This is just crazy. I mean come on already. how can this just keep happening. This is the worst beat I have taken in a long time. Its just so crazy. I think mhy account is cursed. How is it every time I am dominating favorite they hit some crazy runner runner.

I have taken a look at some of the hands you posted in the last blog entry and you definetly need to step your game back a bit. You are playing marginal hands recklessly. I want you to think before each bet "what am I trying to acomplish with this bet. Am I getting value or bluffing?

Now lets look at some hands....

the first hand you raise JQ and hit top pair and bet 3 streets on a drawy bd. I think you played this hand ok except the river. Not a big fan of the cold call preflop. You should probably be rasing or folding, but it not that bad. I don't know the player, but if he is limping small pairs I think isolating is better here. Betting the flop is standard. I definetly bet the turn here, since the turn put a lot of draws out there. I am probably check calling the river. At this point why did you bet? I dont think you are getting called by worse unless this player is aweful. Only better hands are calling. But, if you check call you eliminate the chance of being checked raised and also get worse hands to bluff.

Next hand I think you played terrible. Very -EV. you raised KJ off which is fine. You hit top pair and bet , which is standard. Then the turn makes the bd 4d kd 6c Ah. WHY would you ever just shove $76 into a $27 pot. Seriously this is a gaping hole in your game. you just essentially gave away 2/5 of a buyin. Think your bets through. what are you accomplishing with this bet. The only way this bet is for value is if you think he has a straight or flush draw that does not contain an ace. again unless he is a really bad player he should not be calling a 2.5x pot bet with these types of hands. I am definetly checking this turn and most likely folding to a raise. It is a tough spot and many hands have you beat . Even a normal size bet fold here is ok as he should only be continuing with hands that have you beat, BUT NEVER AN OPEN SHOVE!

Next hand you have Ac4c and call a utg min raise from utg +1, I don't like your call here as your ace will usually be dominated, and you cant call a squeeze if raised. You are basically only playing for 2 pr +. But anyway you end up in a 5 way pot and hit the nut flush draw. someone leds for 12 and gets flatted on the turn, you then essentially shoveyour flush draw and backdoor straight. Well..... I again dont like your play here, but it is not as bad as the others. Its a tough spot since it is the type of fop you are looking for when you play the suited ace, but the pot is still 5 ways and again if someone is calling you will be only drawing to the flush most of the time. 1010+ should have raised preflop, so unless he has 99 or some type of worse draw/top pair(usually with a straight draw) your ace will be no good. You put yourself in a tough spot post flop and I think at that point you can either flat or just fold, I don't like the shove. But to be fair the guy who called you made a terrible call and should have folded to you, but he also only had to call $43 to win a $139.00 pot so he probably wasnt folding too often.

The last hand that you call a cold deck a pretty standard hand. I dont know why he flatted queens, and that made the hand tricky for you I undertsand. But lets review. Riase preflop standard. He donks flop (ughhhh) This is rough because he could have a set hes trying to protect, a flush draw, made flush (we cant put him on this yet) or some type of straight/flush draw combo. But I am a nit and am immediatly trying to control the size of this pot as I know I can find more profitable spots later on. I think I am just check calling 3 streets here, but your raise on the flop seems fine as it will help protect your hand here, but what if he shoves. I am not comfortable getting in in here as even if he is jst drawing to the ace of diamonds he has 11 outs and isn't a big dog to your jacks. This is why I prefer to just call.

Anyway I don't want to discourage you I want you to tell yourself the truth. Some of these hands are kind of bad beats, but none were terrible (except the kk vs. QQ that was in the ne post) and you could have saved between 150-250 dollars between these hands had you played more carefuuly. The best winning plays can maxamize wins will minimizing loses and the minimizing loses is the part that kills most players. I also understand how you are feeling right now, because I am having a major overhall in my game. I ran a $200.00 bankroll up to $14,000.00 and thought I was just the greatest player, had some tough beats, followed abruptly by playing badly, blaming luck, moving to higher limits (I saw the last hand w/ kk was at 2-4 and the other was at 1-2, be careful stay w/in your bankroll) Now my bankroll is down to about 9,000.00 and I have decided to drop all the way down 50NL to regain my confidence. It has been going well too as I am playing more so to try to win and less to try to win money (its always nice though)

Anyways, be true to yourself, don't blame luck because you cannot change luck, you can only change the way you play. Look over pokertracker hands at a random time inbetween sessions so you can evaluate your play trthfully, use pokerstove and the replayer to check percentages and see if some of those beats were really as bad as you initially thought. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you start running better, but in the mean time be sure you are playing your best even when you are running bad

It is so crazy bad

I just cannot understand why I run so bad. Every time I have a hand someone has a better hand or lucks and donks there way to a better hand. I swear FTP defies all statistics with the cards that are dealt. Everey table every session I see or am involved in AK vs. AA, top pair vs. a set (this happened between me and the same player 2 times within three hands!!!) what are the odds of this? It feels so rigged or just like a rake machine.

I mean how many times in a session can you be a huge favorite only to loose the pot? I can understand a few pots but this is getting crazy wrong.

It is getting very frustrating. I have tightened up same results, I have played more agressive loose same results. nothing goes right anymore at all ever. It is so sick. I will not even get into the PLO hands from the last few days. I ran some hands through calculators I had 4 hands where I was over a 90% fav going to river only to loose to someone who should have never been in the pot.

I watch tons of videos on here learn a ton use it at tables and get luck boxed to more loosing sessions.

NL cold PLO a little better

I have not posted anthing in a while. I still cannot get over some of the hands I run into on a daily basis. Its very sick that all the cold decks and suck outs is just variance. When does it turn around. Its like FTP set my account for mental pain of suck out every big hand. I get dealt AA get it in preflop against KK King on flop.

FTP tourney of donks. Flop set of kings get called by pair of tens he sucks out to runner runner flush. This is probably the sickest beat I have taken in a long time. That is saying a ton since every session of NL I play I get the amazing suck out against me.

Someone tell me how this was not such the worst donk play and FTP paying off bad bad bad play. At very worst he should put me on AK.

I have gone to PLO for a change. I have been running good. The suck outs do not hurt as much and I seem to be playing very well and solid and am up two buyins in teh last two days.

Going to stay with PLO for a few days I think. I will make a bigger post with more hands later this week.

Its just so SICK

I have been playing very well lately and been on a decent upswing. But it is unreal it just always just turns so fast and I get just destroyed hand after hand. People call me with nothing and suck out. I do not know how to combat against this. I run into pocket aces more then any human alive and everytime with jj or qq i run into ak or a5 or whatever and boom there is the ace.

I raise he reraises me I call. He reraises with 23 offsuit? are you kidding me!! And full Tilt gives him a full house on turn to say way to go with your 23. I mean this is wrong. I may have to stop playing at full tilt. this is just so bad and the odds of this happening over and over is so far fetched its sick.

I welcome all comments about how you combat against this. In my opinionits more then variance how can this continue to happen.

Why ME?????

I am so frustrated. I study the game, make solid plays. Get my money in way in the lead. And boom they hit two outer on river. It never seems to stop. Pocket jacks against AK. Ace on the flop or the river. AJ against pocket kings. I make two pair on turn King on river. I do not think I could be more unlucky period. It is so sick I cannot take it. I do not know how to turn it aorund. Here are the examples.

This hand makes me sick. He calls my turn bet allin. He gets so lucky on the river. Hitting a two outer. There is flush draw overpair, and straight on board I am betting every street have super tight image and he is calling me down its just so sick. Full tilt always rewards bad paly against me.

I have not posted in a few days. I ran good for a few days, nothing great but atleast wining some money. So far today I have dumped 830.00 on the tables aprox. AK running into pocket aces. Top pair running into pocket kings. It is just so sick how bad I run.

I cannot figure out how to turn this around. I am always getting out sucked always gettting rivered. It just never stops.

Running Better, Playing Smarter

I have ben very busy and have not been able to post. I have played a ton of hands and have been much better. I watch one video every morning after the gym. I think it is helping so much. I am reading hands and thinking about the game much better. I am going to continue grinding and may take a shot moving up in the next couple of weeks. here are some of the more interesting hands from the past couple of days.

I think we both played this hand well. we were both going to get it in on some street. I just got outdrawn. I do not think there was much I could have done with this hand I was going down no matter what once the heart hit on river.

Got lucky after the flop here since the guy had a string draw. I do not like his preflop play. I was playing tight and I reraised. I did not put him on AQ.

I was shocked here. Guy called me with 29 offsuit. Very crazy play. I knew he had no ace and juts thought I was far ahead which I was. Big Donkey Play here.

This was a real bad beat. set over set and was on wrong side. What I take away from this hand is that I did not get tilted and I rebounded to have a winning session at this table. Very proud of this part of my game.

Here I just had the guy dominated and it held up. Nothing to exciting just a good position for me.

I am very happy with the improvement in my game. The first hand I posted above was the last hand I planned to play in my morning session. It stung a little because I lost to a flush and just wish I had stoppped one hand earlier HAHA. I hope to improve my win rate a little and increase my profits. Everytime I start to get on a run I loose one or two pots or get a bluff picked off and I end up dropping some of my session winnings like today. Overall though I am happy with my game right now.

UP AND DOWN ENDED ABOUT EVEN

I played about 2 hours of nl 1/2 this morning and ended up about even, up a couple of bucks. I think I played pretty solid today. I got down a couple of buyins and then rallied to get back to even. Again I am porud of my lack of tilting and staying focused as I played. I am for sure seeing an improvment in my play. I still feel I am getting a little unlucky in some pots, but I do not feel it is as bad as it was last week. here are some of the hands that stick out.

This hand I really played bad. I thought I played it okay until I went over it again. I played it way to strong and should have folded to his raise. It will not happen again. I guess I should have put them on a wider range since he was on button.

I got paid off when this guy mad top pair with a bad kicker. He just refused to fold. Good result for me, weak play by him.

A post would not be complete without a pair of kings getting sucked out on by Ax. Cannot fault his call but just got some bad luck going for me.

Anyways much happier with my play. I am reading better, bluffing better and running a little better. Plan on probably reviewing my results again later. I will be back at the tables on Tuesday.

I am very busy at work the rest of the day and my wife has family in town. I guess that means out to dinner, lots of talking about nothing and a boring night with no poker. I hope I can keep on the upswing and atleast keep playing well. The videos on here have really helped my game. I am limiting my losses a ton. Also I feel I need to loosen up a little with my play. I am not sure if i am playing tight because of situations, cards or what need to think about it and look at my stats.

Finally an upswing, with a catch

Went back to just grinding nl 1/2 this morning. It started out like all of June and end of May has been. Full Tilt paying off very bad play. I cannot get over how many people make very bad plays at nl 1/2 and get paid off. Of course they leave soon after. It is just amazing to me how my luck factor has been very low lately.

Here are a few of the hands I am talking about.

He raises under the gun with j10 I reraise and he calls. I just was shocked he called. I guess I may have been able to slow down with my aces but just never thought he had a ten I put him on AK, J's etc. never thought he would call with such a weak hand.

In this hadn the guy had been playing so crazy its unreal. He went allin after the flop I knew he was very weak and he hits the river. Again rewarding bad play. I guess there is an argument I should have never been in the pot, but I read him right got my money in as dominating favorite and of course it ends badly.

In these two hands I got the pleasure of running K's into Ax twice and having an ace fall on turn. Just bad luck again going against me.

Here the guy calls me with Jack high I do not know what he was thinking. I am just glad Full Tilt did not figure out a way to let the guy suck out on me.

This hand came up two hands later. Unreal that he would get all his money in with second pair. I did not have a loose image my numbers were like 17/9 at this table very loose call that again he did not get paid off.

This hand I would love some feedback on. I threw away aces when he basically put me all in on the river. I just felt he had me beat. I felt maybe a queen. I am not sure though if I was just spooked because of how things have been going lately. I do not even think I have ever laid down Aces in that position ever. He bet double the pot too which I am nit sure how to interpet. Would love some opinions on whether it was a good lay down or not. I just could not put him on a hand I could beat. The more I think about it I like my lay down. But I would still like some input.

Overall I was pretty happy with my play. I did not get tilted after how my session started today. In the past I probably would have tilted especially after the last four days. It was nice to fininsh today up a couple of buy ins. I forgot what it felt like to finish a winner. My numbers would have been great if the Kings would have held up atleast once. I ran some great continuation bets, and bluffs when scare cards hit the board. I am really looking forward to getting on a good run and moving up in the limits. I am hoping that playing against better competition will eliminate some of the crazy sucks outs.

Thought I had turned the corner....But

Well PLO was going so bad I decided to head back to the NL tables.

I was running good making some solid plays and got lucky when this guy over played his top pair.

I knew he was very marginal. He had been re popping me a ton and very thin I knew it. I thought he had 8's or 7's. This is how bad I run.

This guy had A's 5 hands earlier so I never thought he had it again. So sick I have been running so bad.

I do not mean to just sho these hands. But it seems that I am on a bad downturn and all my hands seem to be running into bigger draws that suck out.

Here I thought I had a good spot to bluff. Well the guy refused to fold 3's on a board with a K. Whatever probably should not have done it but it felt like a good spot in game. Kind of shocked he called thinking his hand was good but what else to say. Any feedback on this would be nice. I thought he should have folded.

Anyways hope this turns around soon. I keep studying my play attempting to play tighter and looser nothing seems to work. Hope this turns soon. Back to the video archives to learn more.
