Back from the WSOP

Blog by : markt103

Grinded out 8 hours of 2/4 Stud for $490. 1029 hands at 11.91bb/100.

After seeing how hard everyone works at the WSOP, I'm no longer going to "work" 2 or 3 hours a day. I am really going to focus on improving my craft at all games and not try to coast by.

Taking a Break

Blog by : markt103

Well for the last 3 days I haven't touched .50/1 NL and focused on playing 2/4 7 Card Stud. For the 3 days i'm up $579 and running at 9.5ptBB. Its been a good break but I have to slowly reenter the NLHE game or else I'll forget most of the things I've learned. Going to concentrate on 4-6 tabling, no more 8 tabling and no more hero calls.

Tilting

Blog by : markt103

Went on Tilt yesterday and completely got destroyed. Looking at around 400 in losses. Went over the hand history and most of it was avoidable. Just too much aggro and trying to value bet against the river against opponents who would only raise if they made their hands.

Full Tilt $60

7th Street Theory

Blog by : markt103

Usually in 7 card stud you are pitted against one opponent post flop and it becomes obvious that it is a higher pair vs a lower pair. The higher pair bets until the river and either checks it on the river basically saying that I have one pair, or betting the river meaning I have made 2 pair or better. There are alot of aggressive players at 3/6 stud who will follow with a lower pair and if they make 2 pair at the end, will raise it up against a lone larger pair. I will run an test for the next week or so to see if it is +EV to check raise when I make my two pairs against super aggressive opponents and how long it takes them to check it at the river with two pair.

Bears Lose

Played 2 hours of 50 NL 4 tabling. Nothing major, only hit one set and lost half a stack with AK vs a set on the flop. Still had a BB/100 of close to 4 and made approximately $20. Played 1.5 hours of 3/6 Stud. Played very aggressively and created alot of large pots with limpers. 150 total hands BB/100 of 21.14 with a net positive of $190. Gong over the hand logs I made mistakes costing me $60. Most of which was on a hand I was playing tilted after losing a large pot to a rivered hand. i lost a $166 pot when someone hit a one outer to make a boat while i had a made flush with 2 limpers(one with a straight, other with what looked like a small flush). $120 pot when My 3 of a kind AAA was beaten by someone who called with one low pair and hit 2 pair on 6th and a boat on 7th. Interesting to note that I was involved with 7 of the 8 largest pots and won 4 of them. Sadly, at the end of the day, I only ended up around $10 on the table after being up by as much as $140.

Pokerstars $1974.

Full Tilt $12

Feeling Better

Blog by : markt103

Tried to make it without medicine today and played some focused poker. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Did decently well at 50 NL 4 tabling, + $60 with a 5bb/100 rate but could have been more. Played against alot of short stacks which i tried bluff's against that didn't work. Did extremely well at 3/6 stud hitting 25bb/100 and making $270 in a short amount of time (176 hands). Lost the last pot to a bluffer who hit a straight on the river or would have been $310 or so. Played around another 2 hours before bed, raised the amount won to $1310.

FullTilt still $-100

Sick as a Dog

I finished up jury duty and decided to play while sick, what a mistake! I lost 168 plus 100 more on full tilt on 3/6 stud and lost around 40 on pokerstars. Played almost 2 hours of 4 tabling 50 NL holdem before i felt the sickness come on again and decided to quit. Stats were 334 hands played, 17.96 VPIP, amount won $120, 36.15 BB/100. I did make a few mistakes not playing aggressively enough with AK preflop. I didn't reraise preflop which would have saved me over $15 dollars or so. Also, postflop, i shut down if i didn't hit an A or a K which is fine at 50 NL because they will call u down with mid pair or better anyways.

I played around an hour of 3/6 stud before going over to Michael's house to play with Joshua. Got bad beated 4 times in a row in the beginning but recovered with two major pots, one with a flush on the river and another leading all the way with trips and filling up. Overall won around 80, would have been closer to 160 if i would have won the last pot where i had four flushed all the way against 2 players, one with one pair, other with two on 6th.

Couldn't sleep

Blog by : markt103

I couldn't sleep before Jury Duty and decided to log on to play some Stud 3/6. I was hungry, uninterested, and chased like a mofo. Nothing good could have come of it and so I'm down on both Pokerstars and Full Tilt.

Pokerstars $668

Full Tilt $160

Luckily I realized this an hour after playing and stopped. If this happens again, I should play a 10 dollar sit and go or do something else like watch a video.
