My Fall

I haven't posted a blog at all since I moved from 50nl to 100nl. At first the move was going great and I was up around 5 BI. The success was mostly coming from my six max games. But since most of my success at 50nl was at the HU tables I decided to try it out at 100nl. I ran bad and played bad at HU and ended up losing around ~8 BI, This put my bankroll down below 1700 and so I decided to move back to 50nl. I only ended up playing a little over 6000 hands at 100nl. most of which was break even, followed by a 5 BI upswing and then finally a 10 BI downswing. The reason for the big downswing was tilting over HU sessions which I played poorly

After moving down I wasn't feeling to great about my game and continued to tilt and ended up donking off another grand leaving me down to 25nl and playing with the bankroll I started with at $500. This was an extremely frustrating week. The whole time I was trying to get myself to break out and quit tilting but it just wasn't happening. Once I hit around 580 I decided to take close to a week off and just forget about poker for awhile.

Now that I'm back playing I am much more calm and thinking through my play a lot better. I am working on grinding out my bankroll again, the last couple days have been extremely profitable for 25nl. I'm up over 18 buy-ins over 3200 hands, I realize I won't be crushing the game for ~28 BB/100 for too long so I'm definatly enjoying it. The rollercoaster of poker is great aint it. Anyways my roll is about close enough to try and do some 50nl and so I think i'll sprinkle some in tomarrow. I'm also only 200 FPP's away from the $285 bonus on stars so that should give me some padding to take a proper shot at 50nl.

Well good luck at the tables and thanks for reading

Movin up

I moved up from .25/.5 to .5/.1 this week. I've put in around 3000 hands of 6max and 1000 hands of HU. I'm up ~1/2 a buy in in these hands which I dont really mind. I've made quite a few dumb mistakes and I believe if I can cut a few of these out of my game my profits will start heading upward. My bankroll is still hovering around the 2k mark and I plan on moving back down if it falls under 1700. I'm pretty excited about playing this week and wish I didn't have a real job but that's how it goes. Here are a couple hands from the new level.

This hand was basically pot odds. Once the third player called the flop RR I was getting the right odds and called. The river bet was a little closer but I decided to call anyway.

This is me being sticky with my sevens. I call to set mine and thats what I should do, fold w/o improvement. An inside straight draw should not be enough to stay but in the moment I couldn't say no. This is definatly a huge leak and should be folded on the flop if not pre.

Thanks for reading, GL

Good Start

So far Sept is going quite well. I'm up around 6 1/2 BI over 4 days and running at about 8 bb/100. I have recently started up playing 6max at 50nl but my play at these tables has been very sporatic and overall I think i'm a bit hyperaggressive. Over the same four days i'm about even at 6max. My winnings have all come from HU 50 NL. Here are a couple of hands from the three days.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?3149357

This hand I just decided to call in the sb and end up flopping an openended straight draw. I decide to lead to disguise my hand a bit and end up getting min raised then 4bet by the third opponent who limped pre. I decide that he probably has some kind of two pair hand because of his limp and I decide to call his raise since it is a rather small 4 bet. The button also calls and the turn is the best card in the deck. I decided to check raise the turn because I didn't think he would fold anything he was 4 betting the flop with at this point. Anyway they end up both calling and the nuts hold.

This hand I got stacked when I didn't need to. Especially when I played the first two streets so poorly. Anyways I raise from HJ and get called by the button. I flop two pair and lead into the button and I decide to just call. Looking back I think this was a terrible decision, The buttons RR was 3x and it seemed like he liked his hand so I should have just 4 bet there and tryed to get it in on the turn. But the way it played out I checked the turn, another mistake imo and he checked behind. Then the A hits the river and now I decide to value bet and get shoved on. I really need to be laying this down if i'm going to play this hand this way because I dont think he is shoving the river with less than 2pair. It may have been a crappy card but I definatly let him get there and payed him off while doing it.

I still have a lot to work on with my 6max game but I think I should be able to make the adjustments and start beating the 50NL tables soon enough. Hopefully I keep running well in HU so I can offset the learning curve in 6max.

Thanks for reading, GL at the tables

End of summer

The last couple of months have been quite interesting for me in online poker. Since moving back home to alaska I put $500 into pokerstars from my first paycheck to start my online bankroll. From then I was trying to grind out .1/.25 FR NLHE with not too much success. Then around early July I took down a 180 person SNG for ~600. which put my bankroll around 1200 at the time. It also allowed me to move up to the .25/.5 games.

I've been trying to work on tighting up my full ring game because even now I think i'm bluffing a bit more than I should. Actually i'm contemplating just moving to 6max because I think my style of poker is better suited for that game. But to get back on point I was grinding 50NL FR for the rest of july with little success, only managing to be up about a buy in over 10k hands.

Around early August I decided to start playing heads up 50NL. I usually play 4 full right 50 NL tables and one heads up table. The heads up has certainly helped out, my monthly winnings for august is at around $760 over ~25000 hands. This is a great improvement over July.

I am still going to work on my full ring game but am planning on starting to play some 6max also to see how that goes. With some hard work I think I can grind my bankroll up enough for 100NL by the end of sept. Thats all for now, I'll be trying to keep up my blog consistently this month.

First Blog

Alright, I'm a relatively new member to CR and have been watching videos and pretty regularly. I've been trying to get myself to post more in the forums and start a blog for some time now but I am just getting around to doing it. I've been playing internet poker for about 3 years now off and on. I had pretty great success when I started but haven't been living up to expectations lately.

Right now I'm in the process of building back my online bankroll which seems to be dwindling down to nothing over the past couple of months. Looking back on it , I can't even beleive how bad I was playing, one of those hindsight is 20/20 kind of things i guess. I'm now playing 5 dollar sit n' goes at full tilt. I've only played around 100 or so in the past week, but it seems like i'm doing pretty well at them, cashing around 50%. I've also peppered in some plo at the 10$ max tables. These are rediculously light and am kind of embarresed even playing them. But my bankroll is also embarrassing so I think I should just swallow my pride and grind it out.

My live poker game has been excellent in the past couple months. I've built my bankroll up to around 1100 and been regularly beating the 1/3 game around San Diego. I've always liked my game live better than online. It seems like I get less frustrated in live play, I take time to cool off and end up going on tilt much less. Anyway hopefully I continue on my hot streak at the live games because i'm going to L.A. for the weekend to visit college friends. I'm sure i'll play at the casinos plenty of times this trip.

Anyways my goals for this spring/ summer are to start improve on my online cash game. I want to be profficient at the .5/1 tables by the end of the summer. This will take a lot of work but it's something i believe I can accomplish. I would like to be playing 100 6max and 100 full ring NL, and some 50 plo by the end of summer. This would require a much bigger bankroll than i currently have but nothing too rediculous I think.

Currently I am also in the process of finding a new poker room. My full tilt account doesn't have rakeback and if I am going to be putting in the hours it takes to improve at online poker there isn't any reason I shouldn't have a rakeback account. I am leaning toward cake poker, one of my friends suggested it and said it was pretty soft, It also has a pretty nice rakeback. Of course I might just "teach" my sister how to play on full tilt. Who knows. Well anyway hope this blog wasn't too unreadable, thanks for reading, good luck at the tables.
