Crazy Night

Tonight was pretty wild. Greg "12dollars" Jones went deep in the 28K gtd. on Full Tilt. Then FTP decided to hit the boomswitch on him as he lost AJs vs. Q9 for a big portion of his stack....Then some spew monkey ships 20 bb's from the button with K4 into his AK......flop comes 4 4 x obv. This is the 4th time someone from our crew has made it to the final 18 in that tournament with no final tables to show for it. Pretty sick.

Meanwhile.....Joel "Konerko4prez" Johnson went on complete monkey tilt and registered for a $230 heads up SNG. His normal HU game is $33 or $55. Someone else registers and the table opens....the 2nd person to register was none other than the 2006 WSOP player of the year Jeff Madsen. LOL. Jeff wins the first four hands of the match and this happens on the 5th hand.......

Full Tilt Poker Game #10831256058: $220 + $10 Heads Up Sit & Go (81530280), Table 1 - 15/30 - No Limit Hold'em - 2:45:21 ET - 2009/02/25
Seat 1: Konerko4Prez (1,350)
Seat 2: Jeff Madsen (1,650)
Jeff Madsen posts the small blind of 15
Konerko4Prez posts the big blind of 30
The button is in seat #2
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Konerko4Prez [Kh 5h]
Jeff Madsen raises to 90
Konerko4Prez calls 60
*** FLOP *** [3c Jc 2h]
Konerko4Prez bets 120
Jeff Madsen calls 120
*** TURN *** [3c Jc 2h] [Kd]
Konerko4Prez bets 300
Jeff Madsen raises to 1,440, and is all in
Konerko4Prez calls 840, and is all in
Jeff Madsen shows [7d Jh]
Konerko4Prez shows [Kh 5h]
Uncalled bet of 300 returned to Jeff Madsen
*** RIVER *** [3c Jc 2h Kd] [Qd]
Jeff Madsen shows a pair of Jacks
Konerko4Prez shows a pair of Kings
Konerko4Prez wins the pot (2,700) with a pair of Kings
Jeff Madsen: lol
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 2,700 | Rake 0
Board: [3c Jc 2h Kd Qd]
Seat 1: Konerko4Prez (big blind) showed [Kh 5h] and won (2,700) with a pair of Kings
Seat 2: Jeff Madsen (small blind) showed [7d Jh] and lost with a pair of Jacks

JJ's thoughts on the hand were that he had been playing pretty nitty and could lead out and just take the pot out on the flop with a fairly dry board. When he turns top pair he fires again and Madsen ships it. When Madsen shoves, JJ said he put him on a flush draw and was possibly trying to take the pot away since the K could've been a good semi-bluff card since Konerko had looked to been representing a pair of jacks with the flop bet. The next hand they got it all in pre and Konerko's AJ held vs. Madsen's QJ. Obviously the best part of the HH is the Jeff Madsen: lol

I have been running pretty terribly. I put in a big MTT session last night on FTP and Pokerstars and absolutely got ruled. Had a decent chip stack in a 6 max tourney on pokerstars when some guy called my 5-bet all in with 89???? I had AK and definitly not winning that. Was having a good run in the 28k and on Full Tilt only to come up short and finish in like 60th.

Thats all for now. Hopefully will update this blog on a more frequent basis with some weekly updates.

Charity games

Blog by : harvounjo

Well we went down to Bloomington last night for this ICGA event (illinois charity games) and it didn't go too bad. Me, Neil "cachr22", and Nate "molto denaro" made the 2 hour drive. We started the day just playing some 1/2 NL cash games where i made about 80 bucks which paid for my main event buy in, which was nice. Neil was struggling as he was down a buy in early when he got AA on a Q J 9 board where one guy flatted his reraise with QQ and the other with K10... Nate made about 30 dollars and then we signed up for the Main Event, 80 dollar buy in with an optional 30 dollar rebuy and a 20 dollar add on... in which i did all of these so i was in for 130. The tourney drew about 70 people so it wasnt a bad prize pool, 1500 for first and it paid out 9 spots. I loaned neil the rest of my cash game chips (130 bucks) and he was gona hit the ring games again. No less than 30 minutes into the tourney i see old molto denaro walking over to my table... not a good showing for him lol... i was doing ok stealing some blinds and such but wasn't really getting any hands so i was at about 15 big blinds with 3 tables left. Then I picked up AA with the blinds at 400/800 and i had about 8k in chips.. a guy limped UTG so i made a small raise to 2500... he smooth called and the flop came A64 rainbow... he open shoved the flop and i called faster than you can imagine.. ( he had AQ).. so im back in the game now 20 bbs.. then i get 1010 and a guy with a lot of chips that i feel is a strong player limps UTG.. i raise it up 3.5x and figure if he comes over the top he has AA or KK but he flats it... flop comes 10 9 7... he checks and i check... turn comes a 6... im thinking if this guy has an 8 im going to kill myself... he checks and i bet and he shoves.. i think about it a sec and then call and he flips over AA and i win another big pot. Im sitting on like 40 bb's and probably in like 3rd place and it all just goes wrong... with like 2 tables to go i go card dead like crazy... get an AJ and lose to a guys shove with KQ... i lose 2 flips against this same short stack thats to my left and im getting kind of mad now...i basically got blinded out for the next hour... not seeing a hand better than A2o... made the final table and had 2 guys go out so there were 8 left and i was in the SB with like 2 bb's so i put it all in blind with a chance to 5x my money.. guy reshoves and shows AA to crush my A3 off... GG $234 dollars.... made about 150 bucks between food and gas and a few beers so not a bad night... for Neil on the other hand... he lost all my money and now owes me $203 lol

Update Nov 26-Dec 3

Blog by : harvounjo

Whats up,

I haven't blogged in about a week so. A lot has been going down with poker in that time. I recently put some money on Absolute poker. I swear I played some of the worst players on the internet over the first couple days....and they continued to somehow get the best of me courtesy of a combination of bad beats and coolers. I ended up busting the money I put on there and looks like I will be sticking to PStars for awhile now. Our poker crew here at school has temporarily been reduced from 5 to 4 players. Greg "12dollars" went on complete monkey tilt and went bust on Full Tilt after playing some high stakes Sng's......he then told us he was never going to play poker again. However, it seems he already has the itch again and probably will be playing again by the end of the week LOL. While our game of choice is generally NLHE, we have experienced the most success in other games this week. Yesterday, JJ "Konerko4Prez" shipped a $3 dollar PLO8 Rebuy on Full Tilt with 99 players. This is now his 2nd PLO8 MTT victory. Then today I dabbled in the exciting world of Razz and ended up making the final table out of 120 players and finishing 5th in a $3 tourney. I think thats about all for online. JJ, Nate "molto denaro", and I are going to be making a trip to a charity poker event on Saturday about 2 hours away. The plan is to grind out some cash games for awhile and then play the main event at night. Hopefully one of us can go deep in the tourney and make a big live score. Will be back on in a few days to blog about the trip.

New to Cardrunners

Blog by : harvounjo

Hey, this is Harv. I have just joined the site and this is my first blog entry where I thought I could start off with my poker background. I began playing with friends in home games when I was in high school. Now, I am a Junior in college, I feel my game is much improved over the years. I mainly play online on FTP as HarvMC10. Me and 4 of my college buddies/roomates have a "crew" so to say, they are 12dollars, Konerko4prez, cachr22, and _molto_denaro_. Mostly we all play pretty good but we just can't get over that hump to get going to the next level of consistent play. If anyone has any advice on that please give me some feedback. I have had small success in tournaments... with my OPR showing a $2200 profit and a positive 45% ROI but yet I still seem to go awry in cash games. I frequently get playing out of my bankroll and then go on losing streaks. I need a way of staying within my bankroll and trying to build up enough to move on to the next level. I'm out for the night, now that I have finished typing a paper.
