Long session

Blog by : d94ccm
0

Ok so got home early from work today so i thought i would put in a longish session compared to recent standards. Played for about 2 1/2 hours. Started well began to grind out the chips as has become the norm over the last few sessions.

First big decision came with AK again. i raised and got min three bet. Was oop so i decided just to call and see what happend on the flop. I hit tptk with the A and raised, the villan pushed all in i called, he had AA. I lost a buy in again. Is this a leak in my game with AK? Would it be a weak play to raise call and then raise and fold to a rr? It's something i need to search some advice on. I made one other bad call with 88 when i thought i read that the villan had missed the board. when he called the flop i should have given it up but found it difficult and lost half a BI.

The rest of the session went well, stacked a player with an over pair KK when he had to pair with KJ loose player so i did not credit his check raise on the flop for a set.

Stacked a player hen i hit a set of three's and he had top pair to, so ended the session up by one BI so happy. Still a few situations to work out but its coming!

Chilled

Blog by : d94ccm

Wow, now i'm not going to get carried away! i know better than that. I think the variance is just being good to me. I'm not winning loads but i feel so chilled. Like after my second session i just dont feel like going on tilt. I had a few more tricky positions than i have had before but i will post again and get some feed back. I have had some good feedback so far and it is helping to sure up my knowledge.

Finished the session up 75BB/100

It's not going to buy me a house at this level but i gotta start somewhere.

Second session

Blog by : d94ccm

So my second session after subscribing to CR and i must admit i feel really relaxed after the session. No signs of tilt or rushing to try and make money. Happy to fold when i have to and i do feel in control of the table. Still some areas where i'm not sure at times but have posted on the forum to get some advice even though i'm sure it is pretty basic stuff. Ended up 25.00 BB/100 for the session so was happy with that after losing my buy in last night.

May consider playing two tables after a weeks worth of sessions as i did find it very slow at times even with 6max.

1st session following video

Blog by : d94ccm
0

Ok so i have decided to begin right at the bottom, even if i'm covering old ground there is no harm in re learning things which i actually have probably forgotten over time.

I watched the first video of the five part series on low stakes cash games, have set myself a BR of 30 BI and am starting at the .05-.1 level.

I basically just tried to adhear to the starting hand requirements and then tried to play post flop in a solid way. I have set my self a 45 mintute limit on sessions. With a 15 mintue review of hands after. At the moment i am just playing one table but as i improve (hopefully) i may start playing a second table.

I felt i had a good session. Raise all hands that i played, won quite a few PF and a few i had to fold due to draw heavy boards. I ended up losing my BI due to a silly call (i got stacked) which is one of my bad habits that i want to get rid of. hopefully my review of it now will force home the fact that i wont make the mistake again!

Anyway here are three hands that might be interesting to some of you. Any advice would be great.

Seat 5: germanicus99 button folded on the Flop - Net Gain/Loss: ($0)
Seat 6: nono2mars small blind folded on the Flop - Net Gain/Loss: ($-0.05)

Ok so i won that hand but i an aware of some mistakes i probably made.

Firstly i called on the flop for the following reasons:

I felt he was weak due to the bet but was still worried by an over pair. I probably shoulr have RR to test him out.

Following the weak turn bet i was sure i was ahead but was worried by a check raise fold scenario.

Committed myself to a check call to the showdown so long as bets were not to big.

Ok So reviewing this i feel i probably got out played on this hand. Following the check on the flop i felt he did not have the ten or an over pair or he would have bet out to defend the flush draw. When he called and checked the turn i did not bet incase he had bottom pair which turned in to a set. Although looking back him having a 3 is very unlikely. When he fires on the turn i guess he has two pair ace high. Should i have bet the turn just under the pot? I think he probably had A-J, A-Q, A-K.

Any way i was fairly happy with my play untill this blunder! I know the RR was the correct play, no? but i should never have called the all in. This is where my bad habit got the best of me.

Ok so ive known about cardrunners for quite sometime. Until now i have never decided to take the plunge and join. I have been playing poker on and off for probably about 18-24 months. i have progressed from being a pretty bad player to the tightening up stage where you only play the usual big card high pairs and suited connectors. Learnt to play with position and the general mechanics associated with pot odds etc. Learnt about bluffing on the button and reading players bets depending on the board, ie and draw available etc, but only pretty basic stuff. I have won one low stakes MTT on line and finished second in another. Won a number of sit and go's along with having some success in cash games. I am a more accomplished Hold em player but after flirting with Omaha feel i can become a good player at that possibly in the future as i understand it's differences compared to hold em. I have made most money playing in a really poor standard live cash game ($.5-1) down a local pool hall. All i used to do was sit and wait and play premium hands. If i could limp (Lots of family pots) i would do this occasionally, hit the nuts and take a huge pot. But there were some half decent players who realised how tight i played and began to bluff me. I keep folding for about 6 months and everyone had the idea that if i ever called or raised they were in trouble. (Some players could still not fold to me). After six months i loosened up a bit and began calling some big bets on the end with second pair or top pair weak kicker because i began to read the live game well and knew when i was ahead. Within 10 days i took nearly $800 dollars out of that game. The problem has now become that instead of being that TAG player i once was i have been playing in better games and playing really badly! i can no longer fold TPTK. If someone i know who is a bad player calls without the odds to hit a straight or flush and hits it, i still pay them off , even though i know they have hit it, because i can't believe they have made a bad call on the flop. My biggest problem is i don't know when to stop playing, usually get tired make a bad decision go on tilt and lose. When ever i play, i am generally always up after an hour. Some times by two buy-ins, However after 5 hours sometimes i lose it all. I hope CR can teach me some discipline. I love poker but because of a few bad weeks i realise i need to reassess my game hopefully cardrunners will help me to get back on track and allow me to develop my game and hopefully become a winning player again. I'm going to watch the 5 series low limit cash game series and start my journey from there. Yours in Poker D94ccm
