Ivey Statement, Golf/WSOP Update

0

Brief update:

I'm not quite sure what to make of Ivey's lawsuit. On one-hand he has never seemed to be anything short of class, with the Wynn craps incident being the lone blemish on his record. He exhibited great honesty repaying some outstanding debt to Chip Reese's family after he died, in a situation where a lot of people (I would imagine) would have just stayed silent.

I think it's too optimistic to think Ivey's lawsuit is strictly for Average Joe online player. He has a big financial stake in how all this plays out and to think that there isn't some incentive for him to pad his pockets a little is quite dumb. He can come out of this as a PR genius in most scenarios and there are definitely some, probably not all, selfish motives.

In other news:

I think I'm headed out to the WSOP/Vegas in a few weeks, a last minute decision. I think I may play a prelim event or two and then maybe a Venetian Deepstack. I'm hopeful for some good PLO cash game action at Aria or Rio during those times and I'll try to play 16-20 hours a day to get my fix. Maybe I can carry over my rookie luck from the Venetian and FT a WSOP event!

Golf has been good. I played last weekend and managed to card two 73s despite having two OB balls and two 3-putts. The sickest part of the weekend is that I played 8 par 3s (statistically the hardest holes) and played them in 5-under par. I birdied all 4 par 3's on the Back 9 during the weekend and played very well. Hopefully I'm not peaking too soon because I am going to work hard for my Club Championship this summer.

Good luck to all of you out in Vegas. Hope to see a few of you when I'm out there.
