doesn't feel like its been two months since my last blog. i wish i could have a cts-like excuse but i dont. pure laziness and lack of motivation.

as you could tell from my frustrated may blog entry, may sucked. i cruised through 25NL in march and 50NL in april and ran my roll up to $2000 by mid may without any real issues. i took my slightly-short (20 buy-in) roll for 100NL and took a shot and ran/played crap. i took it easy from poker end of may and first week of june as my roll shrunk back down to my original $500. i didnt want to make the excuse that i ran bad so i took those few weeks easy to restudy and reevaluate the way i was playing.

i didn't notice anything major with my numbers but as i digging deeper i realized two things; i was playing AK too fast preflop and was playing too many big pots with marginal hands (tptk, two pair, etc.). i decided to play AK slower pf, cbet slightly less depending on the board and play a bit slower on the whole. i also decided to skip 25NL and go with 10 buy-ins at 50NL. OOH..and i decided to go from 8 tabling to 4 tabling with the intention of really putting a lot more thought into each hand i played.

haven't played as much as i would like since mid june as i went to cancun and then had my sister and her husband/kids visiting for 3 weeks at the end of june but its nice to finally be back to the way it was. ive got only about 5k hands in averaging like 8 hours a week but my roll's back up over 1k at about 11ptbb/100. i've been in very few large pots compared to previous and i think the more gradual uptick is helping control my mood swings as well. i'll post a graph later when i get home from work. later

i need some input

ok i'm really not a proponent of online poker is rigged but SERIOUSLY, do any of you guys find that you run a lot worse in aipf or all-in on the flop situations where you're a huge favorite (i mean like 80/20 or greater) on fulltilt compared to stars?

its been a rough 2 week downswing and i find that on fulltlit i run way worse than on stars. like today, i only played for an hour and lost 3 times in a row eithee aipf or on the flop as a 95% favorite each time. all three times top or middle set to a runner runner boat/flush. once the guy only had middle pair, the other the guy had nothing but a backdoor flush and a gutshot and the last he rebluffed 4bet me with air.

this is kinda bad for just playing one hour today but shit like this happens more on fulltlit than stars and i want to know if anyone else experiences the same? does anyone feel it's the other way around?

i'm seriously considering withdrawing all my money off tilt and consolidating my bankroll all onto stars. screw rakeback.

one month

ok...so it's been a month. my bb/100 is down quite a bit but thats in part due to my test of a LAG style from 4k-6k hands and the fact that i ran hot my first 3k hands. obvoiusly i suck at LAG so i went back to TAG and the rest of the month went well. also, the last few thousand hands i went from 4-5 tables to 6 tables and things have been about the same in terms of comfort level. i might have dropped a bit in BB/100 but hopefully the 50% increase in hands will offset that. we'll see this coming month. i'm at 25bi for 50nl now and ready to move up but i'm going to grind out another couple hundred dollars to withdraw for some income and then move up.

keeping my fingers crossed. hopefully move up in a week or two weeks max.

fresh start

Blog by : lawrencehahn

well this is my first blog here on CR. i really have no idea if even one person will read this but it's mostly for myself so here it goes!

a quick bit about me. i'm a middle-20s-aged guy living in vancouver, canada. graduated from UBC in 2005 and have been working as a pharmacist ever since. got my start in the typical home games with friends after the '03 wsop/WPT era and tried my hand at the local 200NL and 1000NL with moderate success. last summer my condo completed so i had to dump my BR into my house and for the most part stopped going to the cardrooms here. took two shots in late 07 on FTilt and got it up to about 2k each time but monkey tilt and playing over my BR made me go busto each time.

so here it goes. a fresh start. some strict rules to play by and hopefully lots of discipline!! going to start with $500, grind 25NL and work my way up. my first goals are to try and get in 4k hands per week (kinda hard considering i work 50+ hours a week plus the usual fam/friends) and hit $1200 in three months so i can move up to 50NL.

it's been exactly one week since my deposit and here are my results so far.

been running well and also been happy that i haven't tilted even when getting it in 95%/5% preflop and losing fairly deep. kinda ran through a 1000 hands midweek where i got KK's cracked a few times in a row. anyway, thats it for now.
