The Jim Rome show at my table

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin
0

Played at Hustler on Friday night. Was playing the 5-5 game as only one 5-10 game was running and was short handed.

The guy in the one seat had been playing with me for a few hours and was having a few beers. He was running his mouth at times but always in good spirits. He claims he was a comedian but I doubt it.

A guy sits down in the eight seat and after few hands me and him see a flop of JJ9. We both check. The turn is a 2 and we both check. The river is a 9 and he checks to me. I hollywood and then put in a big overbet. He calls it off and I show quad jacks.

He quickly calls for more chips and moves two seats to his left. He plays his next hand with the kid on my right in the hand. On the flop the chip runner came back with his chips and slid it to him. There was a pause in the action when this went down.

Kid: "Dealer who's the action on?"

Other guy (OG) "You know who it's on"

Kid: "I was asking the dealer not you"

OG: "SSHHHH!"

Kid: "Don't SHHHH me. Are you high!? Are you on meth. Take off your glasses and call me a faggot if your'e not."

OG: "OK! *rips off his glasses* FAGGOT!"

Kid: "Yeah, you would call me a faggot you fucking terrorist"

OK: "YOU ASKED ME TO CALL YOU A FAGGOT YOU IDIOT."

By now security had started towards out table. There was some other rambling between the two with the kid saying something "I can't play with this guy at the table".

I'm assuming they had known each other from previous sessions, but it was pretty weird / bizarre / hilarious at the same time. The whole situation reminded me of this Jim Rome classic.

As for the session itself, it started off brutal. I was in a bunch of hands during my first hour and raked in zero pots. I had bleed through 2/3rds of my stack and was debating re-adding. I opted not to until I won a fucking hand. I ended up picking up AQ flopped an A and tripled up after this one SAG regular paid me off with Kings.

The rest of the night was fairly question until me and this 40+ year old cougar battled when I was on the BTN and she was in the SB. I opened with 45s and she min 3bet me with KK. On the flop she leads out for 35 dollars into a 140 dollar pot. (The table was 5 handed at the time) I put in a huge reraise and she jams. I was basically committed to the pot and called it off being behind. I got there on the river which was nice. Get it in bad ftw!

More later.

Peace.

Sandy the degenerate is back?!?

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin

Cute the intro!: http://jeremyfirth.com/prradio/SandyIntro2.mp3

So apparently Sandy the Degenerate is back in the LA area.

Apparently this idiot landed a job working in LAX. He had applied there while he was at the house and needed to pass a background check. Considering his time in jail and multiple DUIs and the fact he had to take a drug test he never heard back but apparently he somehow landed the gig.

A friend of our roommates ran into him this weekend down in Hermosa Beach and apparently he was talking mad shit about us.

"Yea, those fucking losers kicked me out of the house. I would have gotten the money to them, I just needed 40 days to get it to them."

Yes, that's a real quote.

Hopefully he doesn't run into any of us, because he owes of some decent cash.

My unpopular view of Black Friday

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin
0

So I've bit my tounge long enough and feel the need to voice my take about Black Friday. (As if everyone hadn't already)

Look. It's simple. We got caught speeding and we're finally paying the price. The whole concept that poker is somehow legal is the US is a joke. If you were playing online within the US you were knowingly breaking the law. Just because people feel it should be legal or that a lot of people take apart in the action doesn't make it legal.

It's just like speeding. Most people go over the speed limit on the freeway (myself included) because we can. We know there are some consequences but a fairly low rate of actually being popped. I've always felt the same way about poker but never would have imagined every site gets popped in one day. Massive speed trap imo.

But some might say. Kevin, there's no law that says poker is illegal. I beg to differ. If it wasn't illegal why is there a push to legalize it in the US huh!? Ancient Chinesse riddle for yah there.

Look I feel terrible for all the players who lost their primary source of income because of this. Not working is fucking terrible and I went through it last year.

But everyone needs to be honest with themselves here. We were knowingly supporting a criminal organization that was violating US laws by accepting US payments. (UIEGA) There's no doubting this. Everyone just seemed to turn a blind eye to that fact. We're lucky that we're getting our money back.

Don't be pissed off at the goverment. They didn't ruin it for us.

The operators of the sites did.

Keep it real.

The end of Sandy the Degenerate (with pics!)

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin
0

Cute he intro!: http://jeremyfirth.com/prradio/SandyIntro2.mp3

So March had started and rent was due. Sandy was out of money. Nevermind that two weeks prior Sandy had promised he had his entire March rent ready and available. He claimed March was his make or break month. Well, it was broken even before it started. My roommates were mad and livid when they found out he didn't have the money. "I don't get why you guys are so mean he'd" he'd say. Eventually he coughed up 300 dollars cash for the first week of the month out of the 950 dollars he owed for the month and promised the pay the rest by the end of the week after he got cash wired to him.

During the week I left for work around 9:30am and noticed something odd. The front door was locked, which is usually my job to lock as I'm the last person out of the house and our garage door was closed. This never happens, ever.

I didn't think much of it but something didn't seem right. Later in the day I received an email that Sandy had been kicked outta the house and was asked not to come back. Suddenly the locked doors started to make sense. Then I asked myself, what if Sandy comes back to kill us all?

When I got back from work I asked what had happened and here's the tale I was told. One of my roommates woke up early in the morning and went into his walk in closet. (He's in the master bedroom). He noticed that his "water pipe" was missing. He became alarmed because his room had been locked the previous day. He immediately went down to Sandy's room and found the item in his room. He instantly challenged Sandy on how it got into his room. He responded with.

"ohhh yea man. I went all spider-monkey and jumped from the roof to get into your room from the balcony."

My roommate went ballistic. Another roomate heard the conversation and came in. Sandy was not in good shape. They immedately stated he broken the last straw and needed to get the fuck outta the house or he was going back to jail. Sandy apparently knew the end was coming because his bags were already packed.

So you might ask yourself. What does "went all spider-monkey" entail?

Good question!

Here's a picture of my roommates balcony that he leaped down into.

Yeah, that's a fairly small balcony. Notice all the pitfalls if her were somehow to miss the drop down. Yeah... Not good.

More importantly, what happens if the door was fucking locked!?

Here's another view of what he saw before dropping in.

Pretty fucking incredible.

Sandy would not be seen after the incident. Although we were worried for about a week or two that might randomly return to terrorize us.

Since Sandy only paid a portion of the rent, we were forced to eat the rest of his rent. He did have a deposit on hand but that deposit went to utilities which he hadn't paid up on.

Unfourtanetly our fears were somewhat right and Sandy did come back to terrorize us... No, he didn't show up back at the house but he did return in the shape of our gas bill. You see, due to the size of the house nobody is allowed to run the AC or Heat. If you need to warm or cool the place get your own individual method of doing so. It's cheaper in the long run. Sandy had one of the cooler rooms as it was on the bottom floor. Sandy only had limited sheets and sold his jackets on EBay to raise cash. So when a cold snap hit the area Sandy resorted to sleeping up in the living room below the fireplace which was gas powered. Sandy would apparently leave the fireplace on and use that as his heater.

Our gas bill for the month? 350 dollars (normally 50)

Fucking Sandy the Degenerate Fuck.

At the time of this post, we believe Sandy returned to the greater Chicago area to continue his quest to be the biggest degenerate loser of all time.

Let's hope this is the final chapter.

Hope you enjoyed the run.

Snowboarding!

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin
0

So last weekend and for part of this week I went snowboarding for the first time in four years. I hit-up Mammoth Mountain for the first time in probally seven years as well.

The last time I was on a snowboard, I was physically unable to snowboard in early 2007 at Breckenridge. A week earlier I was snowboarding at Big Bear on New Years Eve when on my last run of the day a dipshit ran into the back of me. I snapped backwards and landed hard on my tailbone and head. Luckily I was wearing a helmet and was saved from having a concussion but my tailbone didn't have the same fate. I was worried that the injury was going to affect my Colorado trip, but the pain and discomfort went away quickly. I didn't think much of it after that until I got to Breckenridge. I strapped in and headed down the slope for the day but found that I had zero strength in my lower legs once I was heading down the hill. Not fun a trip.

Obviously over the last few years in Chicago, going snowboarding was far from my list of things to do since I was always in cold weather.

Anyways, Mammoth was great. The crowds were thin and the conidtions were very favorable. Mammoth was still rocking a 20+ foot base. Yes, I said 20 foot base. Any rust from not snowboarding was worn off by my 3rd run of the first day I was there. Also being in the best shape of my life also helped, the high elevation didn't wear on me as much and I had tons of energy throughout the day. I wish I had another day on the mountain because I would have loved to spend a day working on jumps in the park. Speaking of which, I went through one of the terrain parks with my brother in the morning who's crazy good at boarding. He was hitting 20+ foot jumps in the park like it was nothing. Mammoth has some silly massive jumps setup in their parks. Obviously, those are way above my level. My brother only managed to hyper-extend his elbow on this trip and for him that's nothing.

To those that say pics or didn't happen. Here's a picture of the base at the top of mountain.

There was also a noticably higher number of skiiers on the mountain. This is a little surprising because Mammoth is perdominately a snowboard dominated mountain. However, i think the timing of the trip played a big role. There were a *ton* of children on the mountain and very few people in their 20s on the mountain. (It costs a shit-ton to take kids skiing!)

All in all, the trip worked out well. And yes, I did take a vacation during my second week of work.

Speaking of work, I'm heading to Austin tomorrow for work. It'll be the first time I've been in Texas in nearly 25 years. 25 years! Shit! I am excited to check out Austin and will be staying right in the heart of the city. Ideally, I'd prefer to be there on my own... but if work is paying for me to be there then it isn't the end of the world. At least I'm not being sent to North Dakota or something. (hi jeff!)

I'll write-up the Sandy the degenerate post on the plane and post it later this week. Sorry for slacking on this, been retarded busy the last few weeks.

The final Sandy blog post is delayed

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin

Yeah, sorry. I didn't get a chance to write it up over the weekend and with the new job this week I've been basically leaving my house at 8am and getting home at 9pm.

I'll write it up next week. I don't want to half ass this one because it's a good one.

As funny as this sounds, I'm going on vacation starting on Sunday and will be back on Wednesday. Didn't I just start a new job? Yes, yes I did. I had planned on taking two weeks off, but ended up starting earlier for a few reasons.

What's even crazier, I've gone 3 days of being in an office and never once logged in to troll the CR message boards. I don't think this has ever happened over the last 4 years. Shocking!

BBJ hit at my table at Commerce

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin
0

So I managed to make it out to Commerce for the first time in 3 months on Saturday night for a bit.

I was given a seat, then told I had to move and was moved to this table. I played a few hands was sat next to the biggest asshole at Commerce. This guy looks like a retarded Billy Bob Throton and complains non stop about everything. He's a reg at this game and I was already annoyed. Much to my surprise he left the table after a few minutes and this new guy sat down.

On the new guys second hand, this action went down. (He had bought in for 1500)

Button raises to 40.
New guy in the SB reraises to 85.
Button calls.
Flop is A 2 4
SB leads out (don't remmeber the dollars)
BTN calls
Turn is another A
SB leads out for 300.
BTN insta jams for 2000 by shipping in both of his racks. (see picture)
SB tanks
SB tanks
SB tanks
SB calls off his last 900ish
SB tables QQ
BTN tables AJo

River of course is the case A.

It took a few seconds for the hand to sink it. Then people realized it was a BBJ. The loser got 10,600 the other guy got 3600. The table share was 515 bucks each.

The one negative of the BBJ was that it took an hour for everyone to get their money. As a result the table got ULTRA nitty during that time as some people didn't want to play any hands until they got their cash. It was fairly amusing, because the buyin for this game is a grand.. but whatever.

I only played for two hours and left. I was tired when I got to Commerece and never caught a second wind. Considering I'm starting my new job on Monday I didn't want to try and push it.

Putting in my notice

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin
0

So on Monday I sent shockwaves through my work as I put in my two week notice. I've only been at my current job for eight months, and to be honest I was fairly content with the job..... However, once I started working in August, job offers seemed to start coming out of no where now that I was employed again. (It's really amazing how people are so judgemental against "the unemployed")

Anyways, one of my old bosses had been trying to poach me for months. I eventually caved in and explored the oppertunity. Ends up it was a much better deal than I could have imagined. (Big thank you to Facebook and Google for causing a talent war this summer!) I start my new job a week from Monday. I'll now be working in Santa Monica a few steps from the Santa Monica Pier. My commute will basically triple, but I'll deal with it for a few months.

This new job does put a wrench into my Vegas / WSOP plans but I'll deal with it. It's fairly unlikely I'll do a 9 day Vegas Poker bender for a 3rd straight year. Maybe just a few days this year. Who knows, it'll be a last minute deal.

In terms of poker, really haven't played. I wanted to go play Commerce last night but a bunch of friends were in the area and we went out to Hermosa Beach for some drunken shenanigans.

I've still been working out 5-6 times a week and the results are really starting to show. I've been constantly tinkering my work-out rouetine. I worked with a trainer / spotter and maxed out a 205 pounds on a bench press last week. (I gave him some poker tips) It was fairly impressive considering the most I had benched at any point in my life was 165 two days prior. I'll provide more details in another post. I'm waiting to get my body fat measured again so I can figure out how much actual muscle I've put on.

Not gonna lie, I'm really bummed I didn't do one of those tacky shirtless before and after pictures that all of those p90x kids do. Oh well.

Keep it real.

Sandy the degenerate gets a job!!!

Blog by : FakeSenatorKevin
0

Cute he intro!: http://jeremyfirth.com/prradio/SandyIntro2.mp3

So Sandy finally landed a job. The job was based in Santa Monica which is about 15 miles away to the north. I was excited given that he needed to take public transportation there it would really limit the hours he was in the house.

The job was at some job placement firm where they sold 'job placement services' to people looking for work. His job would be straight comission. I was a little skeptical so I googled this company and saw that the second result was a link to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) scorecard for the company. I clicked on the link and the company was rated an 'F' by the BBB. I was amused.

Sandy had great things to say and said he even maede a few sales on his first day. He had started on Wednesday. It looks like Sandy might actually be making rent after all.

On Friday morning I woke up late as usual and hurried downstairs to the kitchen at 9:30am... (I'm usually aiming to leave my house at 9am). Sandy was sitting at the kitchen island working on the laptop he borrows from another housemate because he was no laptop/computer. I was a little confused.

"Not working today?"

"Nope."

"Why that's?"

"They reorganized"

"So you got fired?"

"No no. They reorganized."

Fucking Sandy the degenate fuck. Only he could get fired on his second day on the job.
