No run overs here, thank you for trying though

Had some funny chat at the table this session, the title being one of the phrases I heard. A fish limped in the CO, i fold in the sb, and BB (TAGgy but pretty bad) pops it up. CO snap limp/reraises AI (something he would do many times during the session, but I never had anything better than T8s :(). I had myself a good laugh. I ended up $4.67 after 1k hands and not running too hot but I don't want to go into bad beats. Just going to post some hands and then a little analysis on it. Hope some of you can critique and give me advice.

BB is a huge donk like 49/8 with an FCB of 33%. Pretty much valuetown till the river. I didn't see many 6's in his range and 99/JJ are both so unlikely. I also just counterfeited J9 (but that'll never fold anyways) so the most likely thing he can have for value is 98o. But there's just so many J-x's and even just FD's bluffing I shoved. He'd be getting like 6:1 or something crazy in that area to call me so I doubt any KJ/AJ EVER mucks.

This hand is a little more interesting. BTN is a 47/33 fish only over 18 hands, SB seemed like a donk because of his stack size but I had reads other than that. Flop itself is interesting and I think a lot of players mistakingly check (or correctly) but I would HATE to see this flop get checked through so I bet. The turn isn't too friendly but still a lot of draws, I'm ahead of most that doesn't raise the flop, so valuetown it is. River is paired so not too many K's in his range, but is a vb too thin when the FD misses?

So BB here was a 31/19 over 16 hands but I'd played him before and had a note on him "station." I'd 3bet him this session with JJ vs his utg open and he 4bet me. I folded. In this hand, I think JJ+ would 3bet preflop so I can rule those hands out almost completely. I'd expect PPs under 66 to be timid here, but 66/77 could definitely lead. The full-pot lead is a little perplexing to me. He would probably checkraise an 8 or 33 so it seems to me like he has a decent hand (maybe a draw with an overcard) but he doesn't really want action. Thus his value range is probably 66,77, 99, and TT. That's 24 combos. There are a ton of FDs on this board that I wanted to give the chance to fire on the turn. I ship the turn after calling flop for value. I didn't expect 77/66 to continue firing and 99-TT could slow down as well so that leaves like half the combos of 77 and 4 combos of 99/TT for a total of 11 combos for value. I shove for value because this looks like a draw to me. This was an interesting hand and I'd appreciate any feedback on it.

Here's another hand, this one was vs a 40/36/6 over 45 hands. He was somewhat positionally aware, but it could've easily just been the sample size. The caller was a 21/16/3 standard TAG. Both their ranges include a lot of worse Fd's so I call because I'm going to have those hands completely dominated postflop and I know to play TP very tightly postflop if I hit, so that's not a big worry to me. UTG has also cb 5/6 boards so I expect him to fire a lot postflop into two players, and if I hit a draw ginger might raise a combo draw and I'll jam over him. If he calls and I raise, that's good as well.

Being OOP sucks, is that enough to fold preflop? I'm going to run some detailed maths tomorrow when I have time but I'm not so sure it was a good call...especially with the rake at 5NL.

So on the flop we have an easy c/r for value. His sizing pretty much rules out any AK/AQ imo but with his wide range he can have hands like JT/QJ here a bunch imo. The real range I want to target in his range are the draws that I have so dominated. I shoved the turn because if he's ever ever folding a PP that he might have made a loose call with, or even a weak jack, it's a snap-shove. But I'm so far ahead of his draws I really want to give a free card (or let those hands jam) so that I can own him on the river.

Again I'll do some EV calcs and post results in my next blog post. But for now I think it's close between c/c, shove, and maybe even c/f. Let me know what you guys think.

This was a good session for me, no tilt and I'm improving a bunch.

Blog by : its4thecatlol

Title says it all. At time of writing, I have $85 in my account (so that means 5NL) and I want to be back at 100NL in just a few short weeks. Follow me on my quest from the bottom of the micros to SSNL! I'm going to try to post interesting hands for discussion and comment here, but mostly this will be a way for me to keep myself motivated and be honest with my results.
