Back to grinding

Well as they say "all good things must come to an end," and that is exactly what happened to January. It was not a productive month at all poker wise but that was basically cause I was only home for 2 days the entire month. Lot of traveling including our trip to Rome and Paris. Had a great time there and this trip definitely made me change my mind on the food in Italy to a very positive thing. I will post some pics tomorrow if I can get around to it.

I also spent a week in Dallas looking for places to move into probably in March. If anyone from the Dallas area has recommendations for where to stay please feel free to PM me or leave a comment. I have looked at a couple places downtown, a couple places in highland park, and a few places in Las Colinas. I could live anywhere west of White Rock Lake up to Las Colinas. I will be working in Colleyville/Southlake so there will be a bit of travel no matter where I end up.

Now onto some poker related things. I am essentially going to spend this month playing poker and focus on nothing else (I may make a trip to NY for the weekend) and it's pretty exciting. For the first time in my life, I have nothing else to worry about that'll take my mind away from poker, as school did in the past, and I'm hoping to turn out a really good month. That's all for now, I will update every so often with results. Gl @ the tables to everyone!

Rome and Paris tomorrow

Blog by : chardukian

Well the next trip in my busy month takes me to Rome and then Paris. I leave tomorrow morning (assuming there are no delays out of MKE) and will be in Rome for 4 days and then travel to Paris for 3 days with my girlfriend. If anyone wants to meet up that lives out there let me know. I will try and check my PM's once I land tomorrow.

Have a great week everyone and good luck at the tables.

Traveling a lot

Blog by : chardukian

This month as I mentioned in my last post is nonstop travel for me. Currently I am on my 3rd day of a road trip to Arkansas from Madison, WI. Stayed in St. Louis last night and had a pretty good time and drove to Harrison, AR today to get things from my grandma's house and have started the drive back home.

Tonight I'm staying in Branson, MO and just got back from dinner and a little shopping. Picked up a new Nike jacket and the biggest bottle of Acqua di gio I have ever seen for pretty cheap. I think it's a 6.oz bottle and it was only $90. Tomorrow morning I think I'm gonna shop around the riverfront a little and then head back to St. Louis and visit the Arch and then stay the night and finish the trip off on Thursday.

Then I am heading off to Rome and Paris next week. I posted in the forums for ideas on what to do in Paris, but I know some people don't look in the forums, so if you have any recommendations please leave a comment or PM me. Thanks everyone.

All I want for graduation/Christmas...

Blog by : chardukian

is the damn cake that chipsahoya raves about. I missed my opportunity to get it yesterday in the CR tournament as I got eliminated pretty early and didn't pay attention enough to realize it was a rebuy. Obviously I'm not a tournament player at all. So hopefully Santa is paying attention and will bring me the cake as a special gift :)

Anyhow, I graduate in a week and then a month of basically nonstop travel. In that month I will be heading to
1. Milwaukee for Christmas with the family and New Years
2. Arkansas with my grandma
3. Rome, surprised my girlfriend with a trip to Europe for a graduation gift. So we will be hitting up Rome and the next two places on the list
4. Paris.
5. London
6. Dallas, I want to find a place to move to and sign something before February ideally. If not before February, I will probably move in March.
7. Back home to Milwaukee.
8. Possibly a trip to Vegas with a couple of friends.
9. Weekend trip to NYC to visit one of my best friends who just got a job out there. I'm really excited for this trip because I haven't been to NY since I was 13.

So that is basically the next month and a half in a nutshell for me. Hopefully all is going well at the tables and in life for everyone. Later.

Been a long time

Blog by : chardukian

Hey everyone, it's been a really long time since I have blogged at all but I have been extremely busy the last few months. So a quick recap... I spent the summer in Dallas again this year working at schroederorthodontics.com and had another very successful time down there. I took care of some marketing and internal programs as well as some of the technical things while I was there. I flew back to Madison to move to my new place in mid August and everything went smoothly and have managed to make my place look pretty nice. I have a 2 bedroom place but I use 1 of the bedrooms as a computer/work room. I also bought a new 30" monitor and recently bought a new tv to mount above the monitor so that I can watch some sports while I grind. I haven't been playing a lot lately, but when I have, the results have been really good. I've played quite a bit of rush and also moved a bunch of money over to PS (after the FTP black card update, since it cut my rakeback quite a bit). I have been extremely tied up with schoolwork this semester as I graduate from UW-Madison in 2 weeks. I had to take 18 credits this semester to finish up but I figured it would be worth the struggle to finish a semester sooner.

After graduation I will be extremely busy for a month because I have a trip to Arkansas planned, a trip to Dallas and a trip to Rome and Paris with my girlfriend (I surprised her with this as a graduation gift). That's all in January and then I have to move out of where I'm at now and I think I'm going to look into the Dallas area for a place to move into. I really prefer the weather there compared to what I'm dealing with now. Well hopefully everyone is doing well and I just wanted to write up a quick post while I had some time. See you guys at the tables.

Monitor resolution help

Blog by : chardukian
0

I got my Dell 3007WFP-HC today and am working on setting it up right now. I am having difficulty tho because it seems like I cannot get better than 1280x768 resolution on it. Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong? When I connect the monitor to any other resolution I get scanning lines going horizontally down the monitor, including at 2560x1600.

For more information, I have a ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro graphics card which does support dual link DVI and supports resolutions up to 2560x1600 as the primary monitor. So I really don't know what else I could be doing wrong. Any advice or help would be great. Thanks.

Catching up and help with monitor upgrade

Blog by : chardukian

Well last month was pretty much dead pokerwise for me. I think I played less than 15k hands the entire month. I spent a lot of time with some friends and my girlfriend once school got done and basically spent the first half of the month preparing and studying for my finals. However, results were actually pretty good for the month in the hands that I did play. I won a little over 15bb/100. I had my first session of the month today and won about 2 buyins in 900 hands so thats a nice start.

Currently I am down in Dallas working at an orthodontic practice and enjoying it so far. I did the same thing last summer and had a great time and decided to come back down. I am looking to get a larger monitor for some stuff down here as well as to play poker on, so if anyone has any recommendation on larger monitors 27'-30' please leave me a comment. It's hard to find information on the larger monitors and it's almost been impossible to find them anywhere other than online. If you know where I can actually see the monitors in person (like dell store or something similar) before I buy them, please leave a comment.

Finally Done with school and a disturbing story.

Blog by : chardukian

Just for the summer tho. I have one more semester before I graduate. This semester was pretty difficult for me as I took a number of advanced courses in economics. Any math or econ major here will tell you that you always feel dumber than the grade you receive for the class. For example in my calculus 2 course here (it is the most failed and dropped class on campus), I got a 48% in the course overall and that was good enough for a B. Same thing in econ. I remember one exam for example where as long as you got above 10% you didn't fail it, thanks to the curve.

Today I had my last final for the semester and it was for a literature course I took on the Italian Renaissance. It was an essay exam. Little background information on the exam....Even if you were given the essays beforehand and could write exactly what you wanted and just had to copy word for word during the exam hours, it would take you over an hour to finish. So, on to today...my professor had ben walking in and out for the first half hour or so during the exam, about 25 minutes into the exam, a girl stands up and turns her exam in. I was wondering "how the hell did she finish that fast."

So she hands the exam to the professor and walks out. The professor leaves for about 3 minutes and comes back and asks "if any of us know Bridgette, the girl who just handed in her exam." Nobody does (its a class of 25) and that was it.....for about 2 minutes. Then the professor starts crying and looks up and says "if any of you know anything about Bridgette can you please say something. She just turned in her exam and didn't answer any questions. She wrote a suicide note and said she was on her way to kill herself now."

After this everyone in the class is a little bit distracted and talking about it afterwards. Good news at least was that our professor sent us an email about 2 hours after the exam saying that the university police had found her and she was ok and that her parents were coming to pick her up. That was pretty relieving.

So since I am done with school, I finally played my first session since May 2nd. That was my longest break in about 8 months. It was nice to take a little break and now I feel rejuvenated to play. I played a little over 900 hands and won about 4.5 buy ins. So nice to book a win in the first session after a break. I am going to be playing quite a bit the next 2.5 weeks before I head to Dallas for the summer.

I'm also considering doing a weight loss prop bet. I am wondering what people think about it so please comment and let me know how difficult you think it would be to get this bet going. First I am about 5ft 10in and currently am in the worst shape of my life. I weight about 185 right now. I am going to try and lose 30 pounds in 30 days without any help from laxatives or diet pill crap. I used to be a competitive runner, but my knee has given me too many problems in the past 2 years to really run more than a mile ever without needing to stop. I did play volleyball 3 days a week this semester and I think that has helped my knee so I may or may not be able to run again. I would also consider doing a timed mile prop bet as well if there is any interest.

I'm not doing this bet to win money (because I'm not all that confident I could actually lose that much weight in that short a time period) but I really am getting upset with how out of shape I feel and I can use this as motivation to start getting back into shape.

Anyone with thought please feel free to weigh in.

Taking it easy the past week

Blog by : chardukian

This past week or so has been really laid back poker wise mainly because of school work and I had put in a pretty decent amount of volume over the past 3 months playing every single day. It has been nice, even though I really do not enjoy studying school related things one bit.

I'll probably take the next week off as well because I have a 10 page paper to write for one of my classes and 4 finals in the next 6 days. I will start grinding a lot once the summer starts though and probably look to get in around 2k-3k hands per day for the first couple weeks until I start working at my orthodontic intern. Other than that, life has been pretty laid back for me and I have been enjoying the last week of relaxing and hanging out with my friends and roommates. Hope everyone had a better April than I did. Money wise I lost, but I won at about 3.5 bb/100 over the month. Just had that one pretty significant losing day playing .5/1 against a massive fish.

Gl at the tables everyone.

Also if any of Mike's students would be interested in organizing a sweat session let me know. My name on skype is acechardukian.
