Heading out to Cali

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

Well its almost time to leave for California. Think I will play some DoN's then head out to the airport. Once in Cali, gonna meet my old biz partner for dinner, then head out to the hotel, set up my computer and play poker, watch some tv, then in the a.m its off to training. Its not like I need to know how to do my job, but its their computer system that I have to learn. I cant believe that they want me to train for 3 weeks. One in Cali and then 2 in Minn. Thats a joke and a waste of time. Well, I will chat with you guys once I get there. cya

OMG...I Got A Real Freakin Job ..Gulp

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

WOW.........Life changes, and just in the nick of time. I got this powerful job contracting myself out to help in the mortgage mess. Some of you know that I have been a mortgage underwriter for close to thirty years now. I havent worked a day in almost 2 years (unless you count making a few phone calls a couple of hours a day for your moms collection co.)
I have been concentrating on poker, both online and live (living in vegas) telling every one I am semi retired
So things have gotten really tight for us. I have taken close a to 40% pay cut since last Jan, and thats really making it tough. I lost my miniscule live BR, so pretty much just pay online these days. So my job is out of state, they pay me 35.00 a day, every day for food regardless is I spend it or not. I get a huge hourly wage, along with mandatory overtime (close to a min of 20 hours a week) . They pay the rental car, gas, hotel and airfare. I only get to come home one weekend out of 3. Luckily its in California, and less than 8 or 9 hours drive from Vegas if need be, or I can fly home for a weekend on my own if I chose to pay for it. It makes it easier for the wife to come visit me too

I am working for one of the major 3 banks in the world, and what started as a possible 3-6 month job is now for a minimum of a year. I might be able to save close 30thousand or so over the next year, which will be a great beginning for a new bankroll LOL.

My online plans go like this. I will play a min of 20-40 sngs every nite after work, then a bunch more on the weekends. I am still trying to make a 20 BI for the next level. We'll see how it goes, cya

Drift.......Drift.........Drifting Away

Blog by : bluandbrneyes
0

Its been 2 weeks since I have been in a cash game. Since that time I am glad to say after playing 699 sit n go's since 2/15 I am up 139.85
Alittle break down here is warranted, but before that lets talk alittle about me drifting all over the fucking place. I started out with a plan for the double or nothings, I won, but not as much as I wanted to.
I drifted around abit and discovered that I was killing the 45 man sng's. Then tried the 18 man, which turned out a small loser.

I then discovered a little BR mgmt system which is really powerful, along with getting Phils book on SNG's.
I got carried away with the normal turbo sngs and starting posting hands from losses on the bubble in the forum. This gave me a handle on what was wrong.

Hence, I am back at the double or nothings and after all the 699 turbos in the last 2 weeks, I came to my senses. I had a super hot streak last nite and learned alot about my play, villains play, and the core of the double or nothings.

The core is dont play a hand until you have too, you will win by folding, the double or nothing sng's breaks all the rules that you know for a normal sng. That being said I ran 22 winners out of 25, which is a huge confidence builder, and I did it by folding..................

I now will continue my Sit n Go challenge of winning 20 buy ins. Starting at 5.20, and winning 216.00 which is 20 buy ins into the next level. Currents 5.20 stats as follows

403 DoN tournies since 2/15
ROI 6.4%
ITM 55.3%
$ won 134.40
35.4 hours
3.80 and hour
.33 cents per game

One Way Or Another................

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

Saw Blondie with Deborh Harry last nite, out in bumfuk (Primm) What a great show, I guess most of the seats were filled wth old fogies (older than me) on free seats. We have a thing here in vegas called Houseseats.com which for 49.95yr which entitles you to get free show tickets for locals, must have ID.
So far we have seen Al Stewart, Blondie, and Barry Manilow. There have been more, we have not been fast enuff to get them. Anyways, a great show, but short.

I've been reading Phil's sng book. One of the things/plays he talks about (late stages) is shoving any 2 cards on the BB when you are the small blind. My bad.............its been killing me. I even posted in the forums and discovered how bad I play the bubble. I seem to make the bubble alot, but my threshhold for crossing it is poor. I have tightened up and seen a very good crossover rate. So I will continue to tighten up in that spot for now on. Sometimes the consensus is to become agressive on the bubble. I think that the other players are still poor players, so in fact conservatism is the way to go. Lets see if my stats improve, any bets?

Reversal Of Fortune

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

Okay, had a great Sunday, and a horrible Monday. I gave back all my winnings from Sunday on Monday. I even hit my stop loss yesterday, as it turned out, it was my last set that did me in.
22 times I made it to the bubble (out of 45 games) and made the money in 13 out of 22 bubbles. I dont think that is very good. Here are my shitty numbers from the day.

36 3.40's got me into the 6.50's 8 times and zero 16 $ turbos

3.40's (-$2.40)
6.50's (-$41.20)

I hope to get more consistency as we move forward here. Let me tell you the real costs associated with this system.
3.40 I come in 2nd for 9.00 profit of 5.60, so a 6.50 turbo only cost me .90 at worse case.
3.40 I come in 1st for 15 profit of 11.60, so a 6.50 turbo leaves me with a profit of 5.10 regardless of outcome.

so you can do the math on whether I place in the 6.50, is pretty much gravy, and a free ride to the 16.00 turbo

A Very Impressive Day, I Must Say

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

So Saturday was the beginning of my Sng system, and I had to get the bugs out (took a small loss) but Sunday was a whole nother story...................

I made 49.50 playing (or atleast starting) with the 3.40 Turbos. Playing fifteen 3.40 Turbos got me into four 6.50 Turbos, which in turn got me into one 16.00 turbo.....Here are the stats

(15) 3.40's =+$24.00
ROI 47.1%
ITM 53.3%

(4) 6.50's =+$1.00
ROI 3.8%
ITM 50%

(1) 16.00 =+$24.50
ROI 153%
ITM 100%

I am just loving this system. I will continue it today from where I left off from yesterdays numbers. That means I start off the day with a 6.50, and 4-3.40's. I think I may stick with 5 games per sesh. Being an odd number, I am either a winner or a looser in number of games, but not necessarily in $. I will increase the number played at a time after a week has gone by to get a true look at my numbers. I expect to play atleast 40 games (8 sessions) per day. cya

My Progressive Sng Bankroll Management System

Blog by : bluandbrneyes
0

Finally, I found a system that will work for me. Lets keep it simple. I am playing the 3.40's Turbo. I will have a stop loss of 10% of my complete BR. I will never use more than 5% of my BR for every set I play.
Lets use this a.m as an example.................

First set of 5 3.40's went for 1st and 2nd, took that profit (15.00 and 9.00) and proceeded into my 2nd set

Second set went for a 6.50 twice since prev sent warranted it. Thats 2X 6.5 and 3X 3.40 and I bubbled one of the 6.50's and came in 2nd for the other. The 3.40's was a 1.st, 2nd, 3rd. Proceeds of 37.20 to be used in the third set

Third set would go like this 16, 6.50, and 3X3.40's

I have to take a break, so the third set is not complete. If interested in the actual math of this system just pm me. Compared to Tony's system, this is much easier to manage, less toll on the BR, plus only my winning are used to move for some big wins with small investments. I will keep track of all this in my blog, and I will give you specifics of the costs of moving up next time around. cya

DoN's, 18 Man, or 45 Man which way to turn?

Blog by : bluandbrneyes
0

Well, I am really glad to hear that Tony is doing so well. So far, I seem to be just an avg player. I am running approx .25 cent a game on the DoN's, Break even on the 18 Man, and killing the 45 mans. Not sure which way to turn. The 45 man is such a small sample, yet it makes more than my 344 games of 5.20 DoNs.

Since I cant emulate tonys success, I wonder if I just try to play much larger sessions, instead of 7-11 games per sesh, I should run it up, I know tony prefers 21 games. What if I use the steps to increase my games per sesh instead of buy ins. I tried playing 5 games per sesh last nite and move up from the 5.20 to the 10.4 with each win, then move down, what happened was I went 3/2 on the 5.20, then moved up to 10.40, and ran another win sesh at 3/2, then lost at the 10.40 2/3 which turned out to be a break even waste of time. whats your thoughts on that?

Do I just play sessions of 5's and move up down accordingly between the 5's and 10's or increase games per sesh. I 'll take any ideas there are out there. cya

Doing Well

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

Since I quit NL cash games, I am happy to say I am doing really well. Had a dream last nite that I was playing live and had quad queens. Seems I didnt protect my hand properly and the damn dealer mucked my hand, I was livid. What a dream.

So yesterday I played my first a.m sesh of DoNs and only won 4 of the 11. Left me pissed off so I just played the 18/45 mans games. Matt left me a comment yesterday referencing the ROI on DoNs, He said it was pretty small. If I remember correctly Tony is less than 6%, not sure about that, but Tony can you give us some stats on your ITM/ROI.
I dont think I'm rolled sufficiently for the step program Tony advocates that has served him so well.
I am $50.00 shy of meeting my goal, but the unfortunate part is that I am making more money on the 18/45 man sit and go's then the DoN's
My Roll has increased over 148.00, (started at 200) but that is do to a small sample of the MTT Sng's, 43 compared to the 397 DoNs...Here's yesterdays numbers

46 games (11 DoNs)
ITM 32.6%
ROI 28%
+$48.60

LV "The Most Abandoned City in America"

Blog by : bluandbrneyes
0

I find it really weird that the number one growth city for the (atleast) last 10 yrs is now the number one deserted city in America. Detroit for decades has been the number one blighted city, recently Dayton Ohio is number 3.

I thank Obama for the new housing bill, that will do alot for the people on the brink. I cant wait to modify under his new program. I bought a brand new house just 14 months ago in vegas, (I have already lost 3 houses) and already lost atleast 30% to 40% of my value and now I am obviously upside down. Dont get me wrong, we love our house, and dont really give fuck about the value but do look forward to decreasing our payment, as our income (thankful to still have jobs mind you) has been in a steady decline for the last 3 yrs.

Back to poker. There is so much negativity in these blogs today. Well I did have a loosing sesh yesterday in my goal to doulbe up using he 5.20 DoN. But I am happy to say that I took a break and played some 45/18 man SNG's, and sure enought took down a 1st and 6th, both wins when added to my loss for the 5.20's put me ahead for the day YIPPPPEEEEE.

It seems I really do well in the a.m sessions compared to the pm sessions. I only lost the juice yesterday as i went 39/38 (77 games) for 10.40 loss. For the multi tables I ran at 2/8 for an 18.20 profit, not to shabby, I think I will continue to play the multi talbe sngs for fun, maybe it will turn into something better than what I am doing. I will speak to tony today, to clarify the step/jumb program. I want to see if I put in the same amt of money for each step to see if that make s a difference. cya
