The Pros don't lie!

Blog by : kiwikola
0

Just played a sesssion. Pros always say that the weekend is the best time to play. With that said, the games were uber easy/juicy tonight. I usually never stay in so it was a pleasent surprise to see how many mistakes were being made all over the tables. Definitely beats grinidng on a Wednesday Afternoon. I was rarely put to a tough decision while 4 tabling 50NL FR Rush on FT. Finshed up just over 4 BIs just over 3 hrs.

I am starting to wonder why I'm playing poker. Money can't be the only motivation, otherwise this infatuation with the game will definitely not last. Money is great but I NEED something more.

How about competition? I rarely play tourneys which is usually the staple for competing in poker. Maybe I am being sapped from the effects of playing FR, and am losing focus.

Although I want to keep playing, I can see I am starting to lose control of my eyelids. I hate myself for not having the motivation/stamina to keep playing. As I sit in my desk, I can picture myself tossing and turning in bed, while thinking to myself that someone else is making money that should be mine. On the bright side, it's only the beginning of the weekend. :)

Raptors suck, and Leafs are 6 points behind a playoff spot. Big game tomorrow vs. the Pens. Wow, the city will go ape shit if the leafs make the playoffs. one TIME!

Friday Night

Blog by : kiwikola

Sipping on my venti Pike watching my roomates battle it out in NHL 11 on xbox. The score is 2-0 after the first intermission. (Edit: 2-1 to begin the second). I've probably played more than 100 hours of this video game and am slowly starting to get bored of it. Another game is needed; COD? NBA Jam?... Im not too sure, What do you guys recommend?

I SHOULD be playing poker right now. THe games are usually easy with the amount of recreational players that deposit to have a good time. Yet, I am completely unmotivated. However, the night is still early, and NL50 RUSH is always juicy, especially as this time.

Dueces.

Thoughts on the Carmelo Trade / State of the NBA

Blog by : kiwikola
0

hello fellow grinders,

First off, I want to state that I have decided that from now on, my blog will consist of the bear minimum in matters that are poker-related. Through my own dealings, I have become somewhat of a narcissist when it comes to reading the blogs of other players. Whether it is developing a jealous envy for a player on a major upswing, or taking pride in another's sudden doomswitch, the mindset I have developed for my fellow man is not healthy. Although I do play poker a lot, it is definitely far from the centre of my universe, therefore why would it dominate my blog??

With that said, onto the main topic of today (this morning)

Around midnight of eastern time, Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets was finally traded to the teamof his desire, the New York Knicks. Looking at the trade from each side, I can without a doubt state that the Knicks were by far the biggest winner of the trade. Any time you get the best player in the trade, you are more often than not, declared the victor. However, once you add in the fact that Melo is only 26 years old, and is going to a system and coach that favour offense, and is easily a top 20 player in the league, most analysts would call this trade robbery. On top of that, with Melo and Amar'e now paired together in a strong market such as New York, the ability to attract even more talent to the fold (a la Deron Williams, Chris Paul) becomes that much easier. From the Denver Nuggets' persepective, this had to be done. Although trading a player such as Melo often comes back to hurt you in the long run, there was no chance he would have signed that three year extension they were offering him, which leads to my next topic

STATE OF THE NBA

As a fan speaking to another fan, do you like where the NBA is headed? It seems the days of each individual team having their own "superstar" are long gone. Whether its the Lakers, the Celtics or more recently, the Heat, Bulls and even the Magic, the league that I loved has become completely lopsided in the upper echelon of the league. I do not doubt that barring a labour strike, another superstar will join Carmelo and Amar'e in New York in the near future. So I ask, who do we blame for this? Do we blame the Lakers and Celtics for creatively putting together star-studded teams and basically forcing other superstars to align themselves in order to have a fighting chance? Or do we blame the players for lacking loyalty and having too much power over the league? How about the general managers? the owners? the commisioner?

That's all, btw poker was good/fun today.

life and times of booby miles

Blog by : kiwikola

so things have been going well... Up around 48 buyins which is great... I'm definitely not complaining... but compared to last month, I'm waaayyy behind on expectations. I talked to a couple of the biggest winners at .5/1 and they definitely gave me some wisdom of advice, which definitely helped me a lot. Well I got six days left in August, so I'll try to just kill it, murder everyone on FT who I am playing against, and just destroy ppl. I want to clean out some of the biggest fish on .5/1, so unless you are my mom or my girlfriend, I am coming after your motherfucken bankroll..

So before I get back to school I want to grab a few things...

[ ] two 22" monitors (preferably samsung)

[ ] a new lounge chair

[ ] new chair for the desk

I already grabbed xbox 360 so im pretty stoked to start playing it. Im going to grab NHL 09 when it finally comes out (canadians play NHL instead of MADDEN)... lol

Anyway, I started thinking about a few things today....

- I'm going to start pimping out my DVD collection... I bought a shitload of DVDs this year, and there are only a select few I have watched more then twice.. So to start the day right, I bought "Gone in 60 Seconds" a couple of days ago... FUCKEN SICK MOVIE.... so more of those movies and less of "Shoot em' up"..

I'm going to start pimpin up my wardrobe. I have more than enough tees and jeans.... so from now on, just high end clothes... time to start acting like a grown up right.....

Well that's all I got to say now...

Adios!!!!!!!!

I'll leave you with a litte comedy...

Hello folks'

Blog by : kiwikola

Hey everyone,

So the last few days have been up and down and all around. I have never been on a rollercoaster like this before. Winning buy-ins and losing buy-ins at an alarming rate. I took some time studying the game, reading a few articles and asking advice from a couple of cardrunners (ty u2). Anyway, I'm starting to adjust my game, since I feel like i'm getting attacked for no apparent reason. ` I'm still up on the month, maybe not as much as I should be since I played a few FTOPs, but they were worth it, getting experience and creating the possibility of having that big score.

I'll have an update after my night session, take care.

I'm gone..

Rough dat at the office...

Blog by : kiwikola

so Poker has been rough lately

Today fired up a sess and lost 5 buyins in about a hour. Unreal I know, even if I'm multitabling. Getting roughed up, getting played back at for no apparent reason. Had some clown re-raise me from the SB from my button raise with 54s and caught a st8 when I turned a set... So just shit like that... But like what can u do right.... I'm going to go to work, adjust my game a bit, I'm not really worried about anyone else at this limit... there's definitely a lot of good/great/decent regs (ie. readredhole, u2killers, byosti, loosezepher, etc.) but no one that I would avoid sitting at.. Whenever I look for tables, I try to avoid tables where I feel there are more than 2 two capable players.

Anyway here are my stats

Cash games

+27 buyins

Tournaments

- 301.96

I probably will not be playing tournaments for the rest of the month. Instead I'll focus my attention to cash games and try to be one of the biggest winners at my limit this month..

Last night, I went deep in the $26 6max KO at 11pm at FT. However, it wasn't meant to be and I finished 12th, getting knocked out with my AQs vs. AJs AIPF. I was 8th at the time and would have had a top 3 stack had I won. The guy who knocked me out ended up getting 3rd for 1k so what can u do right... Just thought about that for a bit before I went to bed...

This is a pretty emo post, but what can you do. I'm out. Apparently there is a hot and spicy festival in the GTA (according to my gf), so I want to check it out since I'm a huge fan of spicy foods... I gotta get ready.... take it easy!
