Horrible Start to '10

Blog by : FLGatorFan1

Not writing much as I am quite frustrated. So far this month I have logged 7124 hands to start the month, unfortunately I am down $3300 and am running $2650 below all in EV. I play very focused and well to start a session then every single hand I am in I feel like I get outdrawn.

I just looked back over the last two days at hands where I have invested $100 in the pot and of these 34 hands I have only won 9 of them.

I don't really know what to do to get back in it after this. I've lost about 1/2 my bankroll by being stupid and making poor decisions because of me running bad.

I have a hard time focusing because I think of the past and what could have happened rather than just forget and play my best going forward.

I think I am going to take a couple of days break and then come back and play at the $1./.50 6 max tables and just grind up. These last two days have been two of the worst in poker for me and I feel like I threw away a couple of months of play.

I think my new goal for the month is to continue grinding away and shoot for the leaderboards of the rake race of UB so I can recoup a lot of the loss.

2009 Finishing Up

Blog by : FLGatorFan1

Its been a while since I posted a blog entry. Going to keep it short in this one.

Finished up October down a half buy in, so basically even, and then had a very good November despite not putting in the hands.

I finished up $3956 spread between $1/2 and $.50/1 NL 6 max. Three quarters of that came in two sessions where I won 10 buy ins at 1/2 one day and 10 buy ins at $.50/1 another day. I ran hot the entire month though I think I have definitely improved, and played more focused.

December I again have not put in the hands, currently at 13,106 hands, but I done pretty well when I have. I started off the month poorly down about $1500 and fought it back up to being up $675 currently. I'll probably look to finish this month around 15k hands and then look toward 2010.

The main thing I look to accomplish in 2010 is to find out if poker is something I can see myself doing in the future. I'm going to have to start putting in 30k hands a month and dedicating myself to watching more cardrunners videos and overall study. I'm still very young, 18, about to turn 19, but I feel like I am waisting my time, by not playing more hours of poker each day.

On a side note the Gators play Cinci on the 1st which they should win despite all the distractions. If they do that will start my 2010 on a positive note and hopefully I can add to it with some good poker sessions.

PLO Kicked My Ass

Blog by : FLGatorFan1

I got my new computer earlier this month and so far so bad.

I started poorly in NLH but have turned that around and am up about a half buy in and feel very comfortable playing in those games.

Wish I could say the same for PLO. I clearly don't know what I am doing well enough or I am running horribly bad. I think it is a combination of the two but still it has been pretty bad. This picture tells it all. Over half of this has been in the last two days, with a -$800 dollar session yesterday and a -$600 dollar session today.

I think I am done with PLO for now and will just stick to NLH even though I really don't feel like I am any worse than the others in the games. Whenever I do feel like giving PLO a shot again I am going to watch many Cardrunners PLO videos before I get started, but currently I cannot handle the variance, and am not good enough to have a big edge in the games.

If there is anything good I have gotten out of these past two days, it is that I now have the hunger again to put in a lot of hours playing rather than getting complacent. I have put in 11,000 hands so far this month and look to finish at about 20,000 and then around 30,000+ hands a month. Hopefully I am able to recoup some of my losses to close out this month, but I am not going to play to try and win it all back, because when I do that I play poorly and end up loosing more. This is what happened with PLO, got down a bit and continued to try and win it back.

Anyway, enough rambling, time to play some more.

Things About to Get Rolling

Blog by : FLGatorFan1

I am planning on starting a blog that I hope to keep regularly updated for a log of my results and general thoughts at the time period I write it.

Plan to start playing regularly (at least 1000 hands a day) when I get my new computer (Dell XPS Studio 16). Really excited to get a new computer as I have been playing on my 4 year old dinosaur laptop that just cannot handle me playing with holdem manager running.

I have been playing at $0.5/$1 NL 6 max tables pretty regularly but never have I pushed myself to really do it full time. My results have been decent, but I've never put in enough effort to really better myself, and usually have a hard time focusing while playing. My goal is that, when my new computer arrives, I will put in more focus to my play. Actually paying attention to my opponents, thinking through hands thoroughly before making a decision, and watching some cardrunners videos to better my game.

I have lots of time so getting in 30,000 hands a month is perfectly reasonable. I am currently enrolled at Central Florida though I am only taking 6 credit hours, which leaves me with plenty of time to get hands in. I usually get in around 10k to 15k hands a month not putting much effort into it.

Mainly writing this blog for myself to keep track of my results and write down my goals and if others enjoy reading than that's a bonus.
