Yawn

Last few days have been epitome of standard poker, just some short, small but winning sessions fortunately over the weekend. Even at 400nl, but up about 2.5 buyins at 600nl over 2300 hands.

Owned by some expert play in this reraised pot.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4493661

Nice hold with overpair.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4493667

Gift wrapped with a pretty bow, I'm unsure, is his play a bluff maybe?
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4493670

Yea I get owned by AK, KQ every once in a while, but the turn and river are such good bluff cards that's he's almost obligated to fire again even though I really don't know much about him.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4493679

Can't remember why I checked the flop but turn is standard, sometimes I'll bet like $12/snap call on river against certain weak opponents, but easy c/c here.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4493687

He can't get much more obvious with the line and timing, at least I only have to pay $54 on the river.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4493696

Button is the fish at the table and zero reads on the opener, so not sure if comes over the top light. Btn will also certainly call a 3bet with dominated hands but never folds any piece on a flop. Despite all that, can and prob should be three-betting anyway. I cannot remember the last time I've won aipf when backraising.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4493716

Didn't play all that much over the weekend, went out on the boat both days and got some sun. Watched a couple average movies "Knowing" and "Push." I'll give the slight edge to "Knowing" as it's got some good scenes, it's just hard to make good endings to those types of movies. Good luck at the tables.

Big Session

Blog by : ecu3270

So I got reamed right after my last blog update, mostly at 3/6, just one of those days where nothing seemed to go right and I played less than optimal. But I rebounded in a big way in about a four hour session last night where I had my most profitable cash game day ever as I played a mix with most of the hands and profit coming at 2/4.

On days I blog:

And on days where I don't (last night's session):

Pretty crazy but I just kept getting into great spots with bad players and hitting hands and getting paid, I expected to have run well over EV, but just $800 over expectation so it was more getting it in over and over with a ton of equity. Here's a few HHs from last night.

Mark on the table gets as coolered as you can when you play K6.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480248

Fairly standard here, sometimes I bet large in these river spots, sometimes really small, just depends on the situation and opponent.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480256

Easily the most lol hand of the night but I'll take it.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480261

Great example on how well I was running, I'm prob bluffing if I whiff the river a good amount but runners save me from getting owned by the slowplay.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480266

Line doesn't make a lot of sense from this semi-reg, obv not many 3s in his range and I'm not sure he'd play AQ, AJ this way, which I obv beat anyway, river wasn't too great but barring some random oop float with a SC that hits the flush or quads, I'm good.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480278

Same opponent then tilts away a stack to me literally the next hand.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480285

Not much to say other than the cards ran out perfect against a weak player in this spot, he actually tanked a bit on the river.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480286

I couldn't pick better hands to go against aipf x2.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480287

Biggest hand of the night, and I believe my largest pot played at 400nl. Villain wasn't all that terrible and I hadn't been playing that lag, but I had been pounding on him in particular without gaining a ton of ground, I was deep from others at the table. I was hoping for set over set, he had a tad more equity than that but I hold for a near 600bb pot.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4480319

Decided to take today off as I played a round of golf in the afternoon followed by the gym for a bit. Had a bison burger for dinner at Ham's Restaurant which was pretty good. I've been eating bison a lot lately as it has more protein than beef but less fat, calories and cholesterol than skinless chicken breast. You would never think that if you saw it or ate it, I think it's way better than a regular restaurant cheeseburger.

The only places I've seen them around my area are Ham's and Ted's Montana Grill (one of my favorite places to eat). You can order bison online, the steaks are expensive but I bet they are incredible, the burgers are reasonably priced though and I'll probably get some of those soon.

Try some bison if you haven't all ready and good luck at the tables.

Thanks and No Thanks FTP

Blog by : ecu3270

It seems that the 600nl are really filling up lately, prob in large part due to moving them to the midstakes tab, which I mentioned in the last blog. It's great as usually more 5/10 tables run than 3/6, but now not only are more running but they seem to be softer than in the past, just gives me more options.

On the downside, I had some good tables earlier today and FTP freaks out and I can't see my hole cards or any cards for that matter. The updates caused some lag issues for me earlier in the week, but this was something else entirely, hopefully it clears up next session.

I've still been playing a mix of 2/4 to 5/10 and I obv had my first losing session of the month after my last blog entry, if that happens again after this one, I might disappear again from updating.

I dropped about $1500 on Saturday afternoon but rebounded with some short decent sessions since then, here's a few HHs.

Just one of those dumb spots where you kinda expect it but what else do you do.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4471598

Haup coolers me here, I didn't have a good feeling about the hand just the way the action went down and the timing, but again what else are you supposed to do with top set on the flop.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4471606

Making a move here on the flop with my backdoors, the straight gets there on the turn and then the flush on the river, which I can have either plus a set, but he makes a thin turn call and hits w/ 25% equity, sucks because he's putting half his stack and folding river if no diamond hits and his K is no good. Prob make a mistake by just not betting big or shoving turn, I usually like to leave enough room on the river for a shove, I don't think I was deep enough here for it though, thought he could be good enough to fold with great odds as I'm bluffing 5% of the time on this river, but guess it's easy when you hold what I'm repping.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4471625

Frustrating hand against a fish, where he snap raises in position, which I'm treating as weakness the vast majority of the time from this player, the turn sucks as I think the 7 is a part of his range along with worse made hands and complete air. River just lol.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4471637

Decided to go ahead and get this in on the turn as it should look fos with all the draws but he binks the river.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4471645

Blah,
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4471652

My favorite fish are the ones that pot, pot, pot every street with air and check or bet near nothing with the nuts.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4471657

Hands like this always help.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4471667

So when FTP decides to go haywire on me and it's pouring down rain outside, here are a few sites I waste time on that can get addicting that most of you have already heard of.

goallineblitz.com
basically if you like fantasy football, this should be enjoyable as you create a player and sign with teams, build attributes and accumulate stats in games in well-developed and run leagues. You can also own teams, or be a GM. I'm not that into it, as I have just one player, a level 30 Free Safety "Boom LightsOut" who just got his first pick six last week.

oobgolf.com
A golf site where you can track your stats and follow your handicap and record anything you want about your rounds of golf over time. Also you can add friends and check out their scores, stats, etc. Kinda like a golf facebook.

wgt.com
Pretty sweet online golf game with no download necessary that you can play on real courses where they integrate photos from different angles all over the fairways and greens. You can also win real money and prizes, and play against friends.

Good luck at the tables.

I used to blog quite a bit as I think it helped with certain aspects of my game, mostly mentally and with discipline issues, as I've gotten more "mature" as a player, I don't think I needed it as much. That, and if you post a nice graph, the doomswitch flips on. It could be all the above, or just laziness.

It's probably the latter but maybe I'll pick it up a bit, no guarantees though. The summer has been uneventful, no trip to Vegas for me as I've seen all my peers head out west and have a great time. Maybe I'll make it one day.

I haven't had any classes this summer so basically my days consist of poker, working out and trying to improve my golf game. I'm still getting personal training and am comfortable with the more active, better diet lifestyle and I feel a million times better.

Golf is so similiar to poker and the frustrations that come along with it. I've tried to at least get to the course several times a week and it's helped, I'm now consistently in the mid 70s, I still haven't shot even par this summer, just a couple 73s. I'm not sure what it is mostly, I'm kind of in a rut scoring but it's putting that's the main issue. My swing feels good and consistent, I just can't gain confidence within 20 feet.

I haven't really gotten away much as I attended four weddings (was in two) over the last month or so. We do have a week vacation planned for Myrtle Beach in early August, which should be nice. We're getting a cottage and having some friends come and go as the week progresses and that should be a good time. Hopefully I can get to some of the courses down there.

---

Poker has improved recently, I had some average months at best in May and June, but I've had a nice start to July. I used to not like mixing limits, but you kind of have to playing higher than 400nl unless you have money at mulitple sites. I've been at FTP exclusively and playing 5/10 through 2/4 over the past few weeks. Basically I check out the 5/10 tables first and then 3/6, and filling in with 2/4 when needed. 600nl has been my favorite to play lately though. (I think the recent switch of 600nl to the midstakes tab should help)

In early June, I had sort of a failed experiment where I went for mass tables and hands to see how that worked out. I just played as many 2/4 tables as I could and long sessions (usually 12 tables or so). I won for a small winrate and think I could have stuck it out, but I got a bit burnt out playing that style and had to take a week off. I'm back in full swing now though.

Btw, FTP dropped the ball a bit with the latest update, I liked the changes just fine, I just couldn't play due to ridiculous lag issues for about three days straight. I think the software looks a tad better, people say it's faster, (more hands per hour is nice). No datamining is fine by me.

One big milestone for me is I'm now a 5/10 winner! Up a grand total of $400 at the limit lifetime now. I haven't played much of it since Feb. where I started very well, but went on about a 15k downswing. I played some Stars back then but haven't had money on there for a while now. Pot limit is still my nemesis at all limits. It's so ridiculous, the PL tables are usually softer (more so when they weren't grouped in with NL), but I always get owned playing them.

One things I wish CR would pick up on is some really good mid-high stakes content. I used to enjoy Raptor, CTS, Taylor, Townsend and the occassional vid from a random. I don't think I've watched a video in months other than a Nutedawg leakfinder here and there. They should ask some of us regs who to look into for content, as long as I've been at one site at virtually the same limit, I think I've figured out by now a nice handful of 400nl+ players that are pretty damn good, whether they can actually speak and verbalize their thought process is another question entirely. Leggo, DC, etc might have some stuff, idk, I've never really checked them out tbh.

Anyway, here's a few HHs from this month, along with my recent results/stats over the last six months or so. Plans are to keep doing what I'm doing, maybe I'll move some money to Stars and try 5/10 exclusively again and get a high stakes coach, but that might be down the road, we'll see how it goes. I'll also dedicate more time to coaching and hopefully blog and post a bit more.

Getting it in with a ton of equity at 5/10 against the same opponent in these two hands. Bet size on the flop is standard for me, prob wouldn't make that size as a bluff unless it's a against a competent regular.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4461153

I suppose I could be bet/3-betting with a big draw instead of a set, but he's never in good shape. Catch 22 if you're him bc this is happening a ton if he's raising in this spot, but he also might need to be prepared to call down some barrels, I still prefer calling in his shoes with position on the flop.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4461168

Great turn card for me in this big pot, main villain is a reg and the fish is sandwiched between. This deep I really don't see many hands I'm taking this strong line with, AK is pretty much a bluffcatcher in his shoes but I get fortunate and am able to take down a 400bb+ pot.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4461172

Not really sure of UMDs range here, maybe something like AQ, AJdd or a good draw that he wanted the other villain to stick around on, then that villain decides to get aggro on the turn when his equity diminishes.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4461357

Solid villain flats a big hand on the button and gets unlucky, but I'd rather raise something like a K73 flop or J64 if I'm him where I feel better about my hand strength and get looked up light and maybe get someone to spaz out since I can't rep as much.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?4461375

Pretty clear villain has 2x or a flush that fills up on the river, so I go for the CR AI, as he's bet/calling both, but prob folds 5x, 77 type hands to a river lead or might just call with 2x scared of the flush or call with the flush, scared of the boat.

Memorial Day Weekend

Blog by : ecu3270
0

My weekend turned out to be a memorable one as I had a nice short vacation at the beach for my friend's bachelor fishing trip. We left Thursday night for the Outer Banks and visited the worst Hooters ever probably to watch the Hurricanes game (I'm no hockey fan but everyone else there was). And there happened to be a table full of Penguins' fans right beside us, there was some shit talking but they obviously got the better of us, except I didn't really care.

It turned out to be seven of us and we stayed at a cottage in Kitty Hawk and didn't get to sleep until after 12 midnight which would be fine except we needed to be up by 4:30 the next morning to get to the boat on time. But we made it and after a two-hour boat drive out of Nags Head, we put some bait out and started fishing in the Gulf Stream. I slept the entire ride out there so I was ready to go but a couple of guys were out of it and feeling seasick.

It took an hour or so but we ran into a nice school of dolphin at about 9 am and pulled four or five up. We couldn't have asked for a better day as it was warm and partly cloudy. We ran cold until about lunch time but we reeled in some fish off and on until about 4 pm when we headed in. In all, we lost about as many fish as we got in the boat but pulled in 12 dolphin and two tuna, and I was able to land three of the dolphin and a tuna. The dolphin weren't too tough, although it was sick seeing them jump out of the water as they stayed close to the surface. The tuna dived down deep and mine was a battle to get in. My friend Ben, who is the one getting married, had a huge tuna that he got close to the boat twice but he eventually snapped the leader which was disappointing after about a 30 minute fight. Our captain estimated him to be about 45-50 pounds. Other than the fishing we spotted a bunch of dolphin (the Flipper kind) here and there along with a pilot whale and a sailfish that got some hang time out of the water.

After getting to the marina, we cleaned our catch and grilled it out later that night and it was delicious, something cool about catching, cleaning and cooking your fish all in the same day. Next day was just relaxing on the beach, playing some putt-putt, etc. We went out that night to Kelly's and there was a sick cover band that did an awesome job. Sunday was much of the same. I'll post some pics of the fishing a bit later.

Poker has been uninteresting / non-exsistent lately, mostly due to lack of hands played. I'll still doing well and running at over 11 bb/100 over 12k hands at 400nl. Here's a few hands from last week.

All pot odds, turn bet could have bigger, river still would have been quite an overshove so I bet a bit smaller in hopes of getting two calls or keeping the fish around with a flush draw. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4279257

I like three-betting unknowns or players I think are probably weak early in a session to see they react to different things (in position that is) and I get myself in a weird spot here but things work out well. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4279266

I love getting min 3-bet when I have position. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4279269

Reg that is usually pretty decent, think he's a in a downswing though which sucks, but gets me a stack here. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4279273

Que? http://www.pokerhand.org/?4279276

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4279311

This hand sucked, had trouble putting him on a set, thought a turned two pair or pair + SD was more likely, prob should have flatted preflop as well. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4279316

I'm planning on playing hardcore this week before heading out for more wedding stuff on Saturday, although today wasn't a good start as I played golf and went to the pool afterwards. I'm really getting into golf and thankfully my friends in Greenville are as well, I just bought the new TaylorMade R9 which I hit terrible today. Golf is so funny, I think I'm so close, but then I'm so far away the next day. Anyway, good luck at the tables.

Nathan hanging out as we leave the marina at 5:30 am.

Fish on.

Poor bird gets his wing wrapped around a fishing line, but we reel him in and set him free and Butter can't handle the beer / sea.

Tuna kicking Ben's ass.

The long ride home, I'm on the far right.

A few of the sick fishing boats at Pirate's Cove, ours was a bit smaller.

Our catch.

Some Poker

Blog by : ecu3270
0

I've put up some solid results so far in May, picking up pretty much where I left off in April, it's funny how in poker we take things in months, especially in winnings and kind of refocus or change things up at the end of months. April 30 is no different from May 1, but it certainly feels that way for me, I'm even worse than normal because moving up through the limits I always waited until the next month to make the jump.

Anyway, I'm up around 13 buyins at 400nl over about 8500 hands, it was a steady grind earlier in the month, but I've ran pretty hot the past few sessions. Here's a few hands from the last two days.

Hand against the mark at the table, this reminds me of someone's avatar where some cowboy (John Wayne prob) is saying LOL . . . AK, I knew it. Villain said he knew it after the hand, he's too good for me I guess. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4230820

More run hot here, my plan was to raise some good turns after floating flop which I mix in against donk leads from weak players along with raising the flop some. Usually donk leads are weak so I just make a bet to induce but luckily he had a hand this time. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4230827

This guy was ready to lose his mind after losing the previous hand and it looked like he reloaded to the rest of his account balance, but I don't feel too bad about it. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4230845

Nice hold in a three-way all in. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4230858

Early in a session against a reg and I'm able to get it in with a ton of equity in a 3bet pot. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4230860

Little different line against a reg, going for a checkraise on the flop to look a bit more like whiffed overs with a heart or something, doesn't work but guess he got mixed up and I get a good board texture to overshove river and I'm looked up light. http://www.pokerhand.org/?4230866

It's hard to find cool hands that aren't standard because they are usually is smaller pots and in reality, don't happen all that often, I prob need to write notes during sessions or something and find those nonstandard lines or some CiB plays or whatever jazz in reraised pots.

---

Working out is going well also, and I decided to do one more month of personal training, I'll prob switch it up after that and go out on my own for a while. He runs a speed and agility group session which I will start soon and that will be good for flag football and what not over the summer and next year. When I started about 1.5 months ago, I was 200 and 20.5% body fat and I'm at 189 and 15.4% right now, I don't really have any goals, I just want to keep on doing it as I look and feel a lot better.

I've been getting into "The Wire" hardcore recently as I've always heard it was one of the best shows and I needed another one to get into, plus I like plowing through episodes on DVD rather than wait week to week, I'm just wrapping up Season 1 and it has been as good as advertised. Right up there with "Lost" which is having its season finale tonight. Guess I'm going to catch that and then play some more poker, good luck at the tables.

April Results

Blog by : ecu3270

With April wrapped up, I can finally move on to a more carefree May and the beginning of summer. I had a good month pokerwise even though I didn't even crack 20k hands and didn't really play any at all over the last week with exams going on. Fortunately all that is finished and with no school going on for the next 3-4 months, I can concentrate on grinding out hands and coaching.

I really want to move back up to 5/10 again sometime this summer but my main goals are to get things set financially outside of poker, and I'm sure that might take a little time, but I think it will be worth it in the long run. I finished with two As this semester which was clutch, considering I take classes online and usually cram half the semester of studying into the one week before exams.

We've taken the boat out several times and I had a friend down from Raleigh earlier in the week, the sound was like glass and wakeboarding was pretty sweet. I'm also getting back into golf again, I have trouble getting people to get out to the course with me but I've been a few times lately, even driving up to Raleigh to play and I'm improving. Ball striking is coming around nice and putting has been solid, but short game def needs some work. My friend I've been playing with swears by "The Short Game Bible" by Dave Peltz, I think it's called, I'm going to pick it up this weekend as it has def made his game sick from 100 yards and in.

Anyway on to results and I will def start to post more hands, blog entries, etc. as my days will be more poker oriented for the forseeable future. I will be busy with a million weddings this summer as I'm in two of them, but hopefully that means some cool trips and parties, right now I have plans to go deep sea fishing for one bachelor get together and maybe Vegas for a few days for another one. Good luck at the tables and I will actually be on them this weekend for the first time in a while.

Monthly Update

Blog by : ecu3270
0

I have been very slack lately with the blog updates, I'll try to pick it up a bit over the summer though as I should have much more free time on my hands. Things have been going well on and off the tables, I've had some really good results in April after a tough Feb. and March and maybe that will continue for quite a while.

School is about over, I think I will be shipping As in both classes but it will be close and dependent on my finals. Intramurals are also wrapping up and all our teams are making deep runs once again. I'm only playing 4-on-4 flag football and softball but I think we're still in everything, including co-rec sports and stuff like kickball. The championship for 4-on-4 is tomorrow night, and on paper we are the favorites, just can't go out and not show up though.

We have cruised through the playoffs other than one epic comeback. We were down 18-0 at halftime and down 18-7 with about four minutes to go. But one of our guys jumps a route and gets a pick on the sidelines. We score a few plays later to make it 18-13. The other team wastes all the time they can but we eventually get a turnover on downs with 11 seconds left at their own 5 (no punts in 4-on-4). Very next play two receivers run slants and I run a corner off their picks and am wide open in the back. The ball is just floating and luckily I don't pull a Jackie Martin (infamous Cowboys tight end) and we win the game 19-18. The softball semis are right after the finals and unfortunately on paper, we are not the favorites.

I did just make a big purchase last week and bought a 2009 Toyota Tundra. It's black with an extended cab, 4x4, offroad package and some sweet added features. I definitely needed it for the summer to pull the boat and the Mustang I had was getting up there in miles. It took about four hours of negotiating but I think I came out pretty well. I can't find a camera right now but I'll get some pics of that with the boat soon enough. The weather is getting awesome and I'm ready to get on the water. There will be nothing but poker and wakeboarding and maybe some golf all summer as I have no classes to take and I don't really work part-time anymore.

My personal training sessions are going good, I'm feeling a ton better already and much faster out on the intramural fields. When we first started three weeks ago, I was at 200 lbs. with 20% body fat and so far I'm down to 189 lbs and 16% body fat. I've still got some work to do, not really trying to lose anymore weight, now it's about lean muscle. I don't think I've been under 190 since junior year of high school and I was up to 215 at one point a few years ago.

Everything has been standard pokerwise, I've put in about 18k hands, I'm going to start shooting for 40k in May. I've played predominately 400nl and have just been playing well and table selecting and running decent. I'll put up some hands/results next time. Good luck at the tables.

Die Bears

Blog by : ecu3270

So you Chicago guys got your man, disappointing for me as a Redskins fan. I didn't really want him at first but reading the rumor mill, I was starting to get partial to the idea of him wearing burgundy and gold. But I like Campbell so he gets one more year to impress me. Thing is quarterbacks don't come around that often and if Campbell doesn't pan out, I'm sure both he and Zorn are gone. I'm expecting big things though (I say this every year). At least Washington gives me false hope before destroying my dreams. We'll keep our picks and I'm hoping we go with LB where we are really thin, DE is a need but I think we have a committee that can get it done. OT is what we're projected to take, but I think Jansen/Heyer provides more than the committee we have at OLB, which is no one with starting experience.

Workouts have been going well, I've stuck with it and I just got back from a second personal training session that was pretty intense, I have the next one scheduled for Saturday morning at 7:30 am which is going to be brutal considering I usually wake up at 10am ish. But come summer time, I should be sick nasty, also planning on joining the speed and agility class he runs for some of the local athletes.

Today was crappy outside as I was planning on playing some golf, I went on Monday for the first time in a while and actually struck the ball pretty well, at least enough for me to want to work on it some more. Tomorrow should be much nicer and I'm planning on cleaning the boat up real good and taking it out in the afternoon. A bit too cold to start wakeboarding but that's fast approaching.

Summer should be a ton of fun with nothing but hanging out, poker and wakeboarding with friends. Fortunately no classes were available for my MBA this summer save one, and that wasn't offered online so I'm taking it in the fall instead.

Poker is going well in April, I'm up about 2k so far and won a $2,400 pot earlier today at 2/4, I think that's my largest at 400nl, it involved a weaker player that I've sat with a few times in the past couple days. He minraised UTG, BTN calls, I flat in SB with 32cc and BB calls. Everyone else is a reg or tagfish and all over 200bbs deep.

Flop is J87ccc, and I lead $28 into $32, BB flats, fish makes it $140. Then the BTN just flats wtf?, and I decide just to call and then BB folds. I check a blank turn, fish mashes pot for $495, then BTN folds so after he's gone, I feel much better about my hand, maybe he mucked a set, only thing I can think of other than AJ with a club or something. Anyway I stick the rest in and the fish turns over 10 9o, no club and is drawing dead. That was most of the day's profit.

Maybe some poker later tonight, have to watch Lost that I missed last night and either Seven Pounds or Slumdog Millionaire which I rented today. I have a feeling I'm going to be disappointed with Slumdog after all the hype up here and everywhere else about it, but we'll see. Good luck at the tables.

Life Update

It's been over a month since I've last blogged, so there's quite a few updates that's been going on.

Poker has been pretty meh the last few months. I played 5/10 for the majority of February, kind of slacked off towards the end. It didn't go too bad. With taxes approaching quickly I was hoping to run well and play well at the start of moving up. Just didn't really happen the way I wanted it to go.

I've never had to move back down at any level before but I can't say I did terrible or anything. I played pretty well, ran pretty bad and when it was all done, I lost just 4 buyins overall. I would have stuck with it but unfortunately had to withdraw a bit more than anticipated for taxes. So not really a failed shot or anything, just disappointing because I was having fun at a new limit and thought I could develop into a solid winner pretty quickly.

I actually made the biggest winner list on Stars for the month (near the bottom obv) but FTP, not so much. I wanted to finish out the month strong but had to focus on some midterms.

So then March comes and I'm ready to win back that money I withdrew and then some. Not so fast my friend. i don't think I played too well the first few weeks but I am back on track now and playing some good poker. Too bad I'm up a grand total of $100 or something. Rakeback whore this month I guess. Prob a combo of disrespecting the money too much after having daily swings of $5k and just lack of focus.

Otherwise, things are going well. I crushed my midterms and am in line for two As if I finish strong. Softball and 4-on-4 flag football is in full swing and we have contending teams in both.

I also got a personal trainer/nutrionist, I met him several years ago through business and he trains a lot of ECU and area athletes in the offseason. Been to the gym 3 or 4 times and first session is Tuesday. I figure it's just like getting a poker coach to get things rolling in the right direction. I'll spare you the daily diet details, I think that's pretty much covered up here by others.

Back to the grind in April, weather is getting great around here, actually had a tornado touchdown and do some damage about 2 miles from my house the other day. Hope the last two months have been better for everyone pokerwise, good luck at the tables.
