change of plans

i havent updated in a while because a few days ago all of a sudden, ftp became unplayable. i couldn't post my blind half of the time without sitting out even if i wasnt using any additional software. so no more 100k hands challenge. for the past several days, ive just relaxed and had fun.

today, i was talking to a 2p2 buddy on aim, and he got me in the mood to play lo8, which i hadnt played in forever. in fact, i had sworn off the game because i have wasted so much time, money and energy on it and i still suck. but i dusted off pto and went at it, playing 3/6 on my meeger $165 stars roll. my buddy helped me in a bunch of spots and having him watching was greatly beneficial. the session went great (had fun + ran like god), and i managed to make a lot of money even though i was timing out in spots trying to figure out what to do (im rusty, okay?). +312 in 224 hands. ship!

scoop!

100k hands in 20 days - the beginning

Blog by : holdme

i will be playing 100k hands starting yesterday until i go back home for xmas. i will be playing 8 tables at nl100. im still deciding if i want to move up during this stretch of hands. the most hands ive ever completed in a month was 25k (lol). this should be interesting. i will actually be updating this blog now hopefully every day and starting to post hands once i figure out that converter.

11-26: my first thousand dollar cash day. i had to quit a little early because i started to run bad, and i wanted to pop my 1k cherry. i played pretty well overall, and ran hot in a couple spots.

11-27: today was less of a grind although my ass hurts more from all of this sitting. the beginning of my session was uncomfortable and antsy, but then i calmed down and sat there for 3k hands without wanting to leave. even though today was really swingy, it seemed like it took forever before i hit any of action, but once it came, i was winning and losing stacks like crazy. i did spike a one outter 150bb deep today, but despite that, i didnt think i ran very well.

Bad Day

Blog by : holdme

Today was pretty bad. Not being results oriented, but I think my play sucked. I wasn't as focused as I should have been. I tilted, and I didn't play optimally. I got almost 6 hours of single tabling in today, which is the most I've played as far as cash games are concerned. I played ~1300 hands and finished down a buy-in. -4.45ptbb/100 today.

I felt that the quality of my oppenents increased, but if I had played them optimally, perhaps they would have made more mistakes. I was impatient and overaggressive and bluffed in spots that I shouldn't have. On top of that, I missed class to play poker. It seems like a shame when you lose money on the day.

It all went downhill after some downie hit n ran me. Perhaps it's that dreaded hu variance:

Grand Weekend

Blog by : holdme

I decided this weekend that I would focus on heads-up nlhe. Overall, I played pretty well, and I'm happy about my results. Most of the money that I made was off of the donks, and there were quite a few of them. I felt like I had control of almost every match, which is awesome since I'm so fresh to this style of play. I definitely look forward to playing more hu in the future.

I ran into a couple people who gave me a little trouble. One guy in particular, I remember. He was very, very aggressive. It is rare to run into a guy who plays heads up super-aggro at small stakes. On top of that, the fact that I'm pretty aggressive meant that there was a ton of raising and reraising pre- and post-flop. The match was very high-variance, although it didn't last long since I had to leave. I have no clue who had the longterm edge. He ended up taking about a buy-in off of me.

Here are the stats. Please note why I titled this entry the way that I did :

holdme joins cr

Yeah, wut it do??? A little about me: I'm a 21 year-old college student, soon to be a 22 year-old college student, attending Central Michigan University. I finally have the chance to play poker more on a "full-time" basis because I no longer have a part-time job. My goal is to run my bankroll up as high as I can, while cashing out as little as possible.

I generally play nl100 6max. Recently, I've fallen in love with hu play. I was starting to get bored with poker until I started hopping on the hu tables, and I'm playing more hands again. I feel amazingly confident in my hu game right now, and I'm making some very on the mark reads.

This blog will serve to keep me motivated to play hands, play well, and entertain anyone who wants to read. I don't know who's going to read this, but I'm sure there are a few 2p2ers who might be interested in my progress.

I will post an update of how my weekend of heads-up play went in a day or two.
