surprise. If anyone does stumble across my blog and has read this far and happens to be a somewhat successful tournament player, AND needs help with cash games HIT ME UP! I just want to taste the final table virtual felt of a guarantee ONE TIME!

I don't feel so well...

I think I have the tournament fever! Seriously, I want to play a final table! I have won a whole bunch of non guarantee tourneys and had a few REALLY deep runs in some guarantee tourneys but I've never final tabled a guarantee. I'm really craving that excitement.

I feel like my MTT game is pretty damn solid but there may be some things I am missing here and there. So I'm looking for a few people that play MTT's as their main game. In particular some that might be interested in transitioning to or learning cash games. I can offer a ton of help to get a fellow CR member crushing cash games but I really want to get some help with my MTT game.

My main game is 50NL 6max but I jump up here and there. I'll probably be playing 100NL permanently soon but I'm such a bankroll nit sometimes it takes me a while to move up. I'm willing to start at any level I'm not really one of those guys that is bothered by playing micro stakes tourneys. So if anyone is willing to lend a hand I would much appreciate it.

Studying Poker

So my Aggro Vs. Aggro game is coming along quite nicely. I've really been trying to apply a lot of pressure on all my opponents and it's been going well. It is quite amazing what wacky things you see at 50NL when you start bluff raising river. I've heard it in a lot of videos about how people just aren't bluffing the river enough and that is what I am trying to do. I've ran into some really crappy river 2 pairs or the absolute nuts occasionally but it is also getting me paid in the big pots so much more often.

To help me out with all of this I've set out on a mission to watch every SSNL CR video released in '09 and take extensive notes. I've all ready made it through Jan. '09 videos and it is funny how sometimes you forget really basic stuff. Having taken notes on even the most basic things stated on the video makes it feel like I've re-solidified my fundamentals and has again pushed my win rate further.

I feel like one of my problems is that I learn new concepts and somehow have less regard for the older ones when what I should be doing is using the new concepts on top of the old ones to strengthen my play. Doing this exercise of taking notes on videos has been long and tedious but it really seems to be paying off.

I'll see what becomes of my SSNL game after I pound out the 11 months of videos left. If it progresses as much as it has just from the first month worth of videos then I would be ballin' soon.

Best of luck at the tables.

50NL It Is

Blog by : Pinkish

So after looking at my monthly results I noticed I've been giving 50NL a real beat down. Well maybe not a beat down but it sure seems like it is pretty easy to beat for a decent winrate. I'm gonna hang out there for a while and try to get a big bankroll going because I'm still not comfortable taking certain lines at 100NL. I had a really good squeeze spot come up and when I hit the pot button and saw the amount it was gonna cost me I backed out on it and instantly sat out.

So anyways 40k+ hands at 50NL at just about 5BB/100 for the month of April feels pretty good. Oh and lol at PTR they, they are so off.

Anyways, I'm gonna be looking to get a little more involved in the forums and I want to start coaching a bit more so if anybody is interested in getting coaching at 25NL or lower get in contact with me either through Skype, AIM or private message me through CR.
