Last Wishes Are Bullshit

Blog by : Benji2813

It's been rainy and depressing here lately. Which is a bummer since it would be nice to get out and do some shit before winter comes and it is too late. I really want to play some more tennis. I found it to be like golf, in that, once you go once you really crave it the next day. And for how bad I sucked the first time I went, I think I am getting pretty decent.

So my great aunt (I think she's my great aunt) passed away a couple days ago. I wasn't close to her or anything, but I do have some memories of her. No need for sorry's and what not. You probably don't know me that well and I didn't know her that well. The only reason I mention this is because she went to the doctor and was diagnosed with two different kinds of cancers and the doc basically told her theres nothing you can do and you have about a week to live. I was just trying to wrap my head around what that would be like. I mean what if you woke up tomorrow and found out you have a week to live. I can't imagine. Then my aunt was telling me that her and my grandparents went over there. They brought some food and had dinner and talked. I asked her what that was that like? I mean hanging out with someone who knows they have a week to live. What do you talk about? What do you do? I imagine if I had a week to live I would just tell everyone exactly how I felt and designate all my belongings. I don't know if I would make any last wishes. That seems pretty unfair. I mean what if it's something someone really doesn't want to do. Like some major life changing shit. Last wishes shouldn't be mandatory. I mean I'm sure Hitler had some last wishes.

I read some quote about how you should look at all things as temporary. Life, health, money, relationships. They all end. If you think of them as temporary, as they are, then you can be free from the bullshit they normally come with and get closer to living in the moment.

I'll post all O8 this time since last time was all PLO. I'm just gonna do some big wins and big losses. I don't feel like working too hard.

Pretty interesting hand. Definitely made a mistake on the turn as I couldn't get all the money in on the river.

Weird spot. Turns and rivers are really hard to play if I flat, but I expect to be behind more often than not when we get it in on the flop.

Prolly should have called the river. Idk. Close.

Some PLO hands

Blog by : Benji2813

Hellos,

So usually when I play I have HEM running and if a hand comes up that I want to review for whatever reason, I will mark it in HEM. So here is a bunch of hands from yesterday. I believe they are all PLO and PLO8. Some are trivial, but it helps me learn and hopefully someone else will benefit from it. It's kind of long, but then again so is the road to learning PLO/poker. If anyone reads this that is.

http://weaktight.com/1559782
Defenitly a spot where I should just flat, strictly due to stack size. I am in such a shitty spot on the flop with about two PSB left. There is really no good line here. I decide to just bet get it in.

http://weaktight.com/1559789
Kind of interesting spot w premium aces preflop. About as interesting as it gets preflop with good aces I guess. The button is easitly capable of 3B a wide range of hands here and the SB almost always has aces, which would almost always make the button a favorite here pre. And I am pretty sure he knows this. I still think the only real play here is shoving, but it is good to know if you are in buttons shoes that this is a profitable spot for you. He has about 42% equity 3 way.

http://weaktight.com/1559799
Another spot where I calling might be slightly superior to 3B just because of stack sizes. But our hand is so pretty I don't hate it too much. I think you have to cbet that flop, and I bet 26/42 which is what I would bet w my whole range here. It kind of sucks to fold to a shove though with all the backdoors we have, but I don't think we can c/c or b/c here.

http://weaktight.com/1559805
Standard open. I decide to raise on the flop cause I think he has enough draws that I dominate and hands that I don't mind getting it in against on the flop. The turn is a spot that comes up a lot. In the past I usually check there with my whole range, but obviously I need a betting range here. The logic is that he won't call usually with out a flush, If he does have a flush it is unlikely I can get 2 streets out of a worse one and it sucks to get c/r here. I guess I decent betting range would be NF, bluffs, and mix it up w lower flushs? The river was interesting cause I thought he could be checking to call with a better flush, he could be checking to fold non flush hands, he could be checking to c/r if he filled up, although I think he would bet this more often than not. I guess overall I though that checking was better than betting here. What do you think?

http://weaktight.com/1559814
I think I should have bet the flop. Even though it is 4 way I think I can bet fold if someone c/r and I don't think I get c/r that often anyways. Also, it will be easy to play most turns in pos. The turn is questionable. My reasoning was there were many draws out, but I guess there aren't that many. The river is weird, but probably a fold. Most people just aren't bluffing here, or in general at these stakes.

Aight I have more, but I guess that's enough for now. Plus I gotta go. I am about to go play tennis. For those who have never tried.....tennis is hard. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard to just be able to volly back and forth, but that shit is challenging. Once you become decent it is really fun though. Just make sure if you try it out you go with someone who is equally as shitty as you and make sure to bring 9 balls minimum. We just brought 3 the first time and we had to stop and get them every 2 min.

I got some shit I want to say about PLO8, but I will save that for next time.

Peace,

Ben

Some 30-60 LO8 Hands/Thoughts

Blog by : Benji2813

Recently started taking LO8 seriously. My main game is PLO8 and NLO8. I have a lot of experience, mostly live with, LO8, but I have never really got super analytical with it. So this blog is in part to follow my progress with that. After my first few sessions I have realized that one of my main weaknesses is that I don't have a good grasp on how to play rivers. I feel like it is dirty to fold most of the time, but it also seems like it is obvious I am beat. This post is mostly focusing on hands with what seem to me to be tough river spots and then some other random hands/thoughts. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

http://weaktight.com/1522150
River spot where it feels too dirty to fold but where I don't expect to be good often.

http://weaktight.com/1522153
Is it worth capping it pre w 53% equity or is it better to see a flop and play accordingly. I mean aggression in
position is nice, but in this particular spot he could be stronger then he actually was. Do hands like this even play well in a 3B/4B pot? It seems you can get into lots of spots like these. Spots where it is hard to fold because of pot size and you are kind of left closing your eyes and calling down.

http://weaktight.com/1522156
It seems like we are pretty credibly repping a deuce on the river here. I mean there arent' a whole lot of deuces
that are peeling the flop in our range but there are def some, it is obvious we don't have a K and when he checks the river we know he doesn't have K. Basically non 2 hands we are peeling the flop and flatting the turn w include mostly middle/high pairs and then backdoors like A345, A35Q w FD's. I dont' think we would be turning our pairs into bluffs here on the river, so that leaves random backdoors we peeled the flop and turn with. He's getting 7.25:1 on the river call. Do we have air here enough to make his call profitable?

http://weaktight.com/1522157
I think we have the best hand on the flop almost always after he just flats our 3B. On the turn JT got there. I guess it sucks to get c/r here but we have to bet. There are too many other hands we can get value from. We check though. When he leads the river it is weird because I think he knows we have two pair here always and doesn't expect us to fold ever, which makes me want to fold. I dont' think he ever has a bluff here or a bare TP, but it feels really dirty folding getting 6:1 after we check behind the turn. Can we fold this river?

http://weaktight.com/1522158
Another river spot. It just seems like we are never good here. Obviously if we are folding to bets like this too much we are ridiculoiusly exploitable. What is a good frequency to be calling bets like these? Where you are pretty certain you are beat, but there is a possiblity of random goofiness given what we are repping. I guess something that I base my river play on a lot is whether or not villain should expect me to fold ever. If he is betting when it is obvious I have like made NL or good low, etc. he can't expect me to fold there for I don't feel as bad folding.

here is a hand that I think is a good example of that:

http://weaktight.com/1522160
I think he always expects me to have NL here and he is never expecting me to fold. This seems to be an easy river fold to mebut illustrates what I am talking about.

http://weaktight.com/1522161
Another river spot where it seems we are never good. He is never raising with worse, we could possibly have a 2. the potis huge. Probably a spot where I should be check calling, even though worse is never betting and may call sometimes.

Later,

Ben
