reality check

Ok so i recently did one of the smartest things ive done all year, which is drop my normal game from 2-4 to 1-2. I had been losing all month at 2-4 but I figured it was just because I was running bad. Wrong! I may have been running bad, but the fact of the matter is whether I like it or not, I really don't have any edge in those games. As soon as I dropped to 1-2 I realized how much i was missing. To say that the play in these games is bad would be an enormous understatement. The play is absolutley horrendous. Aside from a handful of solid regs that play decent lag or tag style, everyone is fair game. These people have absolutley no concept of what a line even resembles. if you check to them on the river, there is a good chance they will stab it at regardless of their action on previous streets. Not only that, but most of these people play so scared that they never get value out of their big hands, even in cooler situations. My goal at the beggining of this month was to make anywhere from 400-600 dollars a day playing 2-4, not including rakeback. When you add in rakeback, this would make for a very profitable year. With all the losing days at 2-4 this month, that goal seemed like a far cry from reality. Now that I am at 1-2, I feel like I will not only be able to reach it with ease but that I may even be able to make more than 600 a day. WHo knows, but these games are fcking amazing!

CTAD

Blog by : dank3
0

ok so i realize i have problem. And so does my doctor. heres what he had to say.

Many poker players, even successful ones, are afflicted by Chronic Time Acceleration Disorder (CTAD). CTAD is a disorder that affects a persons ability to comprehend time and how much time has passed in relation to certain activities. It is also commonly seen in gamers who have been known to play Warcraft for days straight with little to no sleep or eating. In the case of poker it is particularly damaging because it makes it impossible for a player to completely understand and appreciate the amount of time they have put in at the tables. This in turn affects their appreciation for the money they have won (or in many cases lost) at those tables. All players need a break in order to stay sharp and keep their mind clear. CTAD has two known causes and thus two types. Type-1 CTAD is caused by a simple gambling addiction. Most players who suffer from Type-1 CTAD are losing players who could benefit from some form of therapy. Type-2 CTAD is caused by rapid success over a brief period of time coupled with a strong desire to move up in limits from micro to mid or mid to high. Fortunately, Mr. Jaffe you suffer from Type-2 CTAD. While this is not a grave diagnosis it is a serious one that requires your immediate attention.

Your Chronic Time Acceleration Disorder (CTAD) was identified by the follwing symptoms:
- playing poker from 12am to 6 am exclusively
- playing 5000nl with a 30k bankroll
- fixation on earning FPPs
- you have become almost entirely nocturnal
- you have forgotten that you were broke 5 months ago

There are a number of treatments available in order to combat your illness. Many people have chosen Gamblers Anonymous but we have found that the people most successful in that program never return to the tables. For you I believe a two week break from all poker related activities would be a great start. Following the two weeks it is important that you set up a strict schedule for playing that includes at least two days per week away from the tables with a maximum for 4 hours per day of playing time. It is imperative that you adhere to this schedule for at least six weeks.

Please check back with me once a week so I can monitor your progress and help you get back to where you belong at the tables.
