Time to Say Goodbye

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

Well all, I am really sorry to be saying this. My time in poker is currently over. After 3 continuos years of playing 30 out of 31 days a month and blogging for close to 1 1/2 years daily I will no longer be playing. I dont have the time. I should of seen this coming when I accepted this job. I havent played a lick of poker in over 5 days, which has never, never happened before. I have met a ton of people here at CR, and every single one of them were people that only wanted to help me, some for money (which is fine) and some for free. Its be a quite amazing journey for me.

I am done with the training part of my job ( it has to do with modifying mortgages for the gov't) and on my own and the hours are tremendous...the last 5 days have been work days of 12-13 hours, yet my day begins at 1:30pm or so, and ends as late as 3.am....I have finally adjusted to a new sleep cycle that was mandatory to my survival. Granted I now make over 500.00 a day, and this is only temporary ( not sure if hopefully is the correct word) for atleast another 10 mos. So I guess not taking advantage of this would be foolish. I also havent been working previosly to this for close to 2 yrs so the money is really welcomed and needed.
I guess i'll look at this as a way to build my next bankroll lol

I wish you all the best of luck and keep it going, cya

8 Days A Week

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

Well its sunday mornin and I am getting ready for work. This is the first time ever that I have worked 7 days in a row. Actually not sure when I will get a day off as I am working a full week to boot. What is that 12 days in a row. 6,000.00 for a 2 week pay period.....ship it!

All this work is definately cutting into my poker life. I still manage to get in atleast 3 or 4 hours a day, but its getting harder and harder. So far for the month I am up over 139.00 bucks, not much, but I am not loosing, and really trying to learn the game. There is not much out there for PLO. I was thinking about joining deuces cracked, I think they have alot more content for PLO?

I havent noticed any inexpensive coaches out there for PLO, seems the ones avail, all want like 2 to 3 hundred an hour. Any one got any ideas. Well if I can get to work by 9:3a0 I may be home before 6 pm. Do want to watch 60 minutes, the amazing race, then trump or desparate housewives (seems they may be on hiatus) cya

Understanding Omaha....Ask The Forums

Blog by : bluandbrneyes
0

Thank you forums. So let me explain. I had a nice loosing day, the first in a while. I decided to post some stats, along with questions on the norm of omaha in the forums. My question was what is considered avg for PFR%

so after 5000 hands, 700 villains, over 42,000 hands the avg PFR was 5.3% while the avg vpip was 35%
my avg pfr% was only 3.8 which while less than the avg but not by much. Needless to say the forums explained to me that I was way off-Mind you I have been winning for the month too. They also said my positional play was totally off, way off.

Changes made!
as of today only playing like 2 tables. Noting bad players at my table that I can take advantage of and believe me there are a ton of those to steal their buy ins. Taking total advantage of position, and preflop raising tripling (12%)
now I have to be really careful, as I've been known to go way overboard, so I must be mindful and keep a steady ship. Lets see if this makes a huge difference in my growth, if I can maintain this style of play. cya

Bluandbrneyes On PLO

Blog by : bluandbrneyes
0

Let me tell u why I am loving PLO. i believe I can play it better than NL for one thing, and there are alot more worse players playing that game than u can imagine. Some of the dynamics of NL are also involved in PLO like bluffing, and stealing but not necessarily based on your hand, but on the texture of th flop. You seem to know where u are at whether you bet and get called or bet and get raised. Playing properly preflop along with folding appropriately will get you far.
I aint saying I am a pro, but I find playing this game extremely easier than NL. I think alot more, plan ahead alot more and fold more. Knowing people will pay u off with a lesser hand. I can atleast fold 2 pair when I hit resistance and a bad flop for me. Mathematically speaking, its a much harder game. I am doing fairly well this month, yet I know its early and I dont have alot of hands, close to 5000, and over 25 hours which in the long run is nothing yet. There arent alot of games going, prime time most would be 8 or 9 tables and slow periods maybe 4. I see alot of the same players, yet alot new ones are always showing up. I will keep pluggin away and post some results soon. cya

Shooting Fish In a Barrel

Blog by : bluandbrneyes

Having a ball playing and gettting better at PLO. I was checking out my summary in PT omaha and noticed that there was a ratio of 70% losers with 30% winners. I could not believe the ratio.....I found where the fish are, thats for sure. I bet u couldnt find that many loosers at NL, best case a 60/40 which would be pretty rare I would think.

Jeff Hwangs book is really helping me out. Folding the nutz is not easy. Folding when a flop is paired, or 2 suits also is not very easy. Playing non nut hands is pretty hard in itself.
My first sesh today was pretty unfuckingbelievable. My biggest loss on a hand was 3 BB one time, and a few 2 BB and a bunch of one BB loss. Needless to say my winning hands were way much bigger than that. I think I am gettin the hang of this. There were only 5 tables going today, prob because of easter which I am working all weekend. So, if I wanted to play 12 tables, I couldnt even do that. Happy easter all, cya

Slotboom on Omaha

Blog by : bluandbrneyes
0

I just started reading Slotbooms book on PLO, its funny that both he and Farha actually recommend shortstacking, atleast when starting out, they also talk about deep stack too. After my escapade with AAxx hands I've decided that shortstacking is not for me as far as PLO goes. I've seen some players shortstacking and they are down like 5 or 6 buy ins, and at shorstacking they probably will not make their money back. I was googling some articles on PLO and found one that is specifies Slotbooms shortstacking strategy. It said basically play as many tables as you can and just play AA hands, sit to the right of the agressive player (thats the opposite of NL) and get it all in by/on the flop...............Not for me!

I am actually doing pretty well, though its early in the month. AAxx went really well for me today. I am still having a problems counting my outs, but getting better, also slowed down to 2 tables and practicing my post flop awareness like when 3 or 4 str8/flush draws are present, and I dont have either, but got a set or strips or even Top 2 pair and folding. So far so good. I am really worried about work, I may start working 12 hr days and that will for sure have an affect on my playing, I gotta get some sleep, cya

Supernova Status Gone Like the Wind

Blog by : bluandbrneyes
0

Well, I finally lost my status of supernova, I was so conflicted over this day coming months ago once I knew that if I changed things this would happen.
Initially this was a very hard decision for me as I had spent alot to time (months, and months, and more months), money, and sweat to get there.
As of now I have no ambition to get it back, what I do have is the determination to become a better player. I only play 4 tables now and hopefully that will enable better play, and mo money. Its about qualify and not quantity since I have to work like 68 hrs a week for the unforseeable future.

Omaha is going okay. I have finally defeated the stupid ass move of loosing with AAxx, and now I have to work on my raising preflop, then on stealing. cya
