I think psychology plays a very important part in playing poker. If you don't have the right mindset to the game you can get in trouble. It's important to understand how the game operates, how chance works and evens out in the long run. Always pay attention to how you win or lose. Then you avoid believing you are bad when you are unlucky and unlucky when you are bad. It's important to realise when you played a hand fine even though you lost, like when you fold after putting some money in the pot because you realise you are beat. Like with an overpair for instance. For me personally, psychology is the biggest weakness in my game. No matter how succesfull i am, if I have an unsuccesfull session, not matter how short, I start to wonder if i'm even good. This is a big problem for me and I need to improve my understanding of chance as much as possible. Normally when I play a game and I lose, it's easy to pinpoint why I lost (In quakeworld, for instance) But in poker it's sometimes unclear and I think it's very important to realise why you win or lose. If you always think you are unlucky you might keep making the same mistakes, and if you always think you are playing bad, you keep changing an otherwise sound strategy. Keep this in mind.
