I went into today so focused and so disciplined. I sat there patiently, waiting for the nuts like old guys do. First hand today I passed over the perfect squeeze opportunity when an aggro-young player opened in the HJ and an old guy called on the BTN and I had AJo in the SB.
DISCIPLINE.
That was to be the theme of the day.
I made two big hands and got paid, turning my 25K into 90K. With 10 minutes to go until the dinner break I was sitting pretty with 88K at the 400/800 level.
Then I get moved to a new table and, less than 3 orbits later, I'm out.
First, I raised MP with QJd and triple barrelled HU oop on 9s 7d 3s Kc 8x. I got called down by QQ and fell to 61K. I feel like this isn't TOO bad, but it's always annoying being readless when you get moved to a new table. I swear being on a table that doesn't break is a ridiculously huge advantage in tournaments.
Then on the last hand before dinner, everyone hurriedly folded and left and when it got to the SB he pushed for 15200 (19bbs) . He was probably early 30s and had opened every button so he seemed competent. Turns out he's probably a gigantic nit. Anyway I had 33 in the BB and decided to call. Consensus is that that was a mistake. No surprise, I'm a retard after all. He had 88 and I fell to 46K.
Perfect time to have dinner and regroup right.
I come back and first orbit get dealt 99 in MP. With the blinds now at 500/1000, UTG2 opens to 2500, I call, the old guy next to act makes it 8K, and UTG2 calls when it's back to him. I'm 46K deep to start hand so I think it's a bit rich to set mine here so I make a DISCIPLINED fold. No doubt that was incorrect. And It certainly was when the flop came 952ss.
So now I'm on huge tilt and after whiffing the flop 4 way with AK I pick up 77 the next orbit on my BTN. Folds to the same guy with the 88 before and he opens with 30K to 2700 in the CO. I have 38K, so I can't set mine, and I can't see how I can just open fold, so I decide to 3-bet call. Obviously retarded because when I do he says "I guess you got me" and flips over QQ.
I busted my 7BB stack soon after.
So basically I played like a nit all day, ran up a good stack, then randomly punted 45K to this slowrolling nit in two marginal spots (and tried to bluff probably a major calling station). In future I will think of what to do and do the opposite. I really suck.
It's my birthday in 2 hours. Going to forget this tournament happened.
