Yo Rip,

I am trying to get better at poker but I manage a plastics company which requires me to work around 45+ hours a week (I know, complete overload)! Any reccomendations on how often to play or scheduling? Should I just play whenever I feel like it or set an alarm clock next to my monitor and play like 1 hour a day?

ive got 3 questions.

1. If you could be a character from lord of the rings who would you be and why?

2. If someone loses their virginty with a hooker, does it for all purposes still count?

3. Are electric/battery tootbrushes really that much better than manual tooth brushes or have the 9 out of 10 dentists that reccomend them been given healthy bribes to sway their vote and in turn convince us all out teeth will dissolve in our heads if we dont get one?

I play poker for fun, but I have aspirations of one day actually making a steady income off of it (probably as a 2nd income). I started playing semi-seriously about a year and a half ago - meaning I read some books, talked hands with people, got a CR membership, and started trying to learn the right way to play.

To make a long story short I am up or down less than $1k, I'm not really sure, as my record keeping is very poor.

My downfall has always been making a minimal deposit a few hundred dollars or so - running it up to 10X's that amount - then going on tilt or playing over my head and taking a bad beat or making a bad bluff and losing most of it, and then cashing out my $100 profit or $100 loss. Degen problem here. The reason this happens, is because I don't care a lot about this point about making $1k or losing $1k - obviously the expected emotions for both are there - but there is no thought of cashing out.

Based on the amount of money I'm investing into the hobby, being up a grand or two should be very exciting...but it's just not. I have a leak, and my leak is that everytime i sit at a poker table - my goal is to go on a run, continue to move up, and make enough money to retire, or buy a new car, or house or whatever. You get the point.

Basically I need some help or tips on keeping my mindset longterm and not in the now, as I'm fairly confident with good game selection, a stop loss in mind, and a strategy for cashing out would allow me to realize my goal of making a second income off of the game.

To add to the below post, I understand without limits, bankroll, etc. It's not really possible for you to say this is what you should do or shouldn't do - basically I'm just asking for some tips on your thought process and mindset as you started out and moved through the ranks if you can think of anything that might be helpful in my current situation.

Poker question. I've seen you playing 6 handed 25/50 a lot in the last month or so. I noticed you shoving some lower pairs pre like 66 55 etc. I was just wondering if this is part of your game if you have a read where you think your ahead or have fold equity or if maybe it was just something you do to certain opponents you know? If it is not the latter can you explain why this is a profitable play?
