Summer Time Reflections

0

Hey guys,

Been a long time since an update of this blog. Unfortunately it's going to be a little longer still before I post a meaningful blog - this one's just a filler. I have a rule that if I'm ever up at 4am and nobody's online to talk to, I write a blog. I'm never sure if I have anything interesting or relevant to commit to the virtual paper, but I just start writing and find out.

I've been pretty negligent of this blog mostly because I've been super busy. I've had exams, I've had projects, I've had forms to fill out, house hunting to be carried out... I have to say, house hunting is probably the most frustrating thing I've ever been involved in. I can see why it would stay interesting if I was living in a house for more than a few months, but last summer I spent about 50 hours over months browsing websites and mailing potential landlords, and this summer I've had the forms filled out and the place sewn up TWO TIMES only for the deal to fall through. If you're buying a house to live in for 40 years then this hassle is obviously dwarfed by the importance of the task, but when you just want a house for six weeks... there must be an easier way.

I'm flying to Vegas, via Chicago, next Thursday. The weathers been terrific in Ireland, which has tempered my desperation to leave somewhat. I'm still very excited to arrive and get stuff sorted though. Still a few questions marks which will hopefully be ironed out early on, and I have to get into Dublinand buy some shorts - even though the casinos are ACed up and breezy, the 8 second commute from our front door to the car will probably be enough to have me on my death bed if I'm forced to wear anything from my Autumn catalogue. Once get settled in I'm excited to play some poker , hang about the Rio, get one of those long souvenir drinks, all that good stuff.

I've a lot to reflect on, so hopefully I will find some time to relax over summer, take it all in and write a longer blog. I finished college for good last week, a degree that has taken up every week day of mine for the last four years. It's a pretty huge thing to take in, and while I'm coming to terms with the idea that I've no projects or exams in the near future to worry about, I don't think it's fully dawned on me yet that I won't be returning to school in three short months time. As of yet I have no plans past August, but again I have some time to get away for it all and plan my next move. There are some interesting options on the table, and I'm sure people will be hearing all about them over the summer months.

Below a pic of myself and some of my class, at our end of term party (hopefully CR have fixed pics on blogs)

I haven't been playing a huge amount of poker due to exams and assignments. I effectively quit from April 1st - May 20th, and getting back playing has been tough. The Zoom game is certainly everything I could have asked for from Pokerstars, so cudos to them. I have a vague plan to sneak in 10-12k hands in the next 5 days, and to try post some in the micros forums, just to make sure I am sharp for June 1st. I will try to post any interesting live hands over summer, or some bankroll ups and downs or whatever people want. I'm terrible at writing about poker stuffs, but I will make an extra effort... one time a bracelet!

I have a little spare time at the end of my trip to Vegas, about 6 days, and I'm not entirely sure what to do with it. If I feel like it, I could just get a hotel room in Vegas and hang out there a few extra nights, try to blow any money I've made. Alternatively I could visit a friend from home in LA, thewillofd in LA, some friends from Dublin in Chicago - perhaps a megamix of all these things. Megamix really makes it sound like it's going to be a fabulous six days no matter what I do, so I'm leaning towards that at this exact moment.

Anyhow, I'm gonna get some rest as I've a big day planned for tomorrow. Here's hoping the weather holds out until I leave... and I guess beyond for all my pasty friends who aren't going to live in the middle of the fucking desert.

Good luck at the tables for anyone who's playing,
Crash
