Running god awfuil

Blog by : BananaBalla

Title says it all.

I've moved up to PLO50 now, and have been doing very very well...... up until 2 days ago when I started running awful.

In the last 3 days, I've run $332 below expectation..... see crappy graph below:

I am really happy though that my win without showdown is only a small negative.... I've been much better at figuring out what good spots to cbet both HU and multiway are, and good spots to steal post flop.

Anyways, once I start running decent I'm going to crusssssh.

PLO50 is basically the same game as PLO25, and I think there are actually more fish maybe.

GL at the tables!

Outplay but lose *sigh*

Blog by : BananaBalla
0

So last night, I had my first ever winning HU cash game session. I owned this guy for about $52 in NL50 HU, and I completely dominated him and soul read him in a few places. I had another session today, so I don't want to waste time showing last night's hands.

I played several HU sessions today, and had won about half a buyin against 3 short stacking ppl in total, until I sat down and played a full buy in guy.

I only misplayed one pot against this guy for a buyin, but completely dominated the rest of the match. Unfortunately, doesn't help when I lose two all in pots, both times we got it all in preflop with me as a 70-75% favourite, and deck hits him in the face. But I'll show these, as well as several other pots where I owned his soul.

So some background on the match. This guy was playing very aggressively preflop. He was basically raising 90% of his buttons, and 3-betting me preflop a fair ton. I played back at him, and successfully 4bet him in good spots where it felt like a good time for him to 3bet. He did a lot of dumb stuff though, like calling preflop OOP with 75o which is just plain bad poker, and calling cold 4bets OOP with less than premiums, esp. since I in general had not been 4betting him or seeing flops with him in 3bet pots much.

The main reason that he kept doing dumb stuff lik ethis, is because I pwned his soul with bluffs in a few spots, so he started giving me no credit. However, by the end, the fact that he gave me no credit worked to my advantage, and I was able to get him all in in with horrible equity - unfortunately he runs like god and i run like crap.

So here are some

www.pokerhand.org/

So here I had not been 3betting him much, so I 3bet him with 56o. Unless he's trapping me with a monster (which he wasn't, since he always 4bet AQ or better even tho I dind't 3bet him much at all), I think he's just throwing money away because I had not shown any propensity to 3bet light. So I know he's not that strong here. He floats the flop, and I plan to generally give up on the turn. but his bet sizing on the turn looked soooo weak, like a steal or a reallyyy weak hand like K8s or something dumb like that. And my line looks super strong by cehck raising hte turn. Now I shove this bluff obv, and I think since then, he thinks i'm full of shit everytime.

www.pokerhand.org/

This is another hand that he played god awful no matter what hand he has. He check raises a drawy flop, which isn't bad, but when he bet/;folds the turn, it means he was doing it with complete air. Well on a drawy flop, does he really expect me to call flop and fold turn that often? I thought about calling turn and then calling any river bet, but I felt that he may not bluff 3 streets with worse, and I'd rather get my money in with good equity and let him stack off with say Kx if he has it.

www.pokerhand.org/

This was an interesting hand. Preflop is w/e cuz like I said, I was running pretty horrible, and hadn't gotten mcuh to 3bet. His flop call is not bad, but when he checks the turn, I feel like he is turning his hand face up as A high a few times cuz I didn't expect him to float with air, and not bluff the turn, tho Ax has showdown value. ANd I fel tlike he has pair of 5's, or any slightly larger pocket pair 88 or 99 a ton. The K is a bad card, and I felt like I'm bluffing if I shove it. But I thought about it, and thought mayhbe he would call with 99 or w./e. But didn't pull the trigger and he checks down.

So anywyas, I'm up a buyin by owning his soul a ton, such as the 56o hand. And then this hand comes up:

www.pokerhand.org/

His preflop min raise over my min raise is just god awful. If he's never folding thi shand, he shoudl jusve shove it in, because it's dumb for him to try and induce a shove from a bluff like 56s, which still has like 35-40% equity against AQ - why would he want me to shove? That's just stupid, there's enough dead money in the pot where if he wants to go broke with AQ, he should be happy taking it. Of course as usual this guy ran like god and out flopped me while I am a huge favourite preflop.

OKay so here I finally play a hand badly. Not much to say except that I didn't know it at the time, but he rarely bluff check raised the flop, and because he thinks I'm full of shit, my turn shove is awful as I don't think he's folding Kx ever. Unforunately, I don't run as good as him: www.pokerhand.org/

So at this point, my brother actually starts sweating my match. He doesn't play or understand poker too much, but I think he at least recognizes the intricacies of the game, and that I am pretty decent. So I try to explain what I can, though it's hard to teach and play (gave me newfound respect for CR instructors who need to talk while playing HU). Then this neato hand comes up:

www.pokerhand.org/

This is a type of spot I have been experimenting with. I know Patrik Antonius does this a lot HU, where he flat calls AK, AA, or KK sometimes preflop to disguise his hand. The beauty of playing say AQo this way, is that if a Q or A flops, I often have his Ax and Qx hands dominated, and he would never expect me to show up with AQ here. So when the Q flops, I decide to play it aggressively, ESPECIALLY since like I said, he NEVER gave me any credit for a hand after showing a few bluffs. I had been totally card dead and whiffing every flop, so I was going broke with this hand.

Again he makes another awful flop call. Like seriously, I had never bluff check raised him ever, yet he gives me no credit and calls with K high. And the funny thing his is turn play where he tries to outlevel himself. He floats the turn, picks up a draw, but bets SMALL. What does betting small do? He's trying to give me the impression that he WANTS to induce a raise. the Dumb thing about his play is that when I DO raise, he doesn't know if I'm doing it as a bluff or air, but when he shoves the turn with his straight draw, EVEN A HIGH BEATS HIM. So I snap call obv, and I LOVE my raise size, cuz it gives hi m room to shove with crap. fortunately he misses his draw (finally).

So at this point, we are close to even in chips, and I'm about even on the session with this guy, despite him running like god. Then the sickest thing happens:

www.pokerhand.org/

So here we are 200bbish deep. He riases, I 3bet with AKo. Now I think the only good hand he has ever seen me 3bet with the entire much was KK when he ran like god against me. Soooo he thinsk I'm 3betting crap again depsite my low 3bet frequency lawl. So he 4bets to AQ. So here I have a few options. I think calling is by far the worst play, because I'm out of position, and having to see a 36 dollar flop with like 85ish behidn or w/e is just awful. So I know I'm going re-raise and get it in. But should I re-raise to like 45 and call a shove, or just outright shove myself?

I've decided I'm not going to fold no matter what. Raising to 45 is bad in my opinion, because then I'm representing AA/KK/QQ etc. and he might fold AQ or AJ type hands. Whereas, given the aggressiveness of the match, if I just SHOVE it in, he might call with as bad as AQ/AJ or even KQ because he will never put me on AA/KK/QQ/AK here.

So I shove it in for 200bb, and he INSTANTLY CALLS with AQ - wow so god awful, he doesn't even THINK about my range here, he snap calls for 200bb.

But he ran like god. and runner runner flushes me down the drain. Meh, that's HU variance for you. I'm very happy with my play minus that QJo hand, and it feel sgood to dominate people.

Anyways, dropping about 100 in HU today, combined with dropping like 60 in omaha where I ran horrible too but played bad as well, means a -160 to -170 day. Oh well, not really a big deal, but another drawback to moving up lol. maybe i'll never get past PLO25 LOL.

With work full time, and other outside of work commitments, I don't think nor do I believe I should play far too much. But hopefully I can slowly grind up a roll - would love to be playing PLO100 once school starts again in the fall, and eventually be crushing mid stakes by next summer, since I plan to not work full time, and will pursue some ventures/.projects probably, and play as much poker as possible to save up for school.

this is why i do'nt mind losing

Blog by : BananaBalla
0

Because I can take losses, and learn from them.

So anyways, last night after having a poor afternoon session, I decided to tilt off about 14 buyins around midnight or so, partly because I was frustrated by running bad vs major donks, and also partly because I suddenly felt bored cuz of the grind. I mean I did run bad, but I also played awful, like bet/calling shoves vs donk with 7 high flushes and obv losing to a higher non-nut flush. etc etc. etc.

So all the hard work I put into grinding a 20/8 TAG game the past 2 weeks and my 6 ptbb/100 hands essentially was gone, as I had won 400ish over the 2 weeks, and lost about 350 in a matter of a few hours.

But my frustration with the grind got me thinking. 6 ptbb/100 hands sucks. I remember this guy I know a bit from 2+2 who plays 2-3 tables at a time, and absolutely DESTROYS PLO25 while playing a sick 50/32 style. 50/32!!! holy. On this laptop (and I had a few K hands on him on my old laptop, with similar results), over 706 hands, which is not a huge but it's an okay sample size, he's winning at 38.34 bb/100 hands which is insane.

There's another PLO25 reg I've seen quite a bit, who also plays a similar LAG game. Over 1200 hands, I have him running over 51.1 bb/100 hands while playing 40/22. Which confused me, because if these guys are playing so many hands, how are they making money?

But I thought to myself, if I want to improve as a player, and increase my winrate, I have to learn to play a more LAG game. If you follow the high stakes games with the likes of David Benyamine, Patrik Antonius, etc. etc. the top players have a much laggier game. David, who's arguably the best PLO player in the world, and def. the biggest winner online, runs at like 52/25. Patrik runs at like 39/20.

So I decided to go back to 6-tables, and try to turn my 20/8 game into a 40/20 game. I couldn't get quite that high, but I finished at 33/18 over 1100 hands, and won at 16.55 bb/100 hands. I was very pleased with my play, as I only lost one pot where I got it all in for 100bb ish, and I was a 65/35 favourite on the flop when I raised and he called, and 50/50 on the turn when the rest of the stacks went in. The restof my all in pots I got in as a good favourite and luckily held up alot.

This experience def. improve my PLO game, and taught me some interesting things. First of all, I know they say it a lot, but position really is important, and I think more so in PLO than holdem, because being out of posiiton with marginal hands in omaha is really hard. What do you do with bottom 2 pair? bottom set? etc. etc.

For example, UTG raises, everyone calls, you call in the big blind. Flop is 56h7h. You have 34xx. If you bet here, you're sure to be called by hands with good equity vs you, or the nuts, or raised with the nuts, etc. etc. So you've essentially wasted a pot sized bet a lot of the time. Conversely, if you are on the BTN and this flop is cked to you, and you have 34xx, you know you have the best hand a decent amount of the time, because 99% of people won't check this scary a flop with the nuts.

Conversely, being in position allows you to steal a ton of pots, because when peopel check to you, you have info tha tthey are weak more often than not. Conversely, you have absolutely no info when you are first to act.

Knowing this, I began raising a lot of hands vs limpers that I would fold before. KJ56 double suited vs a limper, I raise in the CO or BTN automatically, esp. when the limper has like a 75% fold to flop continuation bet. Because no matter whether I hit the flop or not, I can take down these pots almost every time. Which is great because I get to win a lot of small pots, but these all ADD UP.

In addition, at a level where soooo many players 3bet AAxx preflop no matter stack sizes, positon, etc. or raise AAxx preflop everytime, then being in position and being hte preflop raiser, I can represent a lot of hands they can't. For example, I raise 5678 over a limper, and 2 people call out of posiiton. Flop is A72. Checked to me, I can bet pot and they will more than likely fold any hand because when you raise preflop, most people assume you have AAxx. And I know these guys can't, if they are people who don't always limp, but don't limp this time. That is, AAxx is in my range, but the nuts cna never be in theirs.

Another important concept is being very aggressive with your draws. Here is such a hand, which also incorporates many of the concepts I've mentioned.

www.pokerhand.org/

Here I am raising preflop in position vs a weak limper, and we get 2 callers. Flop is gin for several reasons. First of all, people will often put me on AAxx and fold to my bet. Secondly, I have any wrap draws crushed. And I have great equity vs a set. I'm only afraid of Axxx with spades, but I still have outs vs that.

The power of betting this monster draw is that I have fold equity, not only on the flop, but if a blank turn such as the Q here comes. When it's checked to me again, I can mash the pot button, and get tons of folds because the Q doesn't change anything and my hand still looks like top set. And even if called, I still have great equity.

Here is another example of playing draws aggressively:

www.pokerhand.org/

Like I said, whenever you bet out hard, people put you on top set. So here, even if this guy whoc heck/calls the flop has a better fush draw, or has blockers to my straight draw, etc. he folds on the turn to just a 1/2 pot bet because I can rep a full house pretty easily.

Here's a hand I was very proud of:

www.pokerhand.org/

In this hadn I flop top 2 pair, and make a standard cbet. When he calls, some random straight draw or flush draw, or some dumb top 2 pair, etc. is a huge part of his range. I check the turn, because I didn't know this guy well, and whether he'd fold a flush and give me credit for a full house.

On the river, I felt pretty strongly that he had a flush, thin straight value bet, or some random 5x hand or Kx hand he turned into air. My hand looks like a slow played full house on the flop and turn, and it's obvious he never has a full house here. So I shove like I would with a full house, and after timing down, I get him to fold.

Against some opponents this doesn't work though, but it's def. a good play vs TAG regulars.

Anyways, that's enough poker blogging for today, gl at the tables everyone!

Lost 4 buyins today

Blog by : BananaBalla

I made one stupid mistake (wasn't watching the table really well), and stacked off for more than 100bb in a 3 way all in with the bare straight on a straight draw + flush draw board........ and after that, things started to go downhill, as I tilted a bit for the first time in a while. Didn't help I was 9-tabling either. OH and losing a pot where I got 1/2 my stack in preflop with AQQx vs a 75/45 donk who was 3betting every other hand and never folding to a 4bet, and then shoving a J45 flop where he had AKT6 - that's right, he called with no pair and no draw. OH WAIT he had a back door straight draw and he hit running QT. What the hell!!! =/

I'm embarassed about a bunch of other hands too where I was obviously playing poorly.... oh well, had to know my solid play was going to detiorate sometime =)

Before today I had won about 16 buyins running at 6 ptbb/100 hands, which was good, but I think I'm good enough to bring that up to 8-10ptbb/100 hands..... obv today's session didn't help, and was another set back to moving up to PLO50 =/

Not sure if I will play more tonight.... I might. Going to work out for a bit now, if I feel good, I'll play again maybe and maybe recoup some losses.

I do have 358ish coming back in rakeback this month, which will be a nice boost to the bankroll, but still not enough to move up......

LOoking forward to this weekend as it's my friend's birthday, and we'll prob be doing something fun

Best day ever! =)

Blog by : BananaBalla
0

So yesterday I had my best poker day ever. I played 1776 hands, and won $153.70, running at 17.3 ptbb/100 hands. Feels good to be on the other side of variance this time!!!

Here are some big hands I played:

www.pokerhand.org/

I really butchered this hand. I had no info on this guy, except that he was like 76/43 and super aggressive, and a marginal losing player. I called the flop to see a safer turn, but also as a trap, because he was aggro, he would not believe I flat called the flop with the nuts. Turn is ugh, but when he checks I have to bet my 2nd nuts cuz of all the draws, and he SNAP shoves. Normally against a tighter player, this is an easy fold, but he was super aggro, and spewy, that I wasn't really sure what to do here. I mean, against a double flush draw I'm only like 55-60% to win, and he has me crushed with the nut straight... I'm getting about 2:1 on my money though...... so I don't think it's a terrible call with the read I had, but it's pretty marginal.

www.pokerhand.org/

I mean most of hte time villain has the other AAxx, but the few times he doesn't and is spazzing out like this guy, is why you should always get it all in with decent AAxx preflop for 100bb. Unfortunatlely he sucks out.

www.pokerhand.org/

This guy was an absolutely dokey fish, and I put him on this EXACT type of hand. I mean this isusually a fold from me, but I put him on a QJxx type of hand, which is why I raise/called for 80bb. He sucks out too =/

www.pokerhand.org/

The more I think about it, the more I think this is super standard. His weak flop bet, combined with his strong turn bet indicated to me that he had a set a lot of the time. That being said, I think if I raise here, he folds his set a lot of the time, or I get shoved over by the nuts. Also if the board pairs, and my read is correct, he ships me the money a lot of the time. When he instapots the river, I felt it was like either missed spades, or a set trying to go for way too much value because my line screams non-nuts (before the river), or he is outright bluffing because my line screams non-nuts. So on the river, I really felt that hte only hand that beats me is the back door nut straight, because I also think with marginal hands like sets and the low straight, he would have at least thought about it before potting the river. So I only need to be 33% right here, getting 2:1, so I called. Unfortunately he rivered the straight =/

And now onto some hands I won..

www.pokerhand.org/

I think flop is pretty standard after the shorty shoves, but def. rang good in this one as the flop better had a monster vs my hand.

www.pokerhand.org/

One of the reasons I like not 3betting AAxx preflop.... people do stupid things because they don't believe you can have it. Oh and I guess this guy was a fish too.

www.pokerhand.org/

Against the QJxx fish..... lol at him thnking double suited KKxx is that good vs AAxx. It's not awful, but why would you want to get your money in behind

www.pokerhand.org/

Man this guy's play is god awful. When I raise the flop, I either have a set, or big straight draw and/or flush draw. So when the turn pairs, and I bet/call his raise, I have a full house here like 95% of the time, and maybe I don't 5% of hte time hwen I am playing dumb. So his river shove is pretty awful. So is his turn check/raise.

www.pokerhand.org/

Got supperrr lucky in this one. I'm still not sure how to play in 3bet pots, because as you can imagine, you miss the flop a LOT of the time. I think this is def. a flop check, as he prob check/raises all his hands that have any type of draw or made hand, because he'll think I have AAxx a lot. I think 3betting preflop at this level (PLO25) is good against TAG regulars who raise too many hands, and of course 3betting AAxx ds from any position is good.

www.pokerhand.org/

I loveeeeeeeed the way I played thi shand. My 1/2 pot on the flop was to look like a weak steal from AAxx rags, and when he calls, I'm hoping he has a small flush "trying to trap" or play for pot control. On the turn, I INSTA-checked again, because he would never expect me to ck behind hte turn with a flush. Then when he checked the river, I potted it - either he has a hand he can call with, or he can't, so I might as well bet the maximum. My hand looks so weak, and what coudl I possibly be insta-cehcking the turn with and then hammering hte river with, but a bluff or monster? This was against the same guy who stacked me with the turned gut shot to the nuts, so it was nice to get some revenge.

I am really happy with my play over the last 8-10k hands, and am just dominating. Still a few leaks I need to fix, but I'm super happy with my recent progress. I feel like sticking to PLO is super +ev for the long term (or at least next 2 years). A lot of holdem players are switching to omaha without any decent fundamentals, so even they are sort of fish, which is good. Also, there are so few omaha resources, so the games are not tough, unlike holdem, which so many people know about, and can get decent at.

This is sort of like 2 years ago, when everyone sucked at holdem, but there were a few who were way above the rest because they really thoguht about the game. I think that's where omaha is now, and so I'm hoping to be one of those guys who takes advantage of getting into the game early.

Sometimes you just gotta run good...

Blog by : BananaBalla

Unfortunately, I didn't tonight. I turn 20 tomorrow, and well, was hoping to get luck on my side the last night I am 19.... but haha no, I ran sick bad. Over 410 hands, I lost $83.15 running at -40 ptbb/100 hands. To be fair, I ran $91 below expectation in all in pots.

The 2 big hands I lost (and the only 2 all in's for 100bb+ that I lost), it was AAxx vs AAxx, against the SAME 72/10 fish opponent all in preflop. I had slightly better equity in both hands, but managed to lose both (even though we tie, like what, 99% of the time?) Ugh. After losing hte first one, I thought I deserved to wint he 2nd one, but nope, I lose that one too! Here they are:

www.pokerhand.org/

www.pokerhand.org/

Oh wait, I lost another 100bb pot, as a 2:1 preflop, and 60/40 on the flop. His check/raise all in is just horrendous, he might as well shove the flop for some fold equity, not check raise all in with bottom pair against an obv AAxx lol.

www.pokerhand.org/

I also lose 80bb in this hand where I am a 78% fav on the flop. Standard for how my day was I guess =/

www.pokerhand.org/

I'm not sure hwo I feel about this hadn thoguh. I don't normally 3bet this preflop, but I was playing very tight as usual, and thought I could represent AAxx and steal A high flops, while say crushing them when I do hit a good flop, and they dont' realize it cuz they put me on AAxx. I know UTG was never folding preflop, because he was a 75/35 maniac or something, but his range is so weak, that i'm not afraid to play him in a 3bet pot and get it in wiht great equity. When the SB 4bets, it's obvious to me he has a weakish AAxx, like say no suits, or one suit with weak side cards. I think calling his 4bet is standard, as I have 44% equity against random AAxx, and can call any non A flop where I have a pair, with still 40% equity, or crush him in pots where I flop 2 pair, flop + fd, etc. etc.

www.pokerhand.org/

Anyways, going to celebrate my bday tomorrow with some friends, definitely looking forward to that - oh , and hope I run better this weekend, i mean heck, it's my birthday!

CRUSHINGGGGGGG =)

Blog by : BananaBalla

The name says it all. I've been crushing PLO25 on Full Tilt this past weekend and it feels gooooood. The funny thing is that I made a few spazzy plays that costed me 100 in total or something, but I'm still up $275 since I began playing my solid 20/10 game with 6-tables only, over 4163 hands, running at 13.2 bb/100 hands. Once I stop making those spazzy plays, my winrate will jump even more.

Here's a sweet looking graph:

Now, on to some interesting/fun hands from today......

www.pokerhand.org/

This was an interesting hand where I wasn't sure if I should shove the turn or just call...... I decided to just call and call any river where I hit. His line is just super weird, and I think he has either KKxx with hearts, my kind of wrap waiting for a safe turn, or some other random junk, I dunno.

www.pokerhand.org/

A spewy play... turns out villain was a massive calling station, so I got like 20 smtg back from him later on wiht a full house vs his top pair lol.

www.pokerhand.org/

God awful play at the beginning of tonight's session, I just felt like gambling, but I gotta stop doing stupid stuff lik this when I know I'm crushed by their range, esp. with someone prob having a flush draw.

www.pokerhand.org/

Get it all in with great equity in a 3 way pot..... unfortunately don't run so good.

www.pokerhand.org/

Just gotta loveee getting it in with 65% equity in a 3bet, 3-way, pot. Oh and holding of course. 1 pair is good! =)

www.pokerhand.org/

I really don't like villain's play here. Getting it all in on the flop with absolutely no redraws is pretty meh considering how solid I've been playing. Villain is actually a pretty laggy, winning regular at this level, who I feel has some preflop leaks though. I've seen him/her raising a ton OOP, calling 3bets with a really wide range, etc. etc. which I don't think is really profitable at this level when it's better to just be solid and exploit the numerous players who are fundamentally bad. I do agree you need to open up vs the regs though, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

www.pokerhand.org/

Man I just LOVE the way I played this hand. Villain's flop lead is pretty weak, and obv no one has 99xx like ever here (I'm holding a 9 as well don't forget), that I can check raise this flop big and not only do I dominate any wrap draws who call me (since I hold top pair in addition to my wrap, which is really important), I often get 88xx and 22xx to fold.

www.pokerhand.org/

Villain here is the same reg I mentioned 2 hands ago. I think her preflop play isn't awful, but I don't like it too much. I think it's just being way too wishful, and that I'd much rather defend 3bets with suited rundowns which have way more potential than some 4 random double suited hand. I love the way I potted the flop. I'm repping AAxx preflop, and a regular is confused as to why I would lead out with a large pot sized bet if I had AAxx, so she thinks I don't have it and am just trying to rep it, and it gives her more reason to shove her flush draw + gutshot.

So many other decently big hands I' won, but it's late and I have work today, and pretty tired lol. So not going to post anymore

Super happy with the improvement in my play and focus, still gotta work on decreasing my spazziness, esp. at the beginning of sessions. With 400+ in rakeback probably coming back next month, just need to win 1k more before I step into PLO50, which I am very excited about!!!

The past 2 days, I've played 1490 hands and stuck to playing a solid 20/10 TAG game. In fact, I've been even nittier (due to extremely loose opponents), and even ended up playing 16/5 today over 900 hands against a ton of fish.

Over those 1490 most recent hands, I've won $141 at PLO25 running at ~19ptbb/100 hands, which is great. I have never lost an all in confrontation (running pretty good I guess), but to be fair, the worst I've ever been in an all in situation was 45%, and that was far and few in between. I've pretty much been all in without great equity, which makes me happy. I definitely feel like the 20/10 game is optimal for this level, and sticking to 6-tables has done wonders for my medium-sized pot situations, where reads are extremely important.

For example, whether to check/call or check/fold when an obvious draw hits the river. These situations are compltely opponent dependent, and playing 8 tables, I normally have no time to think, but I feel 5-6 gives me a decent amount of time to consider the specific opponent and usually make some good calls. Conversely, it also allows me to makes good bluffs. Which is extremely important, because I want to improve my won wihtout showdown moneyz. Doesn't matter if you win a ton of showdown pots if you are weak tight or bluffing too much in non-showdown pots!

Didn't lose any interesting pots, so here are some interesting ones I won:

www.pokerhand.org/

Villain in this hand was one of the biggest fish I've ever seen. He was a huge calling station, and I wish river was a spade because I'm pretty sure that's what he was drawing to.

www.pokerhand.org/

Villain here was another fish who was raising every hand, and 3betting a ton of junk hands. Flop the nuts with a redraw, and pick up another redraw on the turn. Glad to finally hit one of these redraws!

www.pokerhand.org/

This was an interesting hand. Villain here was super aggro on a ton of hands, but knowing what i know after, I prob fold the turn tbh (I later saw that he would check/check when weak, and check/bet OOP with a good hand). So yah turn was marginal, but my read on him at the time was that he was capable of huge bluffs, and when I call turn, dun see how I can fold a pretty good river.

www.pokerhand.org/

His turn play acutally isn't half terrible, though I think he's best off check/shoving the flop to at least try and represent a massive draw or something.

www.pokerhand.org/

Love the way I played this hand. When he raises small on the flop, he almost always has either the nut straight or bottom straight, I figured bottom straight b/c I figured he would raise more with the nuts (seemed like a feeler raise). On the turn, check/calling is good because I'm always behind here, but I am getting 2:1 on his bet while actually being a 52% favourite. The reason I don't want to check/shove even while slightly ahead is that he'll never fold, and it will be a coin flip. However, if I check/call, I get to see the river and get my money in while ahead. Also, if a spade or diamond hits, he has to guess whether I have the flush draw (since there were 2 I could be drawing to), and he often calls the river shove like he did. Basically I can shove any spade, diamond, K or J and he has no way of guessing whether I am bluffing some random draw and will call a lot of the time while dead.

www.pokerhand.org/

I loved the way I played this hand. I used to bet this flop a lot, but a lot of time I win the small pot right there, or get into a crappy situation when check/raised and a 9 out draw. So I chose to check/behind. Turn is great because it gives me 5's as outs to my massive straight draw, and I bet here to take it down. If I'm check/raised not sure what I'd do, but I think he never has a set here because unlikely he checks it twice on a drawy board. Anyways, river is gin, and I decide to bet pot. The main reason for this is that my bet on the turn is usually indicative of a steal or 2-pair, and will be check/folding the river a ton without strong made hands, so I will only get paid off if my hand looks like a bluff anways.

Anyways, just suuuperrr happy with my improvement in play, going to keep sticking to this pretty TAG strategy and build a roll for PLO50. I think the games are just the same at that level, and I don't feel I will need to open my game up too much until I hit PLO100, which I feel will definitely be an interesting challenge.

GL at the tables everyone!

too bad i'm stubborn

I love omaha way too much, and after playing that, find the grind of holdem pretty boring. not to say omaha isn't a grind, but it is also much more profitable (tho my results say otherwise =P).

I know I can play this game. My main problem is tilt control, discipline, and work ethic. When I lose big pots sometimes, I go on major tilt and lose 10 buyins. This happened just 2 days ago. Sucks. Doesn't help that I ran shitty either lol. Seems liek whenever I go on tilt, I lose every 60/40 i put myself in haha.

Work ethic wise, I'm terrible. I should be watching videos more regularly, etc. Discipline wise, I need to stop doing dumb shit. Like say I 3bet preflop with KKJT ds and get 4bet.... well this is an easy fold against anyone playing PLO25. This is always AAxx, and I'm a dog, esp. if he has some of my suits. Yet I will call anyways and try to spike a K or flush draw, and even if I have a flush draw, I'm still only 40/60 when the money goes in. It's just dumb, yet I still do it.

Or I will 3bet with A976 ds, and get 4bet, and should obv to fold to AAxx because him having 2 of my outs puts me in horrible shape. I'm better off calling here with K976 ds, but I call anyways to try and spike a straight. Just dumb stuff lik ethat becuase I get bored easily.

I've looked at the biggest winners in my database, and over 1500-3k hands, the biggest winners are easily winning like 15+ bb/100 hands, some even up to 30 (yah sample size, bla bla). Most of these players are playing a simple 20/10 TAG game, and looking throuhg one of these winner's showdown hands today, I realized how simple the game he's playing is, and I started doing this tonight (after playing dumb), and I think this is a smart idea. I mean I've been trying this for a while, but my tilt causes me to leave doing 20/10. I need to stick to this no matter what. Also I realized I was betting the turn way too much as bluffs, and getting called light, or getting check raised whens ome draw hit. I def. need to check the turn more, I mean they are going to catch up 20% of the time if they'r enot ahead already, but I feel long term it is +ev to check more turns when some obvious draw hit. It's tough in PLO, because if a flush AND straight card hits the turn and riv and villain bets, you basically gotta trust your read.

I've also seen a player, who destroys PLO25 while playing like 55/35 or something. He's a 2+2er, and actually complimeneted my via PM saying that he thinks my posts are good, and that he thinks I'm a solid player. The fact that he crushes 55/35 amazes me, as he focuses on 1-3 tables at a time and I think hand reads extremely well. That being said, I don't think you can do that while 6-10-tabling obviously, but I think a 20/10 style will be good for 6-10 tabling.

I do realize though that I will eventually need to learn to play like a 40/20 game if I ever want to move up to the higher aggressive games, but I feel like grinding 20/10 at PLO25 and PLO50 will be very important for me to improve my fundamentals and basic understanding of the game, while building my roll.

I just need to learn to find the fold button more! Gotta stop calling 3bets with 3576 ss hoping to flop a straight, it's just dumb. Their 3bet ranges aren't nearly wide enough for me to bluff shove safe looking flops against their AA, etc. etc.

Anyways, hopefully I stay disciplined. Prob. going to focus on 6-tables max, as I feel most comfortable there now I think.

feeling good

Had a good workout this morning on the bowflex.... really enjoying the equipment. and being able to workout at home and not have to go to a gym is pretty great.

Just played a session of 696 hands of NL25 6max while 6-8 tabling. Won $31.30 at 9 ptbb/100, which is not bad, but should've been a bit higher if not for one hand I felt I misplayed.

www.pokerhand.org/

So in this hand, BTN was a 24/20 type player I think, and was fairly aggressive on the flop and turn. I prob should've 3bet this preflop, that was my biggest mistake. I had some stupid thinking at the time that I could gain value from lower pairs, etc. etc. But yah that's just dumb thinking. I'm way ahead of his range, gotta 3bet preflop.

Overcard on flop sucks, but obv c/c is fine. At the time I didn't realize it, but it completes 35 for the straight. All I could think about at the time was that his bet was not close to pot sized, which led me to assume he had a AK/AQ type hand a lot of the time that was trying to double barrel, plus his turn agg. was decently high. The problem was that I had no history with the player, so I really wasn't so sure about their frequencing of double barreling if they sensed weakness. My hand looks a lot like a weak Jx, but more often, some flush draw or smtg. So when I check/call the turn, I think I kinda have to check/call the river blank.

In retrospect, I should've just c/folded the turn without a strong read. FPS is just dumb at NL25 to be honest, and I'm slowly trying to deal with that. I think that was my only case of it today, and I think if I play regularly more, I'll do it lots and lots less. But beyond that one hand, I feel like I played pretty correctly in everything else.

www.pokerhand.org/

Well this hand sucked lol. Early on in the session, I had no stats on the player (turns out he was a 12/10 nit). His 3bet was so smallish, that I figured I had good odds to try and hit my set. Also, usually bad players 3bet small to try and get you to call, which made me think more and more he had a big pair, which is more reason to call. Flop and turn are standard, and well, lost as a 95% fav. on the turn. That's poker.

www.pokerhand.org/

Villain berated me after the hand for my play, but as I'll explain, I def. think his play is mediocre to marginal post-flop. Normally I fold this preflop, but villain was like 18/9, which polarizes his 3bet range to JJ+/AK type hands most of the time. Knowing this, I feel like I can call preflop profitably and play him perfectly post-flop. Plus his 3bet size is too small, even more reason to call.

Flop is gin, and I raise 3xish instead of pot sized for several reasons. Being a nit, he's going to believe I am calling preflop a ton with medium pocket pairs which hit this board hard, and this is how I'd exactly play 88 or 77 most of the time. So I have great fold equity always against AKo, and sometimes against JJ-AA who will give up because my play looks so strong. based on preflop and post-flop, my range is either a big combo draw or a set. Against that range, his QQ is either flipping or crushed,.. that being said we had no history, so i don't think i can blame him too much for shoving. The only hand I'm worried about is AKs, but that's only one combination in his range, so Im' happy raising and calling a shove, where normally I am prob. a flip.

www.pokerhand.org/

Nothing else to say besides thank you for the moneyzzz

www.pokerhand.org/

This was my favourite hand of the session. Villain was like a 17/14 player, no history. When he flat calls pf, I am pretty sure he never has QQ/KK/AA here. And his most likely holding is some small to medium pocket pair.

Flop comes 333, which makes me 99.99% sure I have the best hand. When he calls the flop, pretty sure he has some pocket pair. On the turn 55 beats me, but I'm still way ahead of all other pocket pairs, so betting is fine. On the river, he checkd very quickly. I really think for most people, a quick check is a marginal hand. Plus, I felt like I could keep representing whiffed overcards by shoving the river to look like a bluff, and get his TT or 99 to call...... and it worked, except he had 66 loolool

Anyways, got some work I need to do today...... glad to finally make money again (lol omahaments). I hate hovering around NL25 for like 6 months or w/e when I am confident I could be beating NL50........
