My story

Well I guess some people actually did read my last blog post so maybe I should tell you all why I stopped playing poker earlier this year. I started playing about June of last year while I was working at the WSOP as a compliance clerk. I basically just pushed paper all night long as I worked the swing shift. This also gave me the chance to watch a lot of poker because I was my own boss and as long as all my work was done at the end of the night, I was fine. So I would let it pile up for an hour or two and then go and work for an hour, then repeat the process until my shift was over. I also saw the CR booth and watched some of their stuff and met a couple of the people there working the booth. I deposited some money and was doing really well until about January of this year where I went on total monkey tilt and blew my entire bank roll on $100 and $200NL. I was the poster child for going about a downswing the wrong way, I went up in stakes instead of going down. So I blew my whole roll and swore off poker. It was actually probably good that I stopped playing as we just got married and I had to help plan all of that and wouldn't have had the time to play anyway. But now that the wedding is over, I deposited some money back on FTP and will try to get my game back along with my roll. If you read this and would like to start a study group or anything like that, I would love to do so, just let me know.

Thanks,
Geoff

PS: played a little today and was up another 2 buy-ins, so far so good!

First Day Back

This is going to be a blog about my return to poker. I don't think anyone will read it but I think it will be good for my game to write about how I think I played. So, here it goes.........

Today I played 2 sessions that lasted about an hour and a half total. I was up a little over 4 buy ins at $10 NL. I think that I played pretty well for it being my first day back after taking about 6 months off. I didn't play too fancy and just let the other players donk off their chips to me. I had some interesting situations but unfortunately I didn't mark them in PT3 so I can't post any of them. That is something that I need to work on and will try to post at least one hand in my next blog. I haven't played $10NL for awhile and I forgot how bad some of the players are! It was nice to win on my first day but I don't have any illusions about it being about my skill, most people can win at $10NL if they just play straight forward. I watched 2 verneer videos before starting to play and I really think that they helped me. I tried out a few of his suggestions and I really liked the way they helped my game. I will watch a couple more before I play again tomorrow. If you do actually read this, please post a comment so I know that you did. I would definitely appreciate it! I will probably play again tomorrow and will try to blog about it as I will try to blog everyday that I play so that I can have a record of my thoughts, even if I'm the only one who reads it!

Thanks for your time,
Geoff
