Update

I've had a weird few sessions and at the end of the it all, I'm up $100 :)

According to Cake, I've only played 17k hands this month. It's pretty low, but considering my play and how I ran, I'm glad I haven't played more.

Also, I want to give props to my CR buddies, dymakel, cmorecrds, and bazuko. They're doing very well this month and I want to congratulate them before they post their month results :) I hope I can follow suit. I haven't really put in the effort to improve my game this year as I've been focusing on other things (maybe too many things), but hopefully I can change that very soon.

50 min session

Blog by : lambo

I played 4 tables from 50nl to 200nl last night and managed to win a bit over $100. There werent' very many tables running at all last night.

This may seem like a weird plan, but I think what I'm going to do is try to grind my roll up to 10k, then move 4k over onto Stars. Then take 2-3k for myself and leave the rest on Cake. It just kinda sucks that I can't really play as many tables as I want and I can definitely do that on Stars. And plus, I think it'd be nice to use HUD again. Hopefully this won't take me too long.

I'm very excited that the Raptor's got O'neal in a blockbuster deal. I'm just drooling at the idea of Chris Bosh playing alongside JO and Calderon. Add in a few more role players and I think we're serious contenders in the East. If only the Leafs could be so promising.

Decided to play last night

Blog by : lambo

I played for a bit over 2hrs last night and won a bit over $900. I obviously ran very hot, but I think i was due for a big session. Almost all hands where I was a clear favourite held and lots of my draws hit. I looked over my rakeback logs over this past month and I realized that on days where I played the most, I also lost the most. I'm obviously not quitting when I know I should be. This causes me to spew a few more BIs, further dragging down my downswings. I do recognize when I know it's going to be a long day and I always hope to just play until I'm only down 1-2 BIs. And I just never manage to stop when I get to that point. If I do this from now on, my winnings would be much much greater.

I've only logged in about 10k hands this month. Including rakeback, I'm up about $800. I need to put in my hands this month. Another thing to note to myself is that I can't play everyday. Playing everyday with a full time job means I'm playing a lot of days where I'm dead tired. Definitely not +EV. Ah well, lesson learned. Hopefully I can finish the month off strongly.

It's been a long time

I haven't played in a very long time and the funny thing is, I don't even feel like it. I think that I've had so much going on lately that my mind has just been taken away from poker. I did log on last night just to watch some action and there were barely any tables running. I've been thinking about moving some money back onto Stars, simply because there's a lot of games running regardless of the time of day.

I won't get a chance to play for the next 3 days at least, so hopefully I won't be too rusty when I play again.

I wonder ...

Blog by : lambo

....what it's like to run normally for once? It must be nice. The outdraws continue and my overs keep getting trumped by other overs. AA and KK outflopped by sets, and flush draws hitting everytime I get shoved on....good times. It's seriously getting old and I'm tired of it. It's happening way too often. I played for about 2.5 hrs today and lost a bit over $800. 3 tables were at 200nl and 6 were at 100nl. I started the first two hands of the session by getting stacked from both. I never managed to make it back afterwards. I've started about 90% of my sesssions the past 40 days down a couple BIs and the rest of the time, I'm fighting back. Seriously, it's getting old. I really do miss having my hands hold up when they're "supposed to" and when they actually do, I get so surprised. I almost expect to get outdrawn every time. When I see a flush draw out there, I automatically click to reload the chips because I'm expecting to lose. Just pathetic. I wonder if it's the cake software or there's just so many bad players that I'm more prone to some gross suckouts. Either way, if it continues, I'm getting off of Cake and I'll find something else.

Last session of the week.

Blog by : lambo

I played for about 1.5hrs last night and won $260. About $150 of it came from a 200nl game and the rest from 100nl. I dicked around the 50nl games for a bit and probably won $20 or so. At the 50nl tables, you definitely need to play based on the strength of your hand. And it's sometimes hard to adjust to that when you're playing the 200nl games. When people play back on you at 50nl, for the most part, you're beat.

I'm starting to cbet less especially out of position and I'm also changing the way I play the turn. I think people are slowly adjusting to how I play those 2 streets, so it was time for a readjustment. It's working out for now, so I think I'll keep playing this way. And I guess once I feel some more resisitence, I'll change it up again. There are times where straight abc poker is needed to win, especially against donks. But against regulars, you just need to change it up a bit. Not often though; only enough to keep them guessing.

I think I'm done playing for the week. I've got a massive list of errands to run and I really don't want to work them around my poker playing. Instead, I'll just cut it out this weekend and make sure I get done what needs to be done.

Quick session

Blog by : lambo

I played for about 20 mins today and won $270. I picked up a bunch of big hands and I didn't lose any of them which is always nice. After that, the software just froze and that was that. I thought about rebooting and playing some more, but I'm going to watch the rest of the Lakers/Celtics game instead. So I guess aside from rakeback, I'm dead even so far this month.

I've got a lot of wedding things to take care of and work is getting really busy, so I might not have much time to play. I'll definitely update when I do.

I ran into a lot of people I haven't seen in a while the past week and they all have something in common. They all hate their jobs and they're all trying to switch into a different field. I actually find this troublesome because a lot of my friends aren't as happy as they should be. I've thought about switching fields myself and I still do. But I'm slowly realizing that I should stop whining, get really good at what I do, and that's that. Because it's very likely that I'll feel the same way once I change fields. I guess it's really true that the grass is always greener. I'm glad I dabble into a lot of different things and it's what keeps me sane and happy. Maybe variety is really the key ... too bad I can't say it's the same for women since I"m getting married in 3 months :)

SIgh...more Cake

Blog by : lambo

I've been having some conversations with a former coach of mine and he reminded me today that I really can't blame the site for 2-outering me on a frequent basis. Instead, I should be more responsible for my actions and results. And that really, all sites (especially at SSNL) are generally the same and you ideally want to have money on more than one site.

I played another session today. I was up around $200 about an hour into my session until the usual Cake hex was put on me and I got outdrawn left, right, and center to the most unbelievable hands. But I'm not going to get into the details of those hands. Ok, maybe just one. Apparently, AA < 32s AIPF. I ended the day down $100. Sigh.

First session in about a week

Blog by : lambo

Edit:

Just went on a 7BI downswing. The runner/runners were insane, so I think it's safe to say that I'm getting the fuck off of Cake. Here's an awesome hand. I have A9, raise on the button. Flop comes A9xr. I bet, he shoves, turn 7, river 7. He turns A7. Every time I had AA today, I got cracked by a flopped set. Flush draws were more than plenty and they all hit. I'm definitely done there, so now it's about how to get my money off of there.

The other problem I had today was that all 8 tables disappeared twice on me. I lost a few pots and lost of few posted blinds b/c I couldn't see shit. Their software is so shit.

-------------------------------------------

Original.

I managed to make a bit over $400 today, but that was after I was stuck $300 very very quickly. Cake is funny sometimes. I had KK and villain had JTo on a J43dd flop. We both get it in on the flop and with runner runner diamonds, he makes his flush and called me an idiot. Also, flush draws and OESDs are still the nuts against me. I cannot never hold up when I'm the favourite on the flop here. SIgh. I've started out my past 5 sessions or so on a 3-4 BI downswing before making a comeback and it's really getting boring. I am getting the money in while I'm good for the majority of the time, so I just need to start running a little better to make a lot more money.

Hopefully I can play some more today.

Thanks for reading.
