.5 way through the month

Blog by : kensmoe8

Good start to the month.... Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself. I've been 16 tabling 50nl and took one very successful stab at 16 tabling 100nl. I would obviously liked to have played more hands, but after commuting 3hrs for work each day, theres not much time. Here's results so far:

Day off from work

Blog by : kensmoe8

Since work gave us a free extra paid holiday, I decided to get a few hands in this morning before getting to some much needed yard work this afternoon. I decided I wanted to take a shot at 100nl and quickly won a buyin and left...lol. Then I went back to 16 tabling 50nl and ran super good. Probably was my second biggest cash game win this year. I wanted to post a few hands, but pt3 is being gay again and I don't want to mess w/it. Heres stats:

End of June/New Job

Blog by : kensmoe8

The last month has been fun taking some time off from work and playing poker, but it was a bit stessful knowing that I was playing to pay the bills. It turns out that I didn't need any of the poker money for bills since my severence package lasted until the end of June, but there was no telling when I would have found a new job and I may have needed it. I think this month and a half was very helpful to my poker game and I obv produced some good results at the micro limits. Hopefully putting in all of these hands will help prepare me to step up levels in the months to come. I'm finally starting to feel more comfortable at 50nl so hopefully I can start grinding out some hands at that level in the evenings after work. Too bad I won't be able to put in 5-6k hands in a day anymore, but i suppose 800-1k will have to suffice.

Heres some screenshots of my results from the time I was layed off (May 6) to June 22 when I started work. (When adding in bonus + rakeback my total profit while unemployed was around $3700.)

Heres some screenshots of June only stats. The majority of the hands were played before I started working full time:

End of May and End of Grinding

Blog by : kensmoe8

Good news! Got a job offer this morning for a software engineer position in Raleigh @ EMC. Now I won't have to grind all day and I'll be looking to build my bankroll and move up to 100nl soon since I won't need to cashout as much for my bills. My days as a full time microstakes grinder only lasted less than a month but I think I did really well with it. I made a decent amount and got in a lot of hands. With the new job I'll just go back to playing an hour or 2 every night for supplemental income. Below are my May results. The first ~12k hands were prior to the layoff on the 6th.

Full Time LL Grinder

Blog by : kensmoe8

Sooo on May 6, my company decided to layoff 350+ employees....myself included. They pretty much just cut the whole division which really sucks. Being that I have no more job, I have been taking my pokering a bit more seriously. I've been playing 4-5 hours a day at 25nl and 50nl, 8 tabling. I've been doing really well and I almost have made more than I would have being at work the past two weeks, averaging ~$28/hr when rakeback is figured in. Although my results are there, I am still in all out mode to find a new job. I've had some promising interviews this past week and hopefully I'll be hearing back next week with some offers. In the meantime I'm in all out grind mode. I'm very hesitant to move up as I can't afford to take many risks right now so I'm sticking to the low limits I'm comfortable with. I should be able to make enough to cashout ~$750-$1k per week and still have a decent enough roll to 8table 25nl and 50nl. Hopefully I'll get a new job soon and won't have to grind so much. It has been a blessing though that I've been able to sustain a decent income in a time of unemployment. With poker, unemployment checks and a decent sevrence package, I could come out with some nice profit from this job loss.

Heres my results since May 6 (using PT2 since PT3 is sooooo SLOW).

End of March post

Blog by : kensmoe8

Seems like the only time I update is at the end of the month, but I guess it will be good to look back at progress. I didn't really do too much since my previous post. I moved up to 50nl for a few thousand hands and didn't run too well so I spent the rest of the month making up those losses. I also began to try to learn some PLO and get some hands in there. I'm not too good at that game, but I'm trying to learn. I also want to note that I love playing FTP and getting rakeback. The extra 10-12 buyins given to me at the end of the month is huge. Heres some screenshots of stats and charts:

March is going well so far

Blog by : kensmoe8

So far this month I have been doing pretty well. I recently switched back to playing on FTP and I don't know why I ever left. I've been 8 tabling for the most part for a couple hours a day. My goal is to play 40k hands this month. I'm not quite sure if I can get there or not, but I'm off to a good start. I've been debating for a while now about how often to cash out, and I think I decided that I'd cash out 1/2 my winnings each week. I have a bunch of debts/bills to pay off, so until they are paid off I think I need to be cashing out frequently. I know this is hurting my chances of moving up where obv could potentially make more money at higher stakes and pay these debts off faster. I'm fine with it for now I suppose and will reevaluate in a few months if needed. Heres a screenshot of my March so far:

Done for the month

Blog by : kensmoe8

Just finished up a session and since I can't play tomorrow, I'm done playing for the month. Overall it was a good month. I don't think I ran all that well though. I had a pretty big downswing in the middle of the month but I ended the month well. I also had to cash out ~70% of my bankroll this month to pay for some items so that hurt a bit pokerwise. With the deminished bankroll I moved back to 25nl (20nl on Prima) and hopefully will be back to 50nl soon. Heres the months stats:

Rebuilding my roll

Blog by : kensmoe8

So I had to cash out over 1/2 my roll to pay for a few large purchases I made recently so I'm trying to build it back up. I'm at ~$900 between Eurolinx and FTP. Hopefully I can build it back over 2k and get to playing 50nl again soon. Had a good run the past 2 days; most of it being today at Eurolinx 20nl. Played for about 1 hr yesterday and almost 4hrs this afternoon. I feel like I'm playing really well but I lost a 275BB pot where villian flopped nut flush and i flopped 2nd nut flush... O well, nothing I can do about that. Heres the results from the past 2 days.

Positive Results

Blog by : kensmoe8

Had good results with no real big hands. My biggest winner was 18BB hand and biggest loser was 7BB. Nothing noteworthy really, just a bunch of grinding. I played for about 1.5 hours of 4tabling 25nl on stars. Maybe going to play some more 50nl soon, but I feel most comfortable at 25nl. Also, I think I ought to move away from playing on Stars since I'm not really earning much via FPPs and could be getting rakeback elsewhere.
