ok, need encouragement

Alright guys... First of all, i apologize for not blogging more. Well, the last few weeks haven't gone exactly how i planned. I've dropped 13 buyins at 0.50/1.00 NL in the first 20 hours of play. Because of how i've been running i haven't put in near the hours i wanted to (even though i adjusted my goal to 3 hrs a day). Every time i sit down i feel as though i'm going to lose another 2-3 buy ins. I am running below equity, however, i am taking coolers more than anything. I know ive only played about 20 hours but until i string a few winnings sessions in a row i feel like i can't do anything right.

I'm basically just looking for anyone who has hit a wall soon after starting a goal (or quitting their job to play full time) to give me some insite on how to get through it. It is very discouraging to be losing at such low stakes play. All my issues are in my head. My play isn't bad. I'd say about 2-3 of the buy ins were lost due to bad play/tilt...

anyway, can ya give me some food for thought? what did/do you do when you're in the biggest downswing of your life... when you string 8-9 losing days together? any help? i've had alot of swings b4... and understand i've just got to play through it... and i will... i just want some ideas to keep my mind right!!! thanks all!

The Night Before...

... the beginning of the rest of my life...

Hey all, my name is Josh Teekell. I'm 23, from houston, have a ME degree, love sports, movies, etc... and poker too! :) I quit my job makin $55K a year (10-15K bonus) to play cards for a living. 1) i can set my own hours 2) i answer to no one 3) i can take vacation when i want 4) i can work while on vacation... lol need i go on?

(quick disclaimer once and for all, i used to edit papers for grammar mistakes for friends in college... i know how to write perfectly.. and..obviously i don't give a shit about grammar in this blog......however, dumb fucks annoy the shit outa me.....)

So a little poker background on me... i started playing about 4 years ago... like most i deposited 6-7 times in the first 6 months or so... u know the drill. Finally started to pick up the game and had some relatively big success from month 12-18... won about 20K in a semester playing MTT's on paradise. I've played cards live alot in houston, around the country at casinos, online off and on for the last 4 years... i killed the 5/10 games at the Rio during the WSOP this year... I'm a consistent winner... however, i have demons......

In a nutshell 1) I am a sick talent.... I can make discusting reads live.... I know that if I can somehow commit to poker fully, I WILL be one of the top players in the world in 4-5 years... 2) Tho i have improved in the past year, I've improved from NO bankroll management to NOT ENUF bankroll management 3) I do enjoy getting a rush out of poker... and that can lead to unnecessary shots at higher stakes 4) It is difficult for me to stick to goals that are longer than a week 5) I am lazy 6) I am competitive as shit 7) Accountability is soooooooooo important for me....

anyway, I'm rambling.... but i quit my job 2 months ago.... went to vegas for the WSOP was up about 6K (3K after getting stiffed for 3K by a "friend" ) and then went to AC and NYC with a friend for 2 weeks....

Though I have more $ available, I have $1500 a month overhead and i've paid my bills three months out...

bottom line is i start THIS GOAL TOMORROW this goal is the first of many in my newly found poker CAREER

1) 35 days of play 2) average 5.5 hours a day 3) $0.50/1.00 6max and Full Ring (Alternating days) 4) first week (4-5 tables) 2nd week ( 6 table) 3rd week (7-8 tables) 4th-5th weeks (8-9 tables)

by the numbers @ 4 BB per 100 (per hour).... averaging 6.5 tables ill make 8*6.5*5*35 = $10,000

im starting with a roll of only $2,000 on Pokerstars... by getting my roll to $10,000-$12,000, i'll be able to cash out enuf to pay bills for another 2-3 months... and still have enuf to move up to 1/2 NL.

I'll blog daily... wish me luck!
