Self-Inflicted Tilt Punishment

Blog by : citizenwind
0

Though I've been playing very well at $1/2, I tilted my face off at $100 the other night. So, for the rest of the week, I'm banned from $100 or above. That'll show you, tilt-monkey Alvin. Back to the corner with you.

Thankfully, I'm in Orlando, so much poker wasn't going to be played anyway.

Also, cinnamon toast crunch is the shit. That is all.

Some notes from my Rush database report

Blog by : citizenwind
0

So I've got a fairly large database of rush hands between 100-200nl, and combined, I found some interesting results:

1) If I run report for Min Hand:1000, VPIP: 0-20, I get 71 regulars , down -$6854 over 109k hands, which is -4.33bb/100. So in my database, over a short sample, the average of regulars shows a clearly losing trend.

2) If I run report for Min Hand: 500, VPIP: 0-17, I get 232 players, down -$7416 over 214k hands, which is -2.29. So in my database, over a bigger sample but less clarity over the "regularness" of the players, it still shows a general losing trend. Many of these players are simply not beating the rake.

3) If I run report for Min Hand: 500, VPIP: 0-10, I get 34 players, down -$2963 over 34k hands, which is -7.18bb/100. (WHOA! A TON of money is coming from these nits!)

4) If I run report for Min Hand: 500, VPIP: 10-13, I get 90 players, down -$1499 over 80k hands, which is -1.17. So most tight regulars are slight losers to the rake.

5) If I run report for Min Hand: 500, VPIP: 13-17, I get 108 players, down -$2952 over 100k hands, which is -1.52. So are the slightly looser regulars showing a clear advantage over their nittier counterparts? Doesn't look to be the case.

Interesting.

Sorry for Being an E-mail Failure

Blog by : citizenwind

So I've got a backlog of like 500 starred emails to sort through, so if I've been missing your notes or slow in responding, my deepest apologies. Please do not take it personally! I've been insanely busy lately, in the process of moving to NYC, working on a lot of projects including two books, a screenplay, a website, an album, AND I've had multiple computers die on me in the last week... though it is NO EXCUSE FOR MY UNPROFESSIONALISM! Forgiverness prease!!!!

If you are currently a student of mine and have taken a lesson within a month and you email me the word MANGO in the subject line, I'll let you sweat me playing your limit for an hour, for free.

Of course, if I'm skipping over emails, maybe having people e-mail me for free ish is really a level.

20k Rush Milestone

Blog by : citizenwind

Not that big a deal, but in the past few days I broke the $20k mark in $50 and $100nl rush. It took about 250 hours, 300k hands, and I made about $3900 in rakeback.

Wheeeeeeee.

A Student's Run-bad

Blog by : citizenwind
0

like whoa

This is one of my student's graphs. I'm not posting it to shit on my student, but to show that the long-run is very, very long. This is a 870k+ sample where, by the end of it, said student is running a whopping 62bis below expectation. Now, I've seen graphs where people have run 40-100bis below EV ... at my worst I've been close to -45, but then eventually the boomswitch kicked in.

If you can run -70bis below EV over long samples. , that means somewhere there are slight loser or breakeven players who are making tons of money. Think about it. Let's say you're a very slight loser at 2/4. Over a lot of hands, you can be up $20-28k. Let's say you're a very slight loser across the board, but you were aggressive and took big shots at 5/10 or even 10/20. I had one student who made 80k in a month playing 25/50, quit his job to play professionally, and lost almost all of it in a few month ... he came to me to help him beat $100nl! The fact is, luck plays a huge, huge role in our games, and I think we undervalue how important running good is, even over long stretches.

So good luck! You'll need it.
