i've been walking on air since last week. big scores are such a dream for the mtter in me! i made it to the final 3 tables in the rush PLO mini FTOPS but couldn't finish big. then saturday night i played a 5pm six-max (not my strength) rush turbo that had 1k people and ended up winning the whole thing for 5k. not sure i've ever won two big mtts in one week before. i had to rush out right after cause i had 8:45 reservations at peter luger's with some friends. yeah, that's a brag. :)

alex posted an interview w/ me on the homepage, which was pretty neat. one of the things he asked me about was splurging, and i changed my mind a bit. i confirmed a reservation w/ friends at per se for december 18th and bought a new desk set up, which has been a long time coming. i have really bad neck/back pain and even though a memory foam is on its way thanks to the CR forums i decided now was a good time to improve my set up. brag: two 30" dells are on their way, along with a "gamer" desktop. beat: they won't ship till second week of october.

going camping tonight for the first time since 2002 and i'm a little scared. i hate bugs and am not a big outdoorsy type, so it should be interesting. my sole "camping" experience consisted of sleeping in a tent and going to see lots of bands, so this one will be a little different.

bah, was meaning to type up an ac trip report but i don't have enough time. shout out to jack from my table who proudly wore a CR patch and talked up truly free to a few randoms. :) also, note to self: when old dude raises 5x utg HE HAS A HAND.

it's been a crazy couple of days poker-wise. i busted 5th in the mini ftops $109 about an hour ago. hard to complain about 18k, which i was bragging about yesterday, but i was really playing for the 79k first prize. i busted four bet shoving 33 < ATo v. a really aggro villain.:( i won lots of flips to get there, but it still stings. 6.9m flip at 50k/100k, such a terrible time to lose! tournament lasted 11 hours total with 4,011 runners. heading to bed realizing that two days final tabling tournaments over 3700 players is a pretty cool achievement. i saved some hands and will post those soon, curious for thoughts.

i had grand plans to type up a tourney recap and AC trip report from this past weekend, but i'm pressed for time and having a prob w/ the hh converter so i'll just post a short brag for now. i won my biggest tournament ever last night, the 42k on ftp, for 18k and change. kinda nuts cause i was supposed to play the ladies event at the borgata but i started looking at the wcoop and mini ftops sched sat night and decided playing online and watching football at home would be more fun. good decision. :)

at one point in the night i was on spastic monkey tilt b/c i was getting crushed in everything, including the 42k (KK < JJ) but i calmed down (thanks kevin!) and was two-tabling the wcoop two day and the 42k. then i got lol slowrolled in the wcoop by AA who time banked down before beating my AKo. karma is a bitch sashkoman. somehow i didn't let that bother me and was able to play the rest of it tilt-free.

i ran ok, including misclick calling off 22 bbs w/ JThh w/ a 30 bb stack and sucking out a flush on the river v. AK, and another misclick where i min bet the flop and then somehow took the pot down on the river after three barreling. i think i prob just confused the hell out of my crazy aggro euro table. biggest suckout was four bet shoving JTcc into JJ at the final table, and then flushing him on the turn. after that i just ran the table into oblivion. having a stack at a final table is so fun. overall it was a good time, i forgot how much fun poker can be when you win almost every flip!

it's ridiculous how excited i am for this thursday night. i'm doing six fantasy leagues this year: 1 14 team and 1 12 team CR league, 2 ten team leagues with different poker forums, a 14 team 2 qb league w/ a bunch of jersey friends and i'm splitting a team with my fiance in an auction league matros put together. the most expensive is $300 and cheapest is $10, so there's a nice range of buy ins, and most are enough to make it exciting. last year kevin and i split three nffc teams with a couple other friends and did a live draft in nyc, but we decided to bow out this year. i could see making the jump back next year, but six leagues is good for this year.

draft #6 - hasn't happened yet. this league is PPR with 2 QB, 3 WR and 2 RB. the scoring is insane and you get bonuses for QBS who have 300+ and 400+ yard games, and RBs over 100 yards & 200 yards. i have the number two pick and am in a quandary over how to proceed.

poker hasn't been going particularly well. i find myself building up big stacks only to spew chips, or making mistakes as i say to myself, this is a mistake. i'm not concentrating well enough while playing. i'll try to play as many mini ftops as my schedule will allow, and maybe that will help get me back on track. i haven't been able to play in many of the events of the last two series ftp ran, but i have to think the fields are fantastic.

well the poker gods smiled on me after my mini, unintentional poker break. i started off my night donking around in $2 and $5 stts. this one guy at $2 told me i was the worst player he'd ever seen, and then tried to engage me in a debate about 9/11. he kept bashing "yanks" and acting like he was god's gift to poker. three barreling him w/ 62o unimproved may not have been the best play but it was worth it to see his reaction. i only quit him cause hard knocks started.

played the $6 super turbo and busted about 30 spots short of money, but ran really well in the rush super turbo and took 3rd for ~ $700. sucked out for a super sweet pot on the ft bubble when i raised TT utg and both the sb and bb shoved. was hoping i was flipping v. both, but no, one had AJ, the other JJ, but i binked a T on the flop and took down a huge pot. i was never folding, too much money in middle, don't think either had more than 20 bbs and i had both covered, just nice to run good sometimes.

maintained my big stack and was up to 80 bb0 at one point but lost a 60 bb pot w/ AK v. JJ when i flopped a K and he turned a J. boooooo. the table was playing fairly tight except for the guy who won the flip v. me, who kept open overshoving 50 bbs, even though he barely covered the guy to his left. three handed i called the button shove from bb w/ A8. he had A5 but hit a wheel on the turn. two hands later i shoved T6cc from button, which was prob bad since i looked like i was tilting, and lost to his A7. bummed to finish anything other than first, but yay for some moneys!

i swear i think about blogging about once a day, but all of a sudden i'm shutting down my computer and heading to bed without writing a post. with twitter and facebook so prevalent and easy, blogging in general seems to be taking a backseat. why write 1k words when i can write short sweet bursts of 140 characters? :)

my dad joined fb this week, which freaks me out a little. he's prob got more info on his page than i do on mine, like bands he likes and websites, etc. i never really filled that part of my fb out, cause it would have taken me hours and i figured i already did it once with myspace. i go in waves on fb, sometimes i'll post a lot and sometimes i'll go a week.

LOL. as i was typing this out my dad called, to ask me the last time i talked to my fiance. he had just seen something kevin posted on fb and thought it warranted a phone call!?! cute yet scary. i think my mom is probably gonna join by the end of the year, that is when pigs start flying and hell freezes over.

a friend just called me and i realized that i almost never talk on the phone anymore. i thought it was cause i moved to jersey and got all domesticated, but after talking to her (small sample size i realize) it seems that talking on the phone is going the way of the vcr. most of my phone calls these days involve customer support or doctor's offices.

speaking of incompetent customer support, i spent most of this weekend dealing w/ comcast and unsuccessfully trying to solve internet connection problems. they sent someone out on monday and that finally fixed things, but i went all weekend w/o internet, and as of today it's been 6 days since i played the pokers. prob the longest i've gone in months if not years. it was also weird to be out of forum/im land for so long. i may fire up some super turbos tonight but then it's HARD KNOCKS.

football backstory: grew up with lots of giants fan and learned to hate the eagles. i generally rooted against the eagles without having any real allegiance. a few years ago i watched tons of nfl games w/ some friends who were giants fans, and adopted the giants back as my team. that same year another group of friends had an open spot in their ff team so i joined thinking it would be fun. i had no clue what i was doing, but learned a lot about football from the draft and through the season.

then i started dating my fiance who is a huge jets fan, so i basically switched ny teams, and now support the green. plus i love green, so why not make it easy (blue and red is such a horrific looking combo imo). not sure if i'd enjoy hard knocks if it was another team, cause i've never seen any of the previous episodes, but I'M LOVING IT. granted, by the time kev replayed cromartie naming all of this three years olds (WTF) for the fifth time i'd had enough, and i don't need to watch every episode seven times like he does, but i'm pumped for each installment.

today is a super sad day, b/c it marks the day i start reading a feast of crows, the last in the george r.r. martin fantasy series song of ice and fire. i have never been a big sci fi fan, but i read harry potter and then lord of the rings before the movies came out, and realized that i do kind of dig that sorcery, kings, etc. stuff. daut recommended game of thrones to me last summer and i started it but it was just too much for me to get into and i didn't have the time to read it. i started it again a few weeks ago and have been DEVOURING the books. now i'm all bummed b/c i just can't figure out how it's all going to wrap up in only 1k pages. a friend told me that hbo is making a series out of it, which should be interesting. i'm so impressed at how martin keeps all the characters/stories straight, and how impressive his narrative voices are. i also love all the wit, esp w/ tyrion and the tyrell grandmother (blanking on her name right now).
