[Pic Update]
Finally have a solid schedule!
Worked out an arrangement with a friend who runs an underground game. They run 7 days a week, Tuesday being the only NL day. Every other day they run a 10/20, 15/30 Limit game. They also have a $300 tournament every other Tuesday. 7K is guaranteed for 1st. So my arrangement? I get a percentage of the NL game on Tusdays in return for house/support playing in 3 other games in the city.
[Side note: Since I've been away from the city and since my ownership role in the underground poker scene ended, things have changed a lot here. The player pool is crippled. Games are not running like they used to when we were making money hand over fist. Games are sending house players to other games in return for their support to ensure that a table is ready to go at the start of a game night. So.. I'm gonna see a lot of support regs Tuesday through Friday. From what I saw last week, It shouldn't be a problem.] I also get half of my tournament buyins backed for a split my way. So, I'll be playing the tournament and 5/5 NL on Tuesdays at my buddy's club. Wednesday is another 5/5 game close by (checked it out last week, scooped!). Thursdays a different 5/5 NL (checked it out, scooped!). Friday a 2/5 game (that ran bigger than the 5/5, checked it out, scooped!).
So with the above mentioned live schedule, I have Saturday through Monday off. Depending on each week, I'll be heading to the casino on Saturday Nights to play 5/5, 5/10 NL. Saturday night plans will determine that I guess. I'll be MTT'ing on Sundays online. And Monday I'll probably relax, run errands, and do life stuff. I Live downtown and these games are about 30 mins away. I don't leave until 8pm or so. I'll be smashing SNG's during the day on a regular basis.
Underground games are something special. Worked on tweaking my game in order to adjust. I find that in almost all casino live games, aggression pays. Being active, having dynamic 3/4 betting ranges, and aggressively squeezing are all things that just demoralize live casino players and before they know it, they make tons of mistakes and usually end up spazzing out at the wrong time. So basically at a casino, I just apply...pressure, pressure, pressure.
Underground games, at least here, are different for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, there is the "sheet" (credit). Practically all games offer it and its actually essential for clubs to do so in order to survive. At a casino, 99.9% of players don't get markers and so whatever is in their pocket is what they can invest towards a session. Underground players, knowing that they can borrow an X amount of money, are looser, wilder, and generally more retarded than their casino counter parts. While a LP 3 bet at a casino is usually seen as a "big pair", at an underground game, it's seen as an opportunity to outflop and win a monster pot. Hence, cold calling 3 bets happens regularly. Obv less frequently with 4 bets but it does happen more that one would think. Overcalls happen almost every hand. 8Xing PF becomes standard 2 hours into the game. 20 - 40Xing PF happens every 3 rounds or so. 1 or 2 20X cold calls happen at the same rate. In other words, what I'm getting at is that "these mutherukkers just don't give a fukk!" So, 3 betting the aggro fish at the table can get you in a 5 way pot before you can look up. Tightening up ranges for most of your actions is absolutely neccessary. Pot control is also vital as pots end up inflating to absurd amounts, regularly. Also, you'll have to battle against a ton of river bluffs. It's only been a week and I've seen some ridiculous play already. I'll be constantly adjusting as I move forward. If last week is any indication, should be a great summer!
Away from the tables, I'm now living with another friend of mine who I have the house playing arrangment with. Also, Eskal's folks come in for a few visits each year and it just makes things easier on both of us with me living where I am now. I'll def miss waking up and seeing him on the couch in the living room in his tightie whities smoking a cigarette with a shit eating grin on his face. My new roomie is British and so he made me go to an English pub with him to watch Saturday's WC game. Six or seven of his friends (all British) came as well. I started feeling like an outcast! I asked the waitress if there was an American flag. I just felt like being that one guy in the pub who is cheering for the enemy. Anyway, she got me some chalk and paper and we made a flag! We were the only ones cheering for the US in the whole pub. You should have seen me celebrating when that goal trickled in. I lost my voice in 40 seconds! So sour that we couldn't score another one. All things considered, the draw was a huge victory for us! I'll def be watching a ton of WC action.
My fukking Lakers dropped game 5! It would be nice to have a mutherfukking bench. I hate the Celtics so much but they are just outplaying us on so many levels. I still think that we'll win the next two at home. Until then, I'm gonna keep the shit talking to a minimum. I can't face another 07/08 kind of disaster! FUCK!
Peace. 2.
