Microstakes Playa - April 10nl Graph

Blog by : famumoe

So this is my graph from April playing 10nl full ring. Its weird because when I began the month I was play 6max and couldnt figure why I was getting slaughtered. I knew the fundamentals but I could not apply them effectively. At this point Im probably gonna play maybe 10k more hands of 10nl then move up. At one point tonight it was like things clicked, I would never ever say it's easy but thats how it honestly felt. Many times I may have laid down the best hand and that is ok but everysingle time all the money went in I was ahead of the villains.

If there any other microgrinders holla at me.

ZaRolla get your comms up hahaha. Good looking to the micro video's from citizenwind and veneer and the math mumbo jumbo from vital myth..lol

Peace

I havent written a post in almost a month because I believe I am a blogger reject. I can't post graphs and its a pain in the azz to post hand histories. I've been going kinda of hard at Fullring 10nl but I figure I should be going much harder attempting to get in at least 40k hands next month. I'm around 21k for the month so hopefully I can finish strong to hit 25k. I do not mass table because I believe I'm not good enough to do that. I play 6-8 tables of Fullring with a LagTag strategy.

Since becoming a cardrunners member 2months ago my growth has been crazy. I continue to watch video's everyday and read forum post as well. I've been going back to mixing in 6max as well just to keep that part of my game fresh. Its crazy how bad 10nl players are. I really wonder at what level do the players overall become more competent. I guess I will figure out.

So far im up 21 buyins at 10nl. Will probably play 10nl next month as well looking to move up when I have 30bi for 25nl.

Rants: (a)I laugh when reading in forums when 25nl and 50nl players want to form groups but believe the play is soooo drastically different between the levels that 10nl players cannot offer advice or a different of thought.
(b) chatting and berating at microstakes is sooo funny. Individuals who play 45/2/1.2 calling other people donks. I make an attempt to not get involved in the chatter but I feel like I have too. Guess it come from me being a trash talker in sports. But its all fun and games to me but people take it veryy personal over the internet which is funny as if you are going to beat me up on the computer..haahha. Then they get mad and try to "outplay me"..hahahah and I just reel them in raising non-standard hands but not puting much money into the pot and then hit them with the hammer when I have a dominant hand. I tell these fools I play abc poker but I don't even know if they know what that is. Oh well if you are a microstakes player and would like another microstakes playa to discuss poker theory, hands, lines, etc hit me uppppp.

Peace and chicken grease

Life of a Microstakes Playa....

LIFE: I tutor High School Students for a non profit called Harlem Children Zone which Pres. Obama is utilizing as a model for inner cities around the country. It's great because we cover the stages from newborn to college for the children. When the parents are pregnant they attend workshops to help them with being new parents. When they child becomes a toddler they attend a school that teaches them foreign languages and math...Its crazy. As they progress in age they learn more advanced things, etc.
Long story short I was teaching my students about the Tulsa Race Riots of 1921. There was a town that was called the "Black Wall Street". Everything was black owned in the town from the Banks to the Doctor offices. Anyhow a situation occurred where a non-black lady was heard screaming and that quickly ignited the Oklahoma National Guard and local militia to burn down the town causing $7million($21 mil in today's money) in damage. At one point they herded the town's people into a stadium and began firing. Estimates range over 3k people were killed and 10k people left homeless. By teaching my students about this event I wanted to instill in them not to take what they have for granted and to acknowledge what our ancestors have gone through for us to be here today.

POKER: Moving along I played 748 hands in about 2 1/2hrs of Full Ring and won 3buy-ins.So I watched one of Veneer's video's about playing multiway pots and the concept of bet sizing whats expounded upon. Because this is a leak of mine I paid extra attention. I'm not really a math guy so while I know about odds and I use it when drawing to determine when to call and I never thought about it in terms of if i bet $6 into a $12 pot I only need win 33% to show a profit.
While this has been insightful I find micro players don't really pay attention to bet sizes. So if I'm betting a 1/3 of a pot they just see a small bet and re raise. I say this because I do it many times..haha. But they don't have CR so I err on the side of them just donk betting to see where they are. I usually fire on the turn again unless they bet close to pot size and they usually fold. Obviously this is player dependent.

The past 2 days I've been applying a different line of flatting with my KK's and AA's just to get a feel. I would post the hands but for some reason I can't. But basically I have stacked 2 people yesterday and 1 today flatting the top of my range minus A-K. All 3 of them were loose and passive and oop versus me.

Unsure if this is a good fold or not but the villain is utg+1 playing 30/0/1.1. Don't have many hands with him but from what I observed he is kinda of a calling station, loose and passive. So when my Q hits on the flop against him I figure to be ahead of his range so I'm looking to get straight value from the station. My flop bet is meh but hey whatever he is either folding or staying in. Obviously the station stays so I over bet the turn when I hit 2 pair to value town him and he call again so now spidey senses start to go off a tad bit. On the turn an A hits and he re raises me. Now because he is a passive and i don't have many hands i don't know what this river mini raise means. I'm utterly confused on what he is reppin. I tried to quickly process how many hands I'm ahead and i decided it wasn't enough to call. Since he limps all his hands he could have AA or KK for all I know. Oh well.

UTG calls $0.10, MP1 calls $0.10, 4 folds, Hero checks

Flop: ($0.35) , , (3 players)

Life of A Microstakes Playa....

So I walk around thinking about poker all day everyday. Marginal spots i've put myself, how to play against x type of villain who does y, and all sorts of other random poker stuff. Not sure what this means but I figure it can be too bad. I tend to watch at least 1 video before I play "while taking notes" and then go and play. Gives me more confidence and I always feel smarter than the day before. I'm upbeat and positive about this poker thang. Just wish I had poker buddies to bounce ideas off. Oh well with due time.

LIFE: I play semi-pro football here in NYC. We had a first spring game this weekend against a team from upstate NY. So obviously they came in looking like a college team with 60 players, a full coaching staff, tents set up with tables full of gatorade, etc. On the other hand we looked like the badnews bears to say the least. The game was actually well contested. We went into 5 overtimes and lost 14 -8. I had 17 carries for 112yds but at one point was seeing cross eyed for 1 whole quarter..lol. This monday morning im very sore and I look like i got beat up. I have a cut on my nose and a big red bruise on my forehead with a busted lip to add. I thought helmets prevent this shet. Oh well I'll soon get my sexy back.hahah. Sidenote: Thank you Mr. Dow for dropping over 2% this morning. Good thing I had my shorts in place this morning after seeing the Automakers plans being rejected.

POKER: For now I will be focusing on beating up on full ring. At one point I thought I was Daut and was playing like 12 tables. It gave me a headache and I felt robotic so I slashed that immediately. The game seems pretty easy. My attempt to steal is pretty crazy and players seem to be very exploitable. It seems that the majority of the players are LAP"made up acroynm". Loose and Passive or just plain nits. I have begun to take a different thought process when looking at situations I find myself in. I use to post hands like If i have KK what do I do against a LP raise from the bb. The question should be if LP folds alot ot 3bets what should my range be for 3 betting. This helps you with a few things.
1. you think about the villain's range first
2. situations occur more than a single situation
3. since im thinking about the villain's range i can be a tad more creative

LEAKS: Being too Passive postflop especially on the turn, Not extracting enough value when I'm ahead of the villain's range, Always thinking when raised the villain is playing with the top of their range, bet sizing.

STATS: 18/16/2.27 AT 10NL FULL RING

Haven't played today yet. Will post interesting hands later tonite.

Life of a Microstakes Playa...

Soooo this is my first blog entry. I'm not sure how this works but I guess I'll start with my background. I'm 27 from Harlem, New York. New York stand up! Ok moving along. I'm 27 and I work from home investing day to day..ie daytrader. I went to school in Florida and was a career student for a bit, played sports, joined the reserves, got shipped to Iraq--goodtimes--but not for really and came back up home. I worked a bit on the street but quit because i hated being in an office 12-18 hrs a day.

On to poker. I started playing for fun like 3-4yrs ago, but up up until now never took the appropriate steps to improve my game. Of course I had all the 2+2 books but the concepts never fully stuck. I knew the basics so I could go to the avg $1/2 homegame and beat them up but that's not saying anything.
This year I have dedicated myself to moving up to $100nl buy the end of the year. So with that being said I have enlisted the services of a few coaches, I watch these CR video's everyday taking notes and I just try to get in as many hands as possible.

My goal is 1k hands a day. I have reached that 2 times this month so I'm slacking but I'm going to go hard to accomplish goal at least 4 out of the 7 days in a week. I play 10nl 6max and full ring.

My old computer crashed and died and took my stats with so I have a new database that's 1 1/2 weeks old..i think.I'm getting my azz handed to me in 6max. But the thing is I understand why and what I need to improve upon. I will use this blog to keep me honest with myself and to display my growth to the worldddddd!!!

6 max - 6121 - $(74.98) - (15.84)bb/100
full ring - 1244 - $45 - 36.17
