First time blog

For someone who has had occasional tilt issues in the past, I think making occasional blog entries may be a good avenue for me to stay more even keeled. I will keep it strictly poker related, and probably try to share some of my progress.

I started dabbling in poker when I was a sophomore in college (2004 i think), as some of my roomates had discovered the glory that is Party Poker over the summer. I caught on pretty quick, as I have always been good at strategy games and an analytically minded person. I pretty much consistently made a decent amount of money throughout college, enough to fund the 50% of my tuititon that was not covered by scholarships. However, I started to work full time about 2 years ago, and once I had this steady income, I was able to let the money that I had online grow. This is really when I started to rise out of 1/2 and 2/4 nlh for the first time.

I started playing PLO cash games about a year ago. Out of the blue, I started playing some HU PLO, and I was instantly drawn to it and how swingy and gambly it was. Very quickly, I began crushing these games, and looking back, I had a tremendous amount of leaks. However, I kind of naturally applied crazy aggression, and this worked like a gem (except against tight opponents, who still give me problems).

I also play a lot of MTT's, and I feel really good about my understanding of the game at this point.

I've never been the best in terms of BR management, and I also never keep that much money online. This led me to recently bust my rolls across the board. I've been having problems depositing online, so that led me to just start fresh and write this blog.

I noticed that I had some FPPs on Stars, so I cashed them in for a sweatshirt and $160 cash credit. A few days ago I plopped that $160 on a 1/2 hu plo table, and I have since ran it up to ~5kish. So, basically, I am close to being back on my feet again and I hope to be playing in every big tourney offered online again sometime soon.

GL at the tables.
