610,000 VPPS!

Blog by : marchinvest

Well I made i through the 1st day of my challenge easily. I am finding the 10,000 vpp's and 10 miles per day walking on treadmill to be a pretty easy thing to do on a daily basis as long as I budget my time efficiently I am done around 6pm outside of a couple of hours late at night.... Lately I have been on a really bad run of cards and maybe not playing my best poker in the world.... I anticipate that changing soon..... it always does... One thing that seperates me from other plays in the 1020 and 1530 games is that losing doesn't bother me and daily/weekly swings in the games don't bother me either. I really don't care how I do as long as I am putting in the number of hands that I know I need to put in to reach my goals. I have found it extremely benefical to have a specific goal for hands played on a daily basis through vpp points that I can't fudge or change. Anyway, I hope all is well and good luck!

3,000,000 VPP Goal! Well I am going to try and get to 3,000,000 VPP on Poker Stars by the end of the year. Right now I am sitting on exactly 600,000 vpp after the first three months, but I am going to increase my pace to 10,000/day which is actually very easy for me now. I will be updating on a daily basis with my total vpp's for the year.... I hope all is well and good luck!

California Trip and New Goals!

California Trip and New Goals!

Hi Guys,

I got back from my trip to Del Mar, California last Friday and the trip was great! We stayed at the L'Auberge in Del Mar for 4 days. We went to a lot of cool restaurants, shopping, etc. The hotel was very nice for a boutique type hotel. The restaurant in the hotel named Kitchen was extremely good and I would highly recommend it if you like fresh healthy food. My fiance and I are vegan and it is very difficult to find great restaurants that have plenty of healthy options.

We also tried out Market which was a little off the main strip in Del Mar, but it was also excellent food and great service....

We loved california so much that we are planning on making a week trip out to Laguna Beach next month and if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I was lookiing and I noticed a couple of hotels that look nice (montage, ritz, st. regis.) Please let me know if anyone is familiar what is the best in the area....

As far as business goes I am exploring another restaurant opportunity in Sioux Falls and should be heading down there in next couple of weeks. Hopefully, I will be able to develop multiple stores in the area if everything goes as planned.

As far as poker goes, it is going great! I have been playing more than ever and playing higher limits recently also..... Normally I have been focusing on 1020 and 1530 exclusively, but recently I have been playing 3060 and 50100. I'm planning on maybe trying to play just 15/30 and 30/60, with a couple of tables of 1020 if there aren't enough games running.

I really feel like the games are getting more difficult and I am having to play even more hands to generate the same amount of money, but I don't mind working hard and if that is what it takes, thats what I will do...

I am also considering adding back the 3060-100200 full ring games I used to play a lot to mix things up. I'm not sure if this is a great idea, but i'll try it out. I always like trying new things to see what works the best....

I feel bad b/c recently I have been joking around with players and some of them take it the wrong way...... I just like kidding around at the tables so I don't get bored with playing, so if I have pissed anybody off, I apologize....

Anyway, I'd really like to hear if anybody has any ideas for what games I should be playing online or any other ideas that might help improve my game.

I hope all is well and good luck!

Marchinvest2 Day 7 Results!

Blog by : marchinvest

Well I am done with the challenge! Its sunday night and I have to say it was a lot of fun!

Today I made 10,000 vpp's again, and walked 10 miles. Those seem to be easy numbers for me to achieve on a daily basis and I am excited about putting a whole month in with those numbers. I really feel good when I do that 3.5 hours on the treadmill while playing poker in the mornings.

As far as new challenges I'm not sure what i am going to do. I know this week I am going to only do 5,000 vpps/day and running 5 miles per day while i am in california.
Although that may sound like a lot for vacation, it seems like nothing to me....

Well I guess it is time for me to finally get some sleep.... I hope all is well and good luck!

Marchinvest2 Day 6 Results!

Well today went great! We had fun shopping and eating at a couple of nice restaurants throughout the day. IN addition, I walked 10 miles in the morning and through out the day I earned over 10,000 vpps. I think I am going to be slightly short on vpps and miles for the week, but only off by about 5% from my goal. At this point I think that 10,000 vpps is a pretty good daily goal , along with 10 miles on the treadmill per day. Considering how much sitting i do in my office I think it is very healthy and neccessary to walk or run that much daily. My last day of the challenge is tomorrow and I will also be releasing the goals for myself for the upcoming week. They are going to be more detailed when it comes to exercise and diet and slightly less strict when it comes to amount of poker to be played. I"m not sure if I have mention that I own some fast food restaurants, but currently I am exploring another restaurant opportunity in Sioux Falls. I will be making a couple of trips down there over the next couple of weeks so hopefully I can have a deal together before May 1st. In addition, I recently joined a country club in my area and this year I am finally going to get serious about the game of golf. In the past I have went in spurts, but now that I joined a club, I feel committed to getting good at the game, b/c if i don't make any use of the club it will be a huge waste of money and time. Anyway, I hope all is well and good luck!

Day 5 I failed on my challenge. I only got 8,000 vpps and didn't run or walk period. I spent a long period of time with my accountants which took a lot of time out of the day, and also spent a lot of time watching the games. My team Wisconsin Badgers had a great game and it was fun to watch! I hope to make a decent showing today and tomorrow on the tables before I head out to california... I hope all is well and good luck!

Marchinvest2 Day 3 Results!

Today I didn't do quite as much as I had planned. I have some stuff going on tomorrow with the ncaa tourney so it will be difficult to stay on pace, but i will try. Today I only walked for 5.6 miles and only got 10,250 vpp's. I would have liked higher numbers in both areas with the weekend approaching. So far over the first three days of the 7 day challenge I have got 32,250 vpps (75,000 goal) 19.6 miles walked/ran (50 mile goal) Tomorrow i'm not sure how much poker i will be able to get in, but I would like to get a 9 miles in for sure... we will see how it goes. I may attempt to increase the number of tables beyond 6 we will see how that works, in the past i haven't been able to make it work very well. I hope all is well and look forward to seeing you at the tables....

Marchinvest2 Day 2 Results!

Today I had a great day.. I walked 8 miles in the morning and during the day earned 12,000 vpp's. So far I have eared 22,000 vpp's and walked 14 miles. I am on pace and it shouldn't be a problem to get this challenge done before Monday morning..... One thing is that I would like to play in poker tourney during march madness which would make it extremely difficult for me to earn at least 10k vpp's on thursday but we will see.... On Monday I am flying to Del Mar, California for the week to celebrate my 30th Birthday. Anyone familar with the area know any cool restauants or things we should do while we are there? Also, I really appreciate the support I have been getting on the tables. Although this is a weird request, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share any of leaks in my game that they have noticed that I could improve? I realize some people won't be interested in doing this, I just thought I would throw that out there.. I hope all is well and good luck!
