In every bar, they know your drink...

Blah work. Havent been playing much these last 2 months. The stock market has been getting crushed lately so I decided to pull a lot of my winnings and invest it in some financial stocks. Bad idea until today. BBT is up about 10% with their earnings coming out tomorrow. With Wells Fargo posting good results and jumping 25% hopefully that translates into BBt doing the same thing tomorrow. Its still down from where I picked it up, but I think there is a lot of value still in it, even if it takes it a year to realize it. Been pulling 40+ hours of work lately so I haven't had much time to sit at the tables. I dont like playing at the beginning of the week and I usually have company on the weekends so I can't really play then. So, its usually just a session or 2 on Wed or Thurs. Down a little for the month, but that is mostly because I have not put in all that much time/thought in improving. But, April/May was extrememly good for me...in a month things will change since I am going back to school. Hopefully I can permanently move up to 1/2 rather than playing at .50/1 for the fall. Bills, Bills Bills

Cry Me a River

Very very good times in Vegas. The last time we were all down there, i had like 8 positive sessions (including blackjack). A friend of mine and I had a red eye coming back sunday night and decided to eat at Strip Steak on the Mandalay Bay's dollar. It was amazing. They had fries cooked in duck fat...duck fat! It was great. Anyway, we had reservations for 7:00 that night and decided to go over to the luxor to get $30 from a free promotion...big mistake. We sat at a $15 min blackjack table and i saw a $100 chip on the floor. I picked it up, and then proceded to drop $600 in about an hour. Keep in mind, I had just had 8 winning sessions at cards and blackjack, but come on. The lesson I learned was not to "take" money from a casino as it could derail the karma train. So, for this trip, I swore if I saw money laying outside of the pit, that I was going to leave it. We ended up staying at the new york new yor (i.e. the only casino where there are no smoking hot ladies walking around). So, I saw a $10 bill laying on the ground underneath a blackjack table and refused to pick it up. I had learned my lesson back in April. It was there when I sat down and stayed there until I left. The last night we were there, we got dressed up and went to a nice restaurant at the Mirage. They have a "meat experience." Eaily top 10 names of all time for a food theme. I walked off with a friend while were waiting for our first round of brazilian margaritas to go to the bathroom. What happens in there? I walk to a urinal and there is a slot machine voucher on the shelf above the urinal that was worth about $80. I debated taking it and decided that it belonged to someone else and not the Mirage, so I was safe...wrong. Dropped $500 that night after only have 1 losing session the entire 4 day weekend.

The lesson as always...Im an idiot.

As for the tables, the streak continues. Ive put in about 180 hours since Feb 15th and am continuing to run well. Im playing at 7.15/100 bb. Im happy with that. I have moved up to 100nl permanently and am splitting my time there with some hands at 200nl. Here is my fav hand of the week.

I don't know what I was thinking...OH WAIT...the guy was playing 54/28/7. He is on my buddy list now, although I doubt we see him again. I got it back about an hour later, but I was ready to go to sleep...and couldn't

Decided to treat myself to an iphone, and dear god what a toy. The thing is amazing. Next month, I think a computer upgrade is in store. We will see if the poker gods allow it...late

MMMMM...4 more days

4 more days until we head out to Vegas...And to no ones suprise Carolina is in the ACC tournament finals. Hansborough had his jersey retired on Senior night. The only thing is that he is a Junior. He seems like a smart kid and his family has money. Hopefully that translates into him coming back another year. I don't get why the scouts are thinking he isn't going to be a good pro. Really? He's not good for 15 and 8 a night? Come on. The cards are continuing to fall my way. Only had 1 losing session out of my last 8. I'm up around $3000 playing 50 and 100nl in the last 3 weeks. I also went deep in the 11+R 55k guarenteed the other night, actually 2 nights in a row. I hate tournaments with a passion. The players all seem like the muppets that I run in to when Im 20+ tabling at 25nl ring games. Here is the hand that bounced me on the bubble the other night. If the guy doesn't hit his 4 outer, I'm in 2nd place.

Congrats by the way...The next night I decided to play again with much better results--came in 104th for $102. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I've won 3 out of my last 4 HU SNG's satellites for entrance into the Sunday Million. I just kept the tournament dollars and played some turbo sngs. ITs amazing how many people will call off on the bubble with A-rag and KQ for all of their chips. Made about $300 last night in about 5 hours of play. Here are the more interesting hands...

Standard. Keep it coming

This next guy was insane. He was playing 63/23/4. HE had almost 4 buyins at one point and couldn't fold A-high. Top pair is the nuts. Dude had fired on all streets in his last 5 hand. He is on my buddy list.

Pretty tight player, and he was only playing 1 table. He had 1 of 2 hands..."All I got to do is hit the flop" (and i did)

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2278287

These hands happened pretty close to each other. He could not wait to give me his chips...

I had just called a 3-bet shove from a shorty with QJs after opening it UTG. This is why those plays work in the long run when people are paying attention...

I mean...nice hand

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2278327

Last one...I'm not folding. He had shoved AK on a QJ4 board 10 minutes before this hand.

Probably going to take the day off. Although sundays ARE +EV days...just like every there day. Looking forward to StripSteak at the Mandalay Bay this coming up weekend. They cook their fries in duck fat...thats right, duck fat. Late

Irish Coffee

Things are still going well. 2 days of positive outcomes. Still no word from PT school...I love how I have so much riding on this. Not really looking forward to taking classes this summer and next semester if I do not get in. Whatever though. If I was meant to get in, I will get in. Played for about 3 hours last night. There are some hands I wanted to post, but this is the one that I think I misplayed the most out of all of them...

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2254832">http://www.pokerhand.org/?2254832">http://www.pokerhand.org/?2254832

Hindsight, I should have checked the river and called whatever he did. I was only beating AK/KT/AQ/JT. Dude was playing 19/16/3 and I had only really seen him 3-bet me with AQo. Although, I was isolating a 75/6/1 guy any chance I could, but I was still suprised he showed up with KJo. That did not fit his button calling range of my iso IMO, not at all. When I shoved, I was 90% sure that I was up against AK/AQ. That was only thie first or 2nd time that he had just cold called my iso. The AQo 3-bet of my iso came from the SB, and I gave him credit then. Fun times.

Hopefully today turns out to be the biggest day of my life...mail comes in an hour. Until then, optics, nanometers and irish coffee. Late

Back At It

Christ this feels good. About 60 hours in, 20k+ hands and Im running at 9.4 bb/100. That was in about 2 weeks...obviously playing a lot so I decided to take a day off and not turn on my computer. Nothing to do, so I headed down to Cherokee to play some blackjack. In about 3 hours, I was down about $320 and kicking myself for playing (I like to gamble). That was my new monitor that I was going to get, lost to a -EV game. The way I play is that I bet a predetermined amount and after I win 2 hands in a row, Ill double it, win 2 more and add another BB. Like that until I lose. So, basically, Im just playing the streaks. Well, It lands on heads 11 times in a row for me twice, and I ended up leaving (after 7 hours) up $115. Thats more then I make at the ABC store (read: social interaction) so I was fine with that. Vegas is only 2 more weeks away...mmmm vegas.

Getting things back on track...in all areas. Decided to take off a month of poker to finish my Physical Therapy program application. Its done now which is a huge load off. Guess it will be at least a month before we find out my plans for the next year. Everyone seems to think that i will get in, guess its the pessimistic inner self that I possess--although i have been working on improving that...
