So after years of playing live online and not really having much to show for it but a bunch of stories I am taking my game to the next level. After watching Zach Morris (Crazyzachary) win his first tourney all the way to #3 on Doyles 10 has sparked me to redevelop my game. I am a programmer/web designer and great with math but my lack of discipline on the table has kept me from moving up in the poker world. Most people think poker is a fairy tale to be a "pro" at this game. I am on a mission to not only be a winning player but compete with the other winning players in higher tables. I have seen it done and know with the right mindset I will achieve this goal. Although a huge climb it's a numbers game like most everything else. However thinking that if you continue to produce numbers will return positive results is the distorted view of this game. Reading books and magazine articles will only get you so far and having all the info in the world isn't a good thing if you can use it the right way in the right situation. Watching Zach play is meticulous and oddly not a surprise how he plays. I think the key is discipline and repetition and over time you will spike and have pit falls but the climb should be consistent if you can continue your game plan.
My game plan over the years was all over the place. Limping the majority of hands with the mind set that no one would be able to read what I had was my biggest mistake. Other mistakes were bet sizes, out of position balls out betting, calling cause I couldn't let it go, re-raising out of position to try and steal... the list is so long that its no wonder I haven't moved up in my game. Playing tourneys vs cash games is diff but the mindset should be the same. Play your game and be meticulous.
I will use this blog as a source of journal and will post videos if allowed of my attempt to redevelop my game. I will prevail but in how much time?
