Passion

Since the beginning of the baseball season I've noticed myself less passionate about sports. My favorite teams are the White Sox, Bears, and Bulls. I think I might have watched 4 total baseball games this year. I never watched one game all the way through. I was really excited for the Bears season to start. I had high hopes for them coming off a Super Bowl appearence last year. Any loss or bad play last year really got me fired up and I took it way too seriously. However, this year I could really care less about the Bears. I have been trying to figure out where this lack of passion has come from. I've been asking myself this question for the past few months and I think I might have a partial explanation.

Basketball is far and above my favorite sport. I grew up playing basketball and watching the Bulls win all of those championships in the 1990's. Last night the Bulls opened up the regular season against the New Jersey Nets. I was more into that game than any sporting event prior to last years Bulls playoff run. I was clapping when someone made a good play and punching anything in sight when someone made a bad play. I realized that maybe I have lost some passion for other sports but basketball will always be the sport that I love the most. I think that as I am getting older I feel less connected to baseball and football. Oh well, as long as I have one season to look forward to. GO BULLS!

I decided that I should start a blog last night. I am not sure why or if I will even keep up with it but I think it will be fun to do.

This weekend started off like most do, Friday I just hung out and went to bed at a reasonable time. I really like doing that on Fridays, I wake up Saturday morning at 9:30 and I'm full of energy and have a full day to get stuff done. To be honest, I usually get one thing done and plan on doing the rest on Sunday but that never works out.

Saturday I woke up and played some poker, ate Great American Bagel and just hung out. I went to Walmart and Sports Authority to get some stuff for my costume. Our group organized ourselves to go to Craig's place to change and then drive down to Jim's place in the city. Of course we were delayed by the females, who take longer to get ready. Can you really blame them? It's in their jeans.

We got down to Jim's and we went up to his apartment to drop off our sleeping gear. We dropped off our stuff and went down to get some cabs to go to the bar. An old limo pulled up and said we could just take that for $20. It was a good deal considering there were 6 of us and two cabs would have been significantly more. We got to the bar, High Tops, and we paid our $40 for the drink package which was from 9PM-1AM. We camped out at the bar to start drinking knowing that it was going to get way more crowded and therefore tougher to get drinks as the night went on. I have to say that I was feeling the energy in the place right from the outset. I luckily wore my dancing shoes as well (regular gym shoe's I wore with my Kirk Hinrich costume). Kyle's girlfriend, I forgot her name, was REALLY digging my dance moves. Too bad Kyle, one of my best friends, was hanging around all night. I'll probably be able to get with her next time. I was pretty hammered by midnight and I'm pretty sure I stopped drinking soon after. One thing I'm pretty good about is cutting myself off when I feel like I'm getting close to my alcohol limit. We had a little bit of drama go down later in the night, just foolish drunken decisions. I made one poor decision to note. Craig and I were standing in line for the bathroom and there were these two dorks in front of us. We were having a conversation about something when I noticed that we have been standing in the same spot for like 5 minutes and nobody had come in or out of the bathroom. I got really fired up for some reason and started yelling at the two guys in front of us. Craig grabbed my shirt and pulled me back. I then proceeded to punch a wall. It really hurt the next day. It feels fine now though, just a couple of cuts on my knuckles. We left the bar a little bit after 2AM and went to get something to eat.

Craig woke us up at 8AM the next morning and was being really loud and obnoxious (asshole). I went home and just sat around and watched football for a while and was just lazy in general.

Nothing much else is going on. Hope you enjoyed.
