march so far

march has been going well, ive been playing a decent amount...a little off pace from my 100 hour goal but hopefully i can get there, im at 28h right now

im in a lot better overall mood than i was last month, summers getting closer and the weather is getting better...it gets tough living thru 6 months of rain everyday especially since im such a sun worshipper.. it just seems to really affect my mood/energy level and kind of puts me in a reclusive mood which sucks.. i really need a vacation or something before summer but it kind of sucks because all my friends work all the time and dont have money to blow on a week away and i dont really talk to a ton of poker players other than the 3-4 that ive talked to since i started playing.

another thing i really want to work on is not being such a nit pokerwise, and starting to take stabs at some higher stakes..i just cashout so much but i have enough in the bank now that i wont need to for a really long time and im at 22k in my poker acct so once i hit ~30k im going to be taking a lot more chances

heres a picture i painted last month when i was bored..i bit it off another picture i saw and i thought it would look pretty awesome on a big canvas

grind on the mind?

this month has been extremely frusterating, im running at 5.68ptbb over just under 20k hands which is a solid winrate, but there has been like 9-10 times where i just drop 8-10 buyins in like 30 hands with pretty standard coolers/suckouts w/e but when it comes in such a short period of time like that its kind of overwhelming and kills my motivation a ton because i realize how much short term luck is involved blah blah blah, yes i know i shouldnt worry about it but im still learning that and getting a lot better at not tilting when this happens.

SO no excuses for next month, im going to play 100 hours and just try to play my A game all the time and not focus on results. Another thing im going to work on is not checking the cashier after every pot, its become an annoying habit and i feel it is very -ev for your game (trying to recover losses when stuck, trying to preserve a win when your up ect ect)

hmm..nothing else really new, bought a new car (nothing special just a 98 acura rl, i feel a nice car is kind of burning money unless you have a ton to burn) and im planning on putting down payments on 2 condos in the next few months because prices are just really low right now and i have the money to invest, so im gonna read on that and get some help from my dad who knows a ton on the subject and hopefully i can find 2 places by summer. Another goal i have for summer is to be playing 400nl+ regularly (i have 150bi already for the limit but i cashout way too much and keep lots of money offline) and lots of higher games when theres a soft spot.

a little bit about myself

Blog by : hookthastack

I always had a love for games, as far back as i can remember i have been very comptitive with myself and others... it started with team sports but i quickley realized i hated being part of a team just because i didnt feel everyone else had the same passion to win as i did. I started playing cards when i was 11 or so, me and my older sister would play gin/rummy until she could no longer beat me, she taught me the game and in 3 months she just couldnt win anymore so she quit me.

After that i got into magic cards (i was a huge closet nerd) id go to the stage everyday after middle school and just play for 2 hours a day, 3-4 days a week, i was a total magic card degen. I quit playing when i got my first serious girlfriend, this was about the time highschool started and skateboarding became my new love, i didnt play any type of card game for a few years until one of my best friends decided we should play a home game of poker, $5 sit n go style.. i lost the first time and probably played like a weak passive retard, but once i learnt the game a bit better i started to crush our home sit n goes, and my love for poker began.

On my 19th birthday my friends bought me into a sit n go at the casino i think it was a $60+5 or something, me and my friend ended up chopping for first and i made a cool $250 and thought i was the best poker player in the world, this became my casino roll which i ran up to about $2,000 and ended up busting it because i was still pretty bad at poker, but i had no quit in me, id take 100 or 200 from my paycheques and run it up to 1k or 2k and inevitably bust it before repeating the process, this happened probably 5-6 times.. i figured i wasnt gonna make it as a poker player anymore.

Eventually i got a full time job which i hated, after quitting this job after 3 months me and my friend went to the casino one day to cheer up a bit, and i ended up getting a share in a bad beat jackpot which made me rolled now, i was estatic...finally a decent roll to work with...but i still sucked. So i would go play live poker every few days and pretty much win small or breakeven and had terrible bankroll management, i would spend any winnings i had before they could even see my bankroll. I started playing a bit of online poker but never anything serious (deposit 200 and play 1/2nl ect) until i was almost busto again, i then decided enough was enough, im going to learn this game right..

I started with a 300 dollar bankroll online and played 10nl while reading 2p2 and talking to my one poker friend who i met at 10nl (tiltasaurusrex) he showed me what rakeback was, 2p2, taught me proper bankroll management and helped my game more than anyone, we were both pretty bad at poker though so we dwelled in the 25nl-50nl micros for a few months, i had my first 2k+ month in may of 2008 and never looked back
