Live Poker Schedule, Back 2 the Underground, Goooooaaaaal!, FUCK!

Blog by : Mr2
0

[Pic Update]

Finally have a solid schedule!

Worked out an arrangement with a friend who runs an underground game. They run 7 days a week, Tuesday being the only NL day. Every other day they run a 10/20, 15/30 Limit game. They also have a $300 tournament every other Tuesday. 7K is guaranteed for 1st. So my arrangement? I get a percentage of the NL game on Tusdays in return for house/support playing in 3 other games in the city.

[Side note: Since I've been away from the city and since my ownership role in the underground poker scene ended, things have changed a lot here. The player pool is crippled. Games are not running like they used to when we were making money hand over fist. Games are sending house players to other games in return for their support to ensure that a table is ready to go at the start of a game night. So.. I'm gonna see a lot of support regs Tuesday through Friday. From what I saw last week, It shouldn't be a problem.]

I also get half of my tournament buyins backed for a split my way. So, I'll be playing the tournament and 5/5 NL on Tuesdays at my buddy's club. Wednesday is another 5/5 game close by (checked it out last week, scooped!). Thursdays a different 5/5 NL (checked it out, scooped!). Friday a 2/5 game (that ran bigger than the 5/5, checked it out, scooped!).

So with the above mentioned live schedule, I have Saturday through Monday off. Depending on each week, I'll be heading to the casino on Saturday Nights to play 5/5, 5/10 NL. Saturday night plans will determine that I guess. I'll be MTT'ing on Sundays online. And Monday I'll probably relax, run errands, and do life stuff. I Live downtown and these games are about 30 mins away. I don't leave until 8pm or so. I'll be smashing SNG's during the day on a regular basis.

Underground games are something special. Worked on tweaking my game in order to adjust. I find that in almost all casino live games, aggression pays. Being active, having dynamic 3/4 betting ranges, and aggressively squeezing are all things that just demoralize live casino players and before they know it, they make tons of mistakes and usually end up spazzing out at the wrong time. So basically at a casino, I just apply...pressure, pressure, pressure.

Underground games, at least here, are different for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, there is the "sheet" (credit). Practically all games offer it and its actually essential for clubs to do so in order to survive. At a casino, 99.9% of players don't get markers and so whatever is in their pocket is what they can invest towards a session. Underground players, knowing that they can borrow an X amount of money, are looser, wilder, and generally more retarded than their casino counter parts. While a LP 3 bet at a casino is usually seen as a "big pair", at an underground game, it's seen as an opportunity to outflop and win a monster pot. Hence, cold calling 3 bets happens regularly. Obv less frequently with 4 bets but it does happen more that one would think. Overcalls happen almost every hand. 8Xing PF becomes standard 2 hours into the game. 20 - 40Xing PF happens every 3 rounds or so. 1 or 2 20X cold calls happen at the same rate. In other words, what I'm getting at is that "these mutherukkers just don't give a fukk!" So, 3 betting the aggro fish at the table can get you in a 5 way pot before you can look up. Tightening up ranges for most of your actions is absolutely neccessary. Pot control is also vital as pots end up inflating to absurd amounts, regularly. Also, you'll have to battle against a ton of river bluffs. It's only been a week and I've seen some ridiculous play already. I'll be constantly adjusting as I move forward. If last week is any indication, should be a great summer!

Away from the tables, I'm now living with another friend of mine who I have the house playing arrangment with. Also, Eskal's folks come in for a few visits each year and it just makes things easier on both of us with me living where I am now. I'll def miss waking up and seeing him on the couch in the living room in his tightie whities smoking a cigarette with a shit eating grin on his face. My new roomie is British and so he made me go to an English pub with him to watch Saturday's WC game. Six or seven of his friends (all British) came as well. I started feeling like an outcast! I asked the waitress if there was an American flag. I just felt like being that one guy in the pub who is cheering for the enemy. Anyway, she got me some chalk and paper and we made a flag! We were the only ones cheering for the US in the whole pub. You should have seen me celebrating when that goal trickled in. I lost my voice in 40 seconds! So sour that we couldn't score another one. All things considered, the draw was a huge victory for us!
I'll def be watching a ton of WC action.

My fukking Lakers dropped game 5! It would be nice to have a mutherfukking bench. I hate the Celtics so much but they are just outplaying us on so many levels. I still think that we'll win the next two at home. Until then, I'm gonna keep the shit talking to a minimum. I can't face another 07/08 kind of disaster! FUCK!

Peace. 2.

If I was "LOST"...

Blog by : Mr2
0

So I've been watching "Lost". Everyone said its awesome and so I caved in and started watching it. My buddy Azim has seasons 1-3 on box set so I just finished it. Gotta watch the rest online. Ugh!

As I'm watching it, I keep thinking about what I would do if I was on that island. They make such bad decisions. If you really wanna get off the island, you gotta start getting rid of people cause they'd just be getting in the way. I would kill these people off first..

1. John Locke - Because he's fukkin nuts and thinks its his calling to protect the island. Fukkin cook! I woulda put two in his head by the end of day 2. I could kill a boar on my own anyway! I would have also tried to hunt polar bear (more dangerous but more meat!).

2. Michael and Claire - Because the kids angle would just be so distracting. I know this sounds heartless but shit, I gotta get off the island and they were both such liabilities.

3. Boone and his sister Shannon - He looked weird and she was completely useless!

4. Hugo - This would have been a tough decision. He's so lovable and funny. But, he would just eat way too much. As soon as I saw him eating the last of anything, I would have sent his big ass on his way.

5. Ana-Lucia - She would have been valuable exept for the fact that she was likely to have a kill off list like mine and I would NOT want to be on it. So.. I'd kill her before she eventually killed me. Fair enough right?

6. Jack! - I know, big suprise. Yes, he's a doctor and super valuable. But, he's too fukkin emotional. He always wants to do the right thing and trust me I'd be doing whatever the fukk I had to in order to survive and ultimately get off that cluster fukk of a place.

7. Sawyer - Because I'd want Kate for myself.

8. Kate - Because after I killed Sawyer, I would have realized that she is the ultimate liability. Sorry cutie, we all gotta go eventually.

I would seperate myself from the rest of the pack, only taking Sayid, Ecko, and Vicent the dog with me. First order of duty for the new crew would be to kill all the "others". That's as far as I am in my plan.

Just realized that my crew would consist of all dark skinned brothers and a dog. Hmmm...

PS: Still loosing my ass at all things poker related.... sigh.

Peace. 2.

BOTTLE Poppin' BUBBLE Poppin'

Blog by : Mr2

Took the weekend off to celebrate the Goodfella engagement. We def popped more than a few bottles. And... I slept on the floor once during all the fun. Don't ask. Made the switch from Glenlivet to Glenmorangie official this weekend too. That shit is too good! It was a great time. Went to his cousin Cin's house for a family get together and as always, it was a blast. I been recovering from eating all that food all day today. Those Italians like their food.

Here's my graph for the last 350ish sng's played at the end of last week. Def recognized that I had a few leaks during bubble time. I was hyper aggro and really needed to understand ICM better. Was getting it in a bit thin too often. It also didn't help that I ran like absolute Dog Shit during a 150 game stretch where I lost most 60/40's and almost every flip (seemed like it). Pretty fukkin sick. Small sample..i know i know..but it still sucked. Working on it. The last 50 are from today. Hopefully I can keep Mr.Greenline going upward this week.

My car is here now and I can finally start playing live cash games again. Tonight, I'm heading out to a friend's underground club in the city to play some 5/5NL. Really pumped to shoot live. I'll let you know how it went...

Peace.2.

The BEST...

Blog by : Mr2

So yesterday, I took Goodfella to see his jewelry guy. He was going to pick up "the ring". We walked into the guy's place and the ring was sitting right up front on display. I don't know much about engagement rings but this thing was straight BLING! We both just looked at each other like this..Surprised! In his head, he was probably thinking Money mouth! Anway, the ring is siiiiick.

I've known Goodfella for like 7 or 8 years and he's been a robot for much of it. He never really shows much emotion and is actually unhuman like (I don't mean that in a bad way..its what makes him a great poker player). In 8 years of living together, a business partnership, and a brother like friendship, I don't think we've ever had a heart to heart talk. Mainly because I bottle up all of my emotions and because I don't know if he actually has any. LOL. Yesterday for the hour or so after he saw the ring, I witnessed something that I never thought I would ever see. Goodfella was actually human for a bit. He was so excited and nervous at the same time. We talked about when, where, and how he was going to ask her. We talked about whether he was going to get down on one knee.. all that stuff. I was super excited for him. Apart from our close friendship, his girlfriend I consider a sister! I love her a ton. I adore her...she's the absolute best! On the way back from picking up the ring, we had a 1 minute conversation that will probably be our first and only heart to heart for the rest of our lives. I told him how he hit the jackpot of life and that he should never forget how amazing she is. It was quick. It was awkward. But most of all, it was necessary! He nodded with a smile.

Two hours after I dropped him off at home, they called me on Skype and broke the news officially! Also, they told me that I would be the best man. So there's a bit of a story behind that. About a year ago, I randomly had a thought one day. I knew that marriage time would be coming soon for them and I wondered if I would be best man. His brother Rob chose to have Goodfella and his younger brother Adam as ushers while his best friend was the best man. So..I figured I had a ton of outs to make best man. Also, I've been there for most of their adult relationship and when I really started thinking about it...I deserved it! LOL. So when they came to visit last year, on the way back from a tournament, I explained that I thought the job should be mine. For the last year, that mutherfukker has been keeping me in limbo about the whole thing. He kept saying he had a lot of stuff to consider and that I wasn't a shoe in. Honestly, I actually started believing it! I've basically lobbied for the last couple of months and have explained to his family and friends why the job should be mine. They all agreed. So, we're on the way back from picking up the ring, we're having a heart to heart, we're talking about ushers and brides mates. I'm just waiting for him to tell me I'm the best man. Not a ga'damn word! I guess you can't ask someone to be the best man until she says "yes".

Anyway, I'm super excited about being the best man at their wedding. I've been researching best man stuff for a while now and already have a general idea of how my speech will go. I have a year to plan. They've chosen to do a destination wedding towards August of 2011. Its gonna be amazing and I can't wait. Until then, I'll be doing my thing and planning one hell of a Bachelor party! Ship it..I'm gonna be the best "Best Man" ever...

Congrats to both of you.. not only do I love you, I like you to death!

Here are some picks of me and the future bride and groom...
