Quick 500 hand sesh!

Blog by : markchantler
0

Had a quick 500 hand session netting me ~$600. Good result, even got my own back on a fish who took me for $300 in my $800 loss the other day. Anyways, good result as probs the last session before Vegas.

Screenshot:

No real big hands, biggest pots +/- were only 50 BBs, so not that interesting a session except pleased with myself that i used the reads i had on the fish from last session to good effect and played a much better game against him (also getting perfect turns and rivers doesn't hurt either).

After that session, I cashed out a cheeky $100 and so roll is at just shy of $9k.

On 16th (3 days) its Vegas Baby!! When I return, gonna go into full grind mode and try and get my roll off life support, who knows maybe i'll bink a slots jackpot for $10mil and you'll never hear from me again. Wish me luck!!

-4BIs yesterday! :(

Blog by : markchantler
0

Lost ~$800 yesterday over ~1,500 hands, running ~$500 below EV... not a huge blow or anything, just frustrating, as no matter what i did it just seemed like i could not win. This month, since i started my robusto mission, i am up $1,200 and my winrate is ~10bb/100 in HEM (5ptbb/100). The big wins and losses were all fairly standard and I'm way too hungover to be bothered to post them with analysis or post a screen shot.

Although this month i've run well at allin EV, i've run badly getting it in coolered/drawing dead and v badly at turning/rivering unfavourable cards, which I believe have attributed to my low winrate (5ptbb/100 at HU is pretty poor imo). I have to put some of the blame on myself though of course, as I have probably autopiloted a bit too much vs complete droolers and have just waited to pick up a big hand that i can just pot-pot-pot and win a chunk. I alos have problems wth tilt control, i don't start open shoving or anything when tilted, but i get very angry and start acting really quickly, which can't be good.

Anyways, my GF is coming round tomorrow and we're going to the Britains Got Talent Live Tour on Friday, actually pretty excited, although its obv mostly for me biatch. Unfortunately I probably won't get to play poker again before i go to Vegas on the 16th. Before then I'm gonna go through the sessions i played vs different players and different "types of fish" and try and plug some leaks, which i obviously have.

When I return my robusto mission will get back into full swing and i'll try and play a lot of hands in july. Rakeback being a beautiful thing, my roll has sustained this blow, staying over $8k. My plan is to keep playing droolers at 1-2 and to slowly encorporate playing better players, before moving up. All this is assuming i don't keep donking off moneys and I really hope deep down that i never have to return to playing below 1-2NL as i did earlier this year, but who knows

Won 3 BIs

Blog by : markchantler

Can't get the screen shots to work for some reason (anyone know how), but here's the link to a shot of my HEM stats for today:

http://img4.imageshack.us/my.php?image=july7.jpg

A few hand from today:

WINS:

I think my peel on the flop here to a min raise after i lead is compulsory against a non-folder like him, he also bets v small and gives me chances to draw if i turn a spade, but is a classic station. I obv get perfect turn and decide to just lead out 3/4 pot, as i dont think he'll bet again with a bare queen. The river is abs perfect for an over bet shove vs this player, i dont think any other option is nearly as good (a c/r would work too i guess), but if just incase he has AA/KK and wouldn't bet himself, but may come up with a reason to call an overbet:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4332963

Yeah, not mush to say about this one, i bet so big on the turn because 1. he's a complete station and 2. it sets it up for a riv shove. You'll see what i mean when u see what he had:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4332972

A LOSS:

As played (betting flop) I think I have to get in bare AA vs a good aggro player like vilain is, I'm flipping against his most likely hands and QQ/JJ he'd get in pre for sure and If he found out i was folding AA here he could exploit me all day long. Anyways i spoke to Ted_Maul6 about it (probs best mid stakes HU player thats ever lived, only joking, but not really) and CRAI on flop or C/C to see a safe turn are both much better lines for sure. I like CRAI on flop best, as i think this player fires on this flop near 100% of the time when checked to if he has nothing and when u CRAI he could convince himself to get it in with AQ/KQ no diamond thinking I've just got bare Ad. I need to mix in checking after 3B more into my game in general and have some c/f, c/c and c/r in there, i'm getting better at it slowly. Oh well, lesson learned:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4333091

I've run v good at all-in EV over the first 3 days of my challege, but as far as favourable turns/rivers go i think i've run pretty badly. I'm happy with the results so far winning ~$1,700 in the first 3 days of my busto2robusto mission, which is good, but have to remember that it's only 8 BIs and can go bye bye in 1 day.... hope it doesn't happen and would love to ship a $2k day just to set me off running, but life's not usually that perfect.

Another small win!

Blog by : markchantler
0

Won another $500 today over 1,400 hands.

Screenshot:

Don't think i played v well at all, i seemed to win when i got it in bad and lose when i got it in good? pokers a weird game!

I think my play on this hand is terrible, he obv has an ace and isnt folding and thus i ended up getting lots of money in badly:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4328673

If he had been a better player I'd give him credit for making a good call, but he's not. Took a break shortly after that hand.

Biggest win of the day:

Whenever I 3bet and checked he always potted the flop, so used this to my advantage... then i just shoved, cos he's never folding any pair or draw.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4328688

Biggest loss of the day:

Ermmm yeah, sucks to be me sometimes, but cooler for both obv.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4328702

Rake on ipoker is capped at $1 HU and is really killing me, i played one guy who bought in for $50 and by the time i beat him i won $16.... so if u sign up, make sure you get rakeback, getting 27% on ftp and 45% on ipoker makes a huge difference to pad out your roll if you play 1-2.

Didn't get to play as much as i wanted cos friends came over early and i'm going out in 30mins or so. Sorry, boring post!

Frustrating day, but a wins a win!!

Blog by : markchantler
0

So played a lot of HU today, went v bad at first and i was stuck $500-600 at peak low (only 3 BIs, but disheartening when starting a rebusto mission)... anyways when all was said and done i eneded up winning $550 over nearly 2,000 hands.

Screenshot:

I ran well at times, getting it in w. AK vs KK twice and winning both times, but getting hit and run 138 times in one day is super tilting.

Both these guys insta-quit right after:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4324990

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4324993

Also, I'm pretty sure over 2k hands I rate to win more than $550 vs the kinda players i was against, but I'm moaning way too much for someone who shipped 500 bucks dicking around on his computer. If anyone is really good at software development though, ftp need to develop electrified laptops and each player gets like 5 a day to inflict pain on there opponents, look into it!

Alright tomorrow is the weekend and gonna play all day till 3 ish then I'm out, so really hope i can ship a nice day.

Also got $100 RB today, cashed out $100, dicked around at 25c-50c PLO for a while, so roll at ~ $8k.

V Short Session +$300

Blog by : markchantler
0

Played 91 hands, had a fish for 2 BIs of $80, another fish for $100 and a reg for $40 before i quit him. Can't be arsed posting any hands cos all were pretty boring, obv ran like god to win $300 so quick, but no sick suckouts or anything.

Screen Shot:

Back home tomorrow so can get proper playing underway. My plan is to be a major bumhunter until my roll is padded out a lil, then play a few more regs to get my game in better shape before i hopefully get to move up, won't be for a while at best though as I would really like to be super confident and have a decend roll before playing higher, there's still some v good money in 1-2 HU.

As far as playing fish goes I'm still gonna try to not auto-pilot. Phil Glafond in one of his vids said that not noticing tendancies of fish is MORE of a mistake than not noticing tendancies in better players, as there mistakes are more extreme. Even though you can beat fish by just playing your standard ABC game, you're sacrificing more $$ by not paying attention when playing fish as there tendancies are more extreme than regs, where you can only gain a lil extra by noticing there tendancies.

Hollah back tomorrow, hopefully get to play a lot and maybe win a lil too.

Busto to Robusto mission underway!!

Blog by : markchantler
0

So i played only a little today and won a small amount $75, was cruising nicely and woulda won more if it werent for a few unlucky turns and rivers, oh well... a wins a win!

Here is my H.E.M. screenshot:

So, i "should" have won $200 extra, but w/e no biggy... here are a few hnads, none of which are all that interesting apart from my bet sizing i guess:

LOSSES:

Yeah, whatever... he can never turn a profit defending Q9s there 50BBs deep, but he's a fish:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4315260

Std for him on the flop after defending 78s, a float would be horrible, unfortunately he gets lucky on the riv :(
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4315263

WINS:

Here you'll notice I 4 bet HUGE... you can say it kinda looks like what it is, but he had flatted two 4 bets previous to this and then open shoved flop, so I wanted to get him to think he has to shove or just not be able to call the 4 bet oop and shove flop. Again he is a fish so balancing doesn't really matter:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4315280

One thing I do better than most I think is balancing my leading range from pure bluffs to nuts, depending on flop textures, game flow and the player I'm playing. Anyway this flop is good to lead cos I'm happy getting it in on the flop and its pretty difficult for him to miss completely and if he has missed its a scary board for a donk leader to get raised on, so he may do it as a bluff, anyways, perfect turn:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4315300

OK, so short session today, but it's cos I'm atv the girlfriens atm, so mainly doing stuff with her, nothing serious just bondage, roleplay, whips, chains the standard stuff! Mission busto2robusto will start properly the day after tomorrow when i return home.

Shout out to "eyedunno" first to post a comment on my new blogs (Teddy you don't count)

Back Blogging!

Blog by : markchantler
0

OK so haven't blogged in a year or so... In that year a lot has happened, I went travelling to Indonesia, Borneo, New Zealand, Fiji... I went on a ski season to Val D'Isere (France) and visited the holy grail of gambling, Blackpool (jokes) Las Vegas of course!!

As far as poker goes... it hasn't! I cashed out a large chunk of my roll to go travelling with and to enjoy my year out and when i returned went on a monumental DS, it was pretty sexy... I ran horrendously, but as these things usually go, it was largely my fault! I started out every session with a new mindset, but after a few bad beats and getting stuck 3-4 BI's tilt would insue and 3-4 would tun into 7-8.

When I first started my poker career, I ran v well for a week, turning $100 into $1,800... I then ran normally and lost all of it apart from $450. I thought I'd ran terribly, but really 99 wasn't the nuts preflop and apparantly 8 high flush draws didn't always get there!! I then read a book and practiced BR management, but still made it to 1-2NL v quickly and was stuck between 2-4 and 1-2... I would tear it up at 1-2, move to 2-4, play super suspiciously/badly, get crushed then move back to 1-2 and crush again... familiar story??

Anyway last time i started blogging i finally cracked 2-4, i was playing well ( i still have the DB in pokertracker as a momento), but of course ran like god... Before I knew it i was at 5-10 with $70k online, plus more in reserves and spending ridic amounts every week, sick time. Anyways; I went on a slight DS towards the final year of uni (no biggy 10-15 BIs) and decided quitting poker for 2 months while i revise was a good plan... it was cos i finally got a 1st in economics. After that I didnt take poker as seriously as before, cashed out a large chunk of my roll and moved back to 2-4 expecting to be back at 5-10 v soon, when it didn't happen i got frustrated and after every -5 BI day i'd cash out another 5 and spend it. No regrets!!

Long story short I quit poker for months at a time cos of travelling and general frustration and since my return around Xmas time have converted from 6max to HU ( i know, i know, only dead fish go with the flow) but seemed like a good idea and I have done prety weel, starting with $1k and playing 25c-50c, i am now playing 1-2NL and having cashed out a portion for Las Vegas (I'm going on 16th June btw, excited) + recent -$2k day, have ~$7k online atm.

I think keeping a blog and posting all my big winners/losers online helps me to focus and not do stupid stuff... if i'm honest, a large portion of my losses come from me doing something retarded, which i know is incorrect, but i convince myself that seeing as he COULD have missed FD here or 3 barrel bluff a call is best, when i know that 90% of the time its for value.

You lucky few, or one, or no people who watch this blog will get to see my ups and downs, meltdowns and explosions in this excitment filled blog spectacular; sponsored by Powergen.
